Just seeing this, but is this the highest number of preseason games we are going to play ? I don't remember us playing 8 games.

That's a packed preseason schedule.

Wrexham is basically a U21 match for us and we'll likely play 100% different team + subs in the Athletic match compared to the Lens game.

Not expecting a fast start considering the majority of our squad are still on the beach and we can't sign anything

Can't see Evans name on there maybe we're selling him already.

Evans will probably fly to the Wrexham game with some of the younger players who didn't make the tour squad?

Fred listed as not included for personal reasons. Surely he's leaving? Few players included that I would have hoped we were closer to selling. Thought Elanga was on the way out?

Glad to see Mainoo, Hannibal and Gore are on the tour. Well deserved after the first 2 games

Might be but he still needs a pre-season. A chance to get his price up too.

Same. Maybe leaving them out gives us less of a bargaining position fee wise hence keeping them involved.

Surprised to see 4 keepers already there, as was hoping Onana would join and I'm not sure we'd need 5. And surprised there's no Kovar in that four - unless he's set for a move, but then I'd have thought that applied to a few on there (Heaton, Henderson, Elanga...)

Also, does that include the players set to feature in the Wrexham game? I'd expect most of the youngsters / bit part players that'll feature in that are there - but I'd have expected Evans, and maybe Hugill, to feature in that match as well and they don't seem to be travelling.

Didn’t think Henderson would be back at the club after some of his shitty comments, a shame to see him still here.

If I understand this correctly... the game vs Wrexham is a whole other team than the rest of the team on the tour. So no one from the team announced for the tour will play vs Wrexham

Guess we are nowhere near selling some players reported to be close to moves. Disappointing to see Henderson (Kovar on the move?), Elanga and Fred named plus I can’t see McTominay or Maguire going anywhere unfortunately.

Hopefully we are working 24/7 on a CF. Season starts three weeks Friday and as the two pre season games have shown, we are on rinse and repeat with regards to wasting chances.

We can’t rely on Liverpool and Chelsea being as bad again next season, I highly doubt they will be and I think we’ll have a real struggle for top 4 this time.

I certainly wouldn't expect any of the main players to feature, no, as we play Wrexham on the 26th and Real Madrid on the 27th - so certainly all the key players will be saved for the Madrid game.

But I'd have thought some of the youngsters named in that squad - Fernandez, Mainoo, Gore, Hannibal, Forson, etc - who are unlikely to get too many minutes v Madrid - would have got some playing time v Wrexham? Otherwise, if we're even leaving out them, then that's going to be a very young and inexperienced team to put out in a rather high profile friendly.

I'm thinking about all the travelling. New Jersey one day, San Diego the next and then Houston, all in 3-4 days.

The team was always going to be young and inexperienced, that was literally the point.

It was described as “A youth-focused team drawn from United’s travelling squad, supplemented by Academy prospects” when we announced the game.

New Jersey then Houston. It’s a completely different squad going to San Diego.

Well, yes, that was very much what I said I expected it to be - no senior players, some other academy players, but, then some, as you quoted "drawn from United’s travelling squad".

The original poster said it was to be players from a completely different group, with no players from the main travelling squad featuring. I was just saying I was expecting, as the quote you gave indicated, that some of the youngsters from the travelling squad - the likes of Fernandez, Mainoo, Gore, Hannibal... - would be starters against Wrexham rather than bit part players at most, v Madrid.

Though, as has been pointed out in other posts, the amount of travelling may mean it's a completely separate group.

Yes he is a part of that squad.
So is Kovar likely to be part of that squad, then?

I'd have probably expected Forson, and maybe Gore, to be used for that squad rather than the main one - similar to how the likes of Hugill and Emeran have missed out. But great for them that they've been included along with the other (closer to the first team) youngsters.
