I think a lot of people forget that he was still only 24 when his injury problems began and basically ended his career at the top level (in the sense of being able to perform at that level anyway). And that by then he'd already 'wasted' two and a half years under a manager who blatantly didn't like him and prioritised other players even when Martial was easily outperforming them all.Aye, looks like I got the timelines mixed up.
Still maintain he never peaked, he showed glimpses of what he was capable of. Even during what you call his peak season he regularly went 2 or 3 games in a row without providing any goal threat or assists. He never really showed the consistent level of top performances you'd associate with a player at their peak.
There have been times that he hasn't helped himself, but Martial really has been incredibly unlucky with how his career has gone.
