Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

His post match interview just now was a car crash. He really wants to be Pep, completely unhinged.

Glad he was angry, should have seen me and my son at half time, that first half was nothing but shoddy.

I really dislike everything Geordie Arabia has become.

But I would LOVE IT, LOVE IT, if they beat Arse next game, the meltdown should be pretty special

I mean, he took over a broken team, your basically saying most of his transfers have been poor, but somehow Arsenal have went from 8th to the 2nd best team in the country for perhaps 3 consecutive seasons and now, last 4 in Europe?
So someone, somewhere must be doing something right? The players bought have been poor, the coach isn't a good coach, and yet here we are, falling upwards?
Isn’t it funny that the ‘broken team’ is the only team he’s won something tangible with?

Yeah, just as well progress and performance isn't just measured by winning cups, as Amorim pointed out today?

Honestly, there's some stupid arguments about trying to belittle achievements etc but there's not many as daft as this.
This thread is radioactive waste just like the Rice one. There is no substance or thought about anything regarding them. Just a group of hyenas waiting to scrutinize every word, every pass to downplay what they do.
Next season will be very important once he finally get a striker and fit Zubimendi into the side. A real challenge until the last day for the league is necessary but i'm not buying the "he has to or he's gone". City will spend disgusting amounts this summer and it will be very hard again. Liverpool with a Nunez replacement will also be up there.
Another deep run in the CL, league challenge and one of the two cups to shut the idiots up would be fine.

Yeah, i don't know why i get drawn in but i always do. I mean, countless managers talk about the league performance being the true barometer & progress of a team. Amorim said it yesterday, greats like Fergie & Shankly have said it in the past. Ten Hag was sacked because of it. Amorim is under massive pressure already because of it. Spurs fans want Ange out even if they win the Europa League because of it. We got rid of our greatest modern era manager because of it. Yet, for some internet banter, we are really being led to believe that winning an FA Cup or a Europa League should hide that fact because 'it's all about trophies'. And yet, fans that say this, are basically enabling the fact that it's ok for a great club like Utd to become essentially a cup team.

The only reason he won that was because it wasn't his team.
That's clearly not what I said.

The 'broken' team finished 5th only two points away from 3rd the season before Arteta took over. He may very well finish more close to that than close to winning this year i.e. almost five years after he was appointed and after having spent 700+ millions. But then again if your fan base is happy with such progress without winning any cups in between then I don't have a problem with that.

Also, his squad building is overrated. Saka and Saliba are still their two best players that he didn't sign. Out of 30 odds players he bought, only a few of them have been of top quality.

But the broken team were playing well worse than the team that finished 5th. They were in 11th place, hadn't won in 7 games, worst set of results since 1992, being beat by Frankfurt at home in the Europa League, and were all over the place tactically conceding 30 shots a game to Watford. Emery had lost the dressing room to the point he was a fun figure. That 5th place finish was long in the rear view mirror.

I'm content with progress mate, I want the trophies, but I'm happy with the base where we are that with a good transfer window we can remain competitive, and believe the trophies will come if the team quality is good. I think that's more sustainable and more enjoyable than winning the odd cup but getting beat 15 times over a league season.

I know we are a bigger joke than them right now but they are a joke nonetheless. I saw the meme of arteta saying ‘ I win trophies in my seventh year, mate’ made me chuckle.

I knows some fans would argue that they won the FA cup in their first year but not with the team that this shithead built that he is proud of. Plus not the trophy they argue ‘they say would like to win’. Whatever helps you sleep at night, mate!

Eh....yeah that meme (and your justification for it) doesn't work....mate!
