If the public pay £65 quid then we're fecked. Every half decent ppv will increase dramatically in price.

So Floyd calls himself TBE?

I've never seen Sugar Ray Leonard or Robinson fight, but this article is pretty spot on, IMO.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/bl...ayweather-greatest-sugar-ray-robinson-leonard
Ray Robinson lost one of his first 123 fights. He lost that one fight against Jake La Motta. He subsequently avenged that defeat four times. Of course he didn't need to fight La Motta after beating him again but he did because La Motta was one of the best around. Floyd does his best not to fight the best around when they are hot, which is why he won't ever compare to fighters like Ray Robinson.

PPV boxing in America often costs around $70 for big events. It is prime time TV over there, whereas in the UK it is on at probably the most anti-social time possible. I can't see this one costing over £25.

Everybody will be of the same opinion that this should have happened 4 or 5 years ago.
Unfortunately, I think Mayweather will win this now, but 5 years ago, it would have been a great fight
For me, Manny is a warrior, and has been in some absolute battles, and that has caught up to him.
Saw a great picture a while ago, that I cannot find any more, showing the same opponents and their faces after the fights, and Manny left them in messes, while Floyd gave them a few bruises.

I appreciate Floyds style of boxing, but it does to an extent bore me.
I still question his hit on Ortiz as totally unfair, and cannot believe a rematch was not made.
I also think Del La Hoya beat him

Seriously, on what planet was DLH anywhere near to beating him? Floyd was never troubled, bunched punches being blocked are just that....bunched punches being blocked. He made proper boxing look so easy, but people love punches....even if they are irrelevant for like 90% of them.

The closest he's come to losing was Castillo. Possibly should have, but have only seen it the once.

Apparently it's going to be £66 in the UK
We really need the streamers to up their game for this. Sales have to be low at that price, it would be a horrible precedent to set if PPV channels clean up. It won't even be at a time of night you can comfortably watch it in a shitty pub...

Agreed. That really could have gone either way and Floyd was lucky he got the decision.

As for this fight, I see Mayweather as favourite but if anyone can hand him his first L then it's Manny. Southpaw, quick and busy, matched Floyd for speed. The big worry is Pacquiao had trouble with JMM's counter punching and Floyd is by far the best around at countering.

Watched Floyd-Castillo again recently and scored it the same as the judges.

I know everyone wanted this to happen 5 years ago....but...forget all that shit, it is finally happening and not as late as it could have been.

Really can't wait for this.
This! I think we need a special Haxball night for this, Hectic. The only thing that irks me is that i no longer believe that these two are the pound for pound best two fighters in the world anymore, I think that Andre ward deserves a mention in that category.

Don't worry about that, There will be plenty of decent streams around and There are a few of us that can provide links for the correct reporting to authorities.

When will this be on in the UK? If the fight is held in the US, will that mean it's actually aired in the early hours of the 3rd?

Probably around 4.30am, and yes it's on the 3rd technically.

Sky Box Office can tongue my butt hair after a days gardening. 20 quid to watch two geriatrics no where near there best bore me to death? Not a chance.

Spot on. This is why Pacman is more respected in the circuit, as he boxes competitors.

Floyd, although talented, and the best around now, can't hold a candle to SRR. Floyd is a gimmick these days.

It's lower than most people expected. Froch vs Groves last year was the same price on Sky Box Office, and even 10-15 years ago fights used to PPV at around £15 quid, so it seems Sky have made a conscious decision to keep the price reasonable.

I remember paying something like £16.95 to watch Tyson knock out some nobody in about 2 minutes over 10 years ago. £20 for these two is no problem!

I have no problem with Sky picking this up. Their production values are just far better than Boxnation. But please God no Amir Khan on commentary telling us about how he wants the winner...

I like Khan when he's not talking about his own career prospects. Surely they'll get him in, seeing as he knows Manny so well.

It's hilarious seeing some people talking down this fight as if it's two over the hill bums fighting each other.

"Past their best, should of happened 5 years back!"

feck off, they're both incredible fighters, more so Mayweather who is one of the absolute greatest.

Rumours Zab Judah dropped Floyd big time in camp. Denied as you'd expect by his camp (they're never going to admit it) and while Floyd has never officially been dropped in a fight, Judah did clearly score a knockdown against him when they fought but it wasn't given. Could be a bluff, could be a double bluff, could be true, either way these rumours have never surfaced before and even if it is a PR campaign to get the fight in media again, it's interesting all the same. Very interesting.

Can we get a poll up?

I'm going for Pacquiao. Mayweather has never faced anyone like him and he will struggle to deal with his speed and ferocity. Pacquiao has been in more blood-and-guts battles (in fact Mayweather has never been in one) and will be much better placed to deal with the intensity. Mayweather will try his best to calm the flight down and control Pacquiao, but Pacquiao is IMO the one fighter on whom that tactic will not work.

I bet Floyd is struggling to sleep at night.

In terms of probability, I rate the outcomes like...

Floyd UD/MD
Dodgy Draw/SD to build a rematch up
Manny KO
Manny UD/MD
Floyd KO

I'd really love to see Manny beat Mayweather, but regardless of all this TBE hype, he's still the best boxer on the planet right now... Well, after GGG (inaccurate opinion based on my love for Golovkin)

I think Manny's a lot more likely to get a decision than a knockout. He's a volume puncher and an excellent round stealer.

But he's still got a big punch (see Hatton - Poor guy ), and Floyd's defence is just amazing. It's close between the two outcomes, but I can't see Manny getting a just decision.

Why is that ?

Was reading up about mayweather. So he's never lost a fight but his lack of competition means people don't consider him among the best. Also didn't know that a few boxers are considered greater than Ali.

I'm not a huge boxing fan at all but I'm buzzing for this fight. How do people see it going?

Decision or Stoppage?
Will they knock each other down?
How many rounds?

You should stay out of the boxing thread, Amol.

Two reasons.

1) I can't see him (or anyone at 140-154) outboxing Mayweather for 12 rounds

and more importantly

2) Every promoter involved will want a rematch. What sets up a rematch better than a dodgy decision? Bradley Pacquiao sadly proves this... Everyone knew Pac won, but nope, Bradley got it. Rematch for big money, the result goes the right way.

Hi all

I want to watch this fight in HD with no buffering so I'm prepared to pay for it. Can't be arsed fannying around with a stream for something like this.

Here's the thing though. I am not subscribed to Sky so I'm guessing I can't buy it on their box office?

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can watch it in all it's (hopeful) glory?

I'm either going to watch it in a sports bar or at a friend's house. There's no way I'm going to risk the streams going down for this fight.

I think that you can suscribe to Bein for cheap and for a short period of time, but I'm not sure.

If you're going to watch it at home, NTV.mx is a gem of a service. Tried it a few times and quality is excellent, as is the support. I think they are located in mexico where copyright laws are much more lax. I'm planning on buying the service for a month this Saturday, which should be in time for the Villa game, as well as the next four matches as long as they are televised, inc City and Chelsea. Also looking forward to watching the new Game of Thrones season live as it airs.
