I don't celebrate his sacking, but I am relieved he's gone. He was never the right fit for this club and it was an ill thought out appointment. Wrong man, wrong time, wrong place.

Normally I feel sorry for people who lose their jobs, but the severance package means I don't, in this case. He's entitled to it and it will keep the wolves away from the door for a while.
 
Ideally the next guy to come in has to be the new full time one. The new guy can treat this next 5 months as his analysis period and then know exactly who goes, who stays and who’s needs to brought in during the summer.

So Jardim would be great for me. Pochettino is a vastly expensive and hard to get pipe dream for me. I’d move on from him.

Yes, his time here can be associated with failure, but he certainly brought us back to champions league.

I can't get excited about his football if I'm being honest. Spurs play some decent stuff but it's definitely towards the efficient and of the scale, compared to some of the other options out there.
 
In any other business if a person gave an indivdual in a company a 6 year contract based on their judgement and then sacks him just months later, surely has to be questioned and removed themselves? Ed woodward will only continue with further chaos!

This. Also nobody will leave their current job to take interim place at United, so that is another bunch of names to cross out. I think people might not know what interim manager means.

What an amazing business the football business is.This is more or less the same thing that happened with Jose in his last two jobs at Chelsea and Real Madrid.He makes an impression in his first year or two and in his 3rd year he turns on everyone and gets the sack and the big payday that goes with it.
You would almost think he did on purpose,Certainly even Mike Bassett couldn't have made bigger 'pigs breakfast' out of our team than Jose has in the last few months.

10 years ago this was certainly true however it is nearly 2019 and things have changed.
 
Things started so well, its hard to remember now cos of how dour things have been but that summer bringing in Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Zlatan and Bailly really seemed like we had finally sorted our shit out.

For all our under performance I do think the squad is in better nick than when Mou took over. And we might see some lasting changes to the decision making and a DOF brought in.
 
It would be totally up to Pochettino. If he said yes, then United would pay the clause money.
 
Specialist in failure. Took over the biggest job in the EPL, spent 400 mil and completely screwed it up beyond redemption.

He won us our first European Trophy since 2008...

He won a Domestic Cup...

He finished above Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal last season.

I have respect for the positives that he did achieve, but they should've let him go in the Summer and should have never given him that silly contract extension.

Then we'd be able to look back at his time and the trophies won without the sourness of this half a season.

One thing I would add is - do not count him out as a manager in the future. He'll be determined to prove everyone wrong now and win big again, and with time to reset his mindset, I wouldn't be surprised if is winning titles and competing in the CL again with another club.
 
I hope this Pochettino story dies down or else it will be like Moyes going after Fabregas.
 
Trophies, second place finish and some good signings aside, I thank Jose for exposing our problems at United. I thank him for moaning about the need to sign players and spend more to compete.

Good thing he is gone now. For me, the solution is not just in hiring a new manager. Like Jose said repeatedly, we have to spend more. This team needs to be fixed and the footballing part of the club should be in the hands of a DoF or new manager. Players also need to be checked. In the United I know, the boss is the boss, period. This is what I want to see in our next phase. A new manager who plays attacking football and is totally backed in the transfer market while his authority in the dressing room is indisputable.

Yeh. Nothing to do with us being 6th in the league and 19 points off the top.

Absolutely the right decision and the only problem with it being it's come too late.
 
Thank god he's gone, other things need to change of course, but Mourinho's childish behaviour was sucking the life out of the club.

Can actually be bothered now to have a look when we're on over Christmas on the TV.

I don't think so. Unless we drop even further, he won't really be considered a failure I think. We have nothing to play for (CL nobody is expecting, maybe FA Cup) and people are looking at the players and saying they are underperforming/shit themselves
