He wont cost 15m though. If we bought someone better and someone to add numbers, fine. But i feel we only shop now in the 20m categories, squad players to replace first teamers.

Saints would want 25 or 30m for him if we go for it. They would sell him for 15m to Everton, but no way are we getting away with it,
Whether that's true or not remains to be seen but from the reports I've seen the highest number is £18m, and from the sounds of it Lemina wants out and doesn't figure in Hasenhuttl's plans.

As I said before, Lemina isn't someone I consider an ideal addition but we've been linked to far worse players.

Are we on a mission to build the worst midfield ever?

Longstaff, Lemina, Bakayoko......Jesus id rather bring Fellaini back.

I wouldn't mind but there's a whole list of midfielders on the market, feck knows why we didn't pick up Tielemans for £40m he's twice the player of those lot.

Considering Bakayoko is another name quoted around I'd rather have Lemina..

He will presumably force the move if we're in for him but whats to stop Southampton demanding £50m like every club tries to with us?

Isn’t he meant to be bang average? Not extending herrera’s contract was a diabolical decision.

Nobody mentioned Lamina in any positive way since dunno ever and suddenly after this news drops, he is this, he is that, always liked him, always wanted him, full truck of potential ( and who is going to unlock it? us lulz? ).
He'll be in people's desired lineups by the end of the week.

I don't believe this story for a second it's clearly utter bollocks probably pushed by his agent

Ridiculous statement

Herrera was given 200,000 a week for -5 years- by PSG. He’s 30 years old. Bonuses take it up to 300,000 by all accounts. Imagine a 34 year old Herrera still around on 300k... a player reliant on his engine and hard work.

Matching that would have been a TRULY diabolical decision.

We need cover, that’s all. For now, we have Matic, McTominay Pereira and Pogba. Unless one of those leaves, there’s nothing urgent about our overhaul.

They want to get rid and he wants to leave as well. Apparently they want 18m, but if more clubs are in, i could see something like 25m or 30m.

If he was their best player and key to the manager, they would ask 50 or 60m for sure.

You only highlighted the incompetence of our board. We should have extended his contract a longtime ago. Being in his last year of his contract gave him much more bargaining power. In case you haven’t noticed, we are down a midfielder and are struggling to replace him.

We finished outside the top 4, i’d say we most definitely need to hit the panic button considering we’ve only brought in one starting player so far.

Where the grass is greener.
This sort of signing makes sense if we were in a better position with a healthy squad, and feel like adding some potential depth. It would be a mad signing.

I said that Ole needs to make a statement when bringing in players this window, but he hasn't been able to do so as yet.
He said we needed 2 Midfielders, but hasn't signed any, and I certainly hope that they are better than what we have already.
Some of the names linked with us are just not good enough for United.

You forgot Fred, pal. We could perhaps use 1 more midfielder but that's about it. And I think it's a case of getting quality rather than quantity. I'd rather let Pereira, McT and Garner be the backups to a strong midfield trio, rather than buy another backup in Lemina.

I'm not against Lemina, but we already have squad players. We need top midfielders for the first eleven.

If a big club needs a player, they go for their target and get it. Barca signed De Jong, City signed Rodri... While we are linked with Bakayoko, Lemina (better than Bakayoko) and Longstaff. Even the likes of Rice/Neves/Ndidi are better.

Always been the case. One game he makes you go "wow, this is some player!", then the next one is "wow, how is this guy even a footballer", then he's injured for 3 months
Seems he'd fit right in with us then

Our situation isn’t similar to Barcelona or City, they are top teams, we’re a higher mid-table team, they have a much higher pull.

Wait what now?

You have to seriously wonder what is going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford really.

Of course it could be a masterstroke of a move no one saw coming and it works out great in the end. (Have to try remain somewhat positive).

If Ole fails to convince PP to stay, we're left with absolute horror show of a midfield. Even with Longstaff, Bakayoko or Lemina, it's the weakest selection of central players from Top 10 (!!) I'd say.

All we had to do was sign Rabiot - free transfer, 10 million signing bonus to player, and barely higher weekly wage than Mata got as his extension. We would have appropriate midfield partner for PP and genuine shot at top 4 finish.

He was basically the be all and end all of that Marseille team wasn’t he? Hence the Juventus transfer.

What’s happened at Southampton? Thought he’d smash it there

Well the 3 I mentioned were linked by multiple news outlets, that’s all we gave to go on if we’re going to discuss possible transfers.

Have any of you even seen him play? Everyone was raving about him when he first went to Southampton and a lot of top clubs were rumored to have been looking at him before his injury. He's strong and can tackle, pass and dribble well and would certainly be an upgrade on Matic and Fred for the no. 6 role. Big superstar signings haven't exactly worked well in the post-Fergie era, if he could be got on the cheap it could be a shrewd bit of business. He wouldn't exactly be at the top of my list of midfield targets, but in a difficult inflated market he's not the worst idea.
My point exactly, fans are content with. Yes, I have watched Southampton, if he is so good, why did they struggle so bad? I am sure you'd agree Midfield is where a game can be won? 1 assist and 1 goal last season?

Well if your point about Big Superstar haven't come off.. neither have other signings, should we stop buying players then?

I do not mind having a couple of cheap / shrewd business players. He is 25, so why not go for a Tielemans for £40m? at least with him, everyone knew he was available.

We have no idea about his contract but the rumour is 8m before tax.

This bouncing between target to target is probably media's same old guessing game, but if Solskjaer feels he's at least realistic target then I hope board will support him, with keeping in mind that Bruno's still priority of course.

Much rather Hojbjerg if we're going after a Saints midfielder.

Actually he was a backup at OM  Juve signed him on favourable conditions(loan with option to buy for a total of €15m iirc) off the back of one impressive friendly

I'd be amazed if there was any credibility to this rumour but times like this are easy pickings for football "journalists".

In the last week United have been linked with McGinn, Bakayoko and now Lemina.

When a club is viewed as being in a negative spiral, throwing underwhelming names into transfer rumours to them is guaranteed clicks which is all they are interested in because you get the double whammy of the fans of that club are in absolute desperation for any transfer news and then you get the eyes off all rival fans laughing at the standard of players that club are "in for".

You guys probably found it funny a couple of January's ago when the media done this with Chelsea, three days in a row linking us with below average target men. First it was Carroll, then Barnes and then Crouch. I remember lurking and reading many posters here being giddy "the state of Chelsea hahaha".

Now the shoe is on the other foot but it doesn't make the bullshit any more believable. My advice is to ignore all rumours while this frenzy is going on. Lemina will not be the last mediocre player linked without any real foundation to United this summer.

He was nothing at Marseille and they weren't good. Ayew, Payet, Gignac and Valbuena were their best players.
