Would be crazy not to sell him this summer. He's not going to improve, his ceiling was last season and that level isnt sustainable for him. Hopefully PSG will stupidly see him as worth it as a sort of marquee should Mbappe leave. Let Garnacho claim the right or left wing and sign a top quality replacement. There are several PL wide players who arent good enough for what we want, but would be more reliable than rashford.

I thought he was our most dangerous forward, he stood Cash up numerous times.

Frustrating to see him offering noting defensively on the transition, especially when the turnover was on his side of the pitch.

That was Garnacho surely, Rashford did his usual mix of slowing the game down by dithering over the ball, hitting the ball against the nearest player, passing when he should be shooting, shooting when he should be passing, not tackling or running back with enough conviction, all interspersed with fleeting moments that make him look like a top player, but it's just not enough given everything else he does right now.

I for one was pleased to see him go off today, and saw Mctominay coming on instead as a positive move by Ten Hag.

Yeah he's never going to have last season again, and you wouldnt want to be in the trenches with him

Along with all his pitfalls, I hear commentators always go on about “he’s hard to stop when he’s in full flight” meanwhile he can’t stop himself because he’s so out of control.

Dude is just not a good player.

Dude is just not a good player.

Saw a super slow mo clip of vinicius junior during the week, he's dribbling at speed and his head is up 90% of the time. I genuinely believe it could be as simple as that as this level- rashford can 'do everything', but doing it at speed, with your head up to have enough awareness of everything around you is what helps to make good decisions. Rashford has decided what to do before ever looking up, he'll decide he's going to cut the ball back without looking, he'll decide hes going to shoot without seeing the better option. When things are happening at full speed, he just isnt good enough, which is ironic given his pace is one of his better attributes

Thought that game would suit him well but he’s just lacking something. I still think his pace has gone somewhat. It’s like he’s on the cusp of doing something and then it just doesn’t happen.

Surely people are taking the piss calling him our most dangerous forward. He made 2-3 dribbles and that's all.

Letargic all around and we were playing with 10 men, while he was on the pitch.

Infuriating to watch. So passive and weak.

There was one instance around the hour mark where he was one on one on a counter against Cash (who had just been booked). He had acres to push the ball past Cash and create a big chance or draw a second booking. Instead, he opts to slow down the game and wait for Villa to get back in shape. Chance wasted.

This is very well put, it’s atrocious to watch. Attackers need to see what the defenders are up to and make decisions on the fly. It makes them unpredictable and makes it a nightmare to defend against. This is not at all the case with our young Marcus.

However, even with his head up, I don’t trust him to make the right decision :nervous:

He seems to think he can turn it on and off whenever he likes. That’s how it feels to me. He gets the basics wrong so often. He’s easily our most frustrating and lazy player.

His pace went years ago. The days of him simply outsprinting defenders are long gone. He's quick but nothing special anymore.

He plays like he's always trying to be the one to do it all but he's not good enough for that.

Scared of a challenge as well

Vacates the area on set pieces too, for someone who’s game is about goals and not much else it’s fecking criminal he’s not looking to get on the end of stuff unless it’s perfectly geared for up for him. He only scores one kind of goal. Definitely shirks the physical side of the game with token weak defending and intensity and leaves us totally exposed down the left all the time

In fairness to him, he doesnt look like a complete waste of space like he was earlier in the year. He's trying things, he's looking for the runners, he'll have a shot. Today was simply a poor game. Which I'll take over what you saw just before Christmas where it looked like he'd never kicked a ball before.

He's always been like that, does not like to get physical at all. I personally like his patented pretend to go and head the ball and then duck out of the way move he does anytime there's a 50/50 aerial challenge.

He gets a lot of hate here, wasn't as bas as people are saying. He did 2-3 really good plays showing impressive skill unfortunately he lacked the last pass/touch to make it an actual goal threat.
he is that kind of person that devide people...some go overboard and call him championship level and others call him our best player or similar. the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Edit:and with that, the more one side gets carried away the other side feels the need to respond.

Think his pace was always a tad overrated. Don’t think he’s lost much, but he’s lost intensity.

im repeating myself but his burst of pace is his best attribute with a powerfull shot other than that hes average with some downsides.

the last two games were certainly better than the rest in the last few months i would agree with that

Been poor, didn't even worked hard for the team (it's the minimum). Well, that's a shame.

Garnacho has a greater influence and impact on the match these days.

Honestly wouldn't be upset to see him leave in the summer and this time last year I couldn't have imagined saying that

Shame.

Didn't think he was too bad today...caused them problems and put himself about a bit more than he has done for most of the season. It's a low bar but I think the last few weeks have shown some signs of improvement

Nah he was decent today. Not great, but just decent. His form recently hasn't been too bad either - his recent returns show a bit of an uptick, and even when he didn't score against West Ham, his work rate was far better. Also yes he's making some bad decisions, but when his form was poor he either made them too late or just didn't make them at all.

I don't think that front three should have any changes to them, plus unless someone comes in with a 100mil + offer this summer, he's going nowhere.

I didn't think he was poor at all.

In fact it was the first time this season I thought he actually looked comfortable with the ball at his feet in terms of his dribbling

I think he lacks certain things for a modern team. He's a specialist when in form, taking on players and finishing well when in form. He doesn't do what managers ask him, no tracking back or pressing, destroying cohesion in that area of the field. It takes a club run like United of old to sign a player like him, and that's not a compliment to the past years of our beloved club..

When out of form it truly is like you lack a player, teams can play from under your press and always have a player extra in build up, making poor teams look stronger. If anyone would pay good money, we should take it. Besides him being great off the field in the covid period, he shouldn't be the footballing face of the club.

Question is who would realistically be in for him and offer us a realistic fee and afford his wages?

In England:
Maybe Chelsea could be interested to make a statement signing and improve on all the youth wingers they have bought lately. Do not see any of City, Liverpool or Arsenal be in for him as he won't fit in their game philosophy, culture or player profile. Newcastle could be but don't see them able to get an expansive player as him now with them struggling financially.

In Spain:
Barcelona don't have the money. Real Madrid could afford him and I actually think he would be good for them but he would only be of interest if they don't get Mbappe. Atletico Madrid won't pay a realstic fee and won't afford his wages.

In Italy:
None

In Germany:
Bayern Munich would be the only team that could afford him. I actually think he could be succesful in Germany and could create a good partnership with Harry Kane but again his wages might be a problem but but but they have the money to afford him

In France:
Only PSG could afford to get him and I actually see them as the most realistic scenario if Mbappe is leaving the club.

In general he is a good player and I beleive he could do pretty well and even better than he has done with us if he moves abroad. It is obvious that his issues are mental and a change of culture, country might do him wonders.

Happy enough with how Rashford's been playing the last number of games (either side of that Northern Irish trip).

I don't really get involved in this thread as I don't really have a strong / extreme view about him either way. His inconsistency frustrates me, but it's not as if other players have been particularly consistent during his time in the first team. That doesn't exclude him from the same criticism of playing his part in our underachieving of course.

I remember Shane Warne saying about Monty Panesar not learning and developing enough as a player with the quote: "Monty Panesar hasn't played 33 Tests, he has played one Test, 33 times.” And I do think a similar point could be made of Rashford as a player.

Heh. Very true.

i must have watched a different game, apart from the run with the tame shot he did nothing to say he looked comfortable dribbling

I actually don't know where I stand on Rashford but I'm confused by this because everytime I've seen Chiesa he has been incredible.

Not claiming to be an expert but I've seen enough to say he is pretty bloody good.
There has to be about 100 better options out there. I don’t particularly rate him but maybe that’s just me

Atrocious again. We really ought to cash in this summer if PSG are dumb enough to bite.
