Im just amazed they quoted someone by the name of 'hitchcocker'.....still it is the Sun.
Simple - Rooney has probably agreed a mega deal with City.Well. Truely shocked by all of this. It just didn't seem real did it, until today.
Of all the people in the world, no one had Rooney down to leave United. Even non United fans had him as a "lifer" at the club, I mean he has even said that countless times himself.
Something is a bit out of place here. His best season with the club and finally the main man with Ronaldo having left, yet he decides to pack it all in, seemingly for no apparent reason? Well obviously there is a reason, just hope Rooney is man enough to come out and be honest about it. What I find very interesting is the fact he won't even look at an offer from the club. Never heard of anything like that at all. This leads me to think a few things:
1) Coleen has had a large influence on this decision, with wanting to get him away from United and save their marriage (which would suggest a move abroad as the only viable option)
2) Rooney genuinely feels United are going nowhere and has become disillusioned with Tevez and Ronaldo leaving the club. Maybe he knows more than the fans do. If this is the case though, why say in February he wanted to stay for life.
Reading between the lines, this isn't about money.
The other thing that is interesting is why the club have decided to come out with this, and more importantly, why has Stretford / Rooney?
If Wayne wanted to leave, fair enough, but why make it so public. This could have been done on the quiet so United could have got a good price for him and Rooney got the move he desired. Now both parties are in an awkward position. United stand to get nothing for him, and Rooney stands to potentially not play football.
To be quite honest, this whole affair is a fiasco and even Sir Alex's interview leaves alot of questions that need answering.
Putting the animosity towards Rooney to one side for a moment, the club need to take a long look at themselves. Rooney, from his own mouth, was desperate to sign a long term life contract, yet negotiations were put on hold. Vidic nearly went the same way. Something is seriously not right when a club lets its best players run contracts up to this extent.
Anyone would think the club wasn't in hundreds of millions of debt...

The forum does seem to get a regular mention during times of scandal or transfer sagas. The Caf has been a quote-house for the national press for ages. Dozens of Caftards have been quoted over recent years.
It is always the embarrassing ones, oddly except with the Glazers where some intelligent things have been quoted.

I really don't think this is about money. Just can't see it. I think when Rooney goes, it will be to do with Coleen, Kai and his marriage. I certainly don't think it will be anywhere in England. Rooney grew up when United were winning everything, he has been there and done that now. I reckon he will fancy going abroad, and what perfect timing with all the scandal and media pressure built up on him.Simple - Rooney has probably agreed a mega deal with City.
He told United in the summer that doesn't intend to sign a contract extension.
Understandably, SAF/Gill were shocked, but tried to see if they could change the boy's mind and get another good year out him, like Ronaldo
Rooney has sulked and under-performed, and Fergie made up his mind that it's impossible to change the boys mind. He is gone. Therefore, United are alerting everyone and saying that Mr. Rooney is available. This is a hedge to Rooney running down the contract and walking out on a free (5MM). Hopefully a few will be interested enough and bid a decent price.
I think the leaks to the media and today's conference is United playing their hand. Ball is firmly into Wayne's court, while a few buyers will be sniffing around.
Oh, and Cristiano Ronaldo is a much better player and treated the club with much more grace than the grannyfecker. Always believed the former, never thought I'd say the latter.
Whereas when he moves to Manchester City, which every indication in the world suggests is what is going on here, you will think it is because he is the victim of Evil Mr. Ferguson not being "supportive" enough, which is the bollocks his people were feeding to the journos on Sunday night.I really don't think this is about money. Sir Alex Ferguson says Rooney leaving is letting Man Utd down | The Sun |NewsLord Sugar has branded Wayne Rooney an "ungrateful s***" for wanting to leave.
The former Tottenham chairman, 63, also praised Sir Alex Ferguson's comments and urged the United boss not to play the want-away striker until his contract runs out.
He Tweeted: "If it was me I would not let Rooney play again for Man Utd. Stick him rotting in the reserves."
The Apprentice chief speculated that Rooney's agent was telling him to run down his contract and leave on a free transfer to get higher wages.
Has it made the US sports talk circuits yet?Is there anyone not commenting on it? Maybe Osborne plans on cutting Wayne Rooney.
I'm hoping it is the case that he's doing it to save his marriage, but I get the feeling it wouldn't be playing out this way if it was.I really don't think this is about money. Just can't see it. I won't think it is anything. Just giving my opinion. I am as shocked by this as the next person, really hurt by it all.Whereas when he moves to Manchester City, which every indication in the world suggests is what is going on here, you will think it is because he is the victim of Evil Mr. Ferguson not being "supportive" enough, which is the bollocks his people were feeding to the journos on Sunday night.
Victim!
We all saw it....The press conference, and the following MUTV interview.I still cant believe this ? Did anyone actually see the press conference or is this just media quotes ???
No it isn't, you're in denial. This is a tactic to get Rooney to sign a contract, nothing more. or am I in denial ?
Reports are that Rooney is going to sell his side of the story to the tabloids.I won't think it is anything. Just giving my opinion. I am as shocked by this as the next person, really hurt by it all.
For what its worth, I think Sir Alex did brilliantly today. Couldn't help but feel sorry for him though.
This whole scenario is fishy whichever way you look at it.
* The club stand to lose millions over a player they could have tied to a long term deal a few months ago.
* Rooney suddenly changes his mind after having his best season in a Untied shirt and arguably playing some of his most natural football at the club.
* Fergie having met with the player, yet still none the wiser as to why he wants to leave
* Rooney agreeing with the whole "ankle gate" a few weeks ago, to suddenly changing his mind.
I could go on...
There are far too many ifs and buts in all of this, but one thing is for sure, Rooney needs to face the media and answer some questions as the fans at least deserve that.
You're in denial, mate, and apparently Denial is in fact located on the Moon.I still cant believe this ? Did anyone actually see the press conference or is this just media quotes ???
Unfecking believable !!!
Is SAF trying to get Rooney to sign a contract by using fan pressure as a leverage ? If it's true, it makes no sense to tell the media about it as it only lowers any transfer fee we are likely to get.
If Fergie knew about it since May and has been talking to Rooney, why would he act all disappointed and let down now ? It could have been a shock a few months back but he should have gotten over it by now.
This is a tactic to get Rooney to sign a contract, nothing more. or am I in denial ?
Because of the potential for speculation if we completely at random sold Rooney in January that it was a panic sell, we received a good offer and immediately fecked our best player over, the Glazers are selling our best players to fill their debt hole etc etc.If Wayne wanted to leave, fair enough, but why make it so public. This could have been done on the quiet so United could have got a good price for him and Rooney got the move he desired. Now both parties are in an awkward position. But the accepted view is that Coleen has no aspirations of going abroad at present.I really don't think this is about money. Just can't see it. Is this true?...Where's this from Jase?Reports are that Rooney is going to sell his side of the story to the tabloids.
He'll come out in a head scarf smoking a hookah talking about how he's always admired Eastern culture, like, and their liberal attitudes towards marriage and that, la.I am sure there will be a statement from Rooneys camp tomorrow. And I am sure it'll be some bullshit about United not meeting his ambitions or something. Because he's never going to admit it's because of money. Whenever contract negotiations break down players come up with some bullshit reason that makes them seem less of the mercenaries that they really are.
This simply cant be true...didn't Newcastle better our offer when we originally signed him. I am certain its not about the money and even if it were, we would still offer him the contract to become the highest paid player in the world.I am sure there will be a statement from Rooneys camp tomorrow. And I am sure it'll be some bullshit about United not meeting his ambitions or something. Because he's never going to admit it's because of money. Maybe, although no written statement could easily come close to matching the impact and emotion of yesterday's press conference.I am sure there will be a statement from Rooneys camp tomorrow. And I am sure it'll be some bullshit about United not meeting his ambitions or something. Because he's never going to admit it's because of money. One of the 'respectable' journos on twitter this afternoon said he was "in negotiations with" a paper to tell his side of the story. Is this true?...Where's this from Jase?
If so, it just gets worse..They live in a fecking dreamland
It will just make it more muckier then. One of the 'respectable' journos on twitter this afternoon said he was "in negotiations with" a paper to tell his side of the story.
Why on earth give an exclusive for any other reason except the old fashioned one?
If it turns out to be true it is staggering.
I agree they live in total dreamland.
I just don't see it being about money. I guess part of me doesn't see Rooney as being interested in playing for City either. They mean nothing to him. He always said when he grew up supporting Everton, United won it all. That is what he aspired to and that is what he got. There can be no ambition on his part to go and play for City down the road, win what he has already won at United and play for Mancini? But the accepted view is that Coleen has no aspirations of going abroad at present.
Steve Claridgge is in agreement with you though, on the radio last night he refuses to believe that money could be a factor.
Pat Nevin reckons that Rooney was tapped up in the summer, his agent and he lured by Arabian riches. Closer to the mark IMO.
"Fan pressure"This simply cant be true...didn't Newcastle better our offer when we originally signed him. I am certain its not about the money and even if it were, we would still offer him the contract to become the highest paid player in the world.
Its SAF trying to get him to sign a contract by dialing up the fan pressure.
I think it is about money, plain and simple. After a blockbuster season he wants to be the best paid player in England. And finds himself well behind Yaya Toure. This simply cant be true...didn't Newcastle better our offer when we originally signed him. sign the contract cnut or the next one will be a cantona kung fu kick to the cockWas that just the poor tackling Scholes or part of the nasty side of him sending Rooney a message.
Whenever I switched to sportscenter, the coverage has largely been about the baseball play offs or fecking Favre's sexting. You're in denial, mate, and apparently Denial is in fact located on the Moon.
How can you not have seen it all by now?
