We had similar last year if I recall correctly? But I don't remember exactly how it was handled.Maybe the squad will play a half in each game.

Just seeing this, but is this the highest number of preseason games we are going to play ? I don't remember us playing 8 games.Tour 2023:
12 July -- Leeds, Ullevaal Stadium, Norway
19 July -- Olympique Lyonnais, Edinburgh, Scotland
22 July – Arsenal, MetLife Stadium, New Jersey
25 July – Wrexham, Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego
26 July – Real Madrid, NRG Stadium, Houston
30 July – Borussia Dortmund, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas
5 August – Lens, Old Trafford
6 August – Athletic, Aviva Stadium
Wrexham is basically a U21 match for us and we'll likely play 100% different team + subs in the Athletic match compared to the Lens game.Just seeing this, but is this the highest number of preseason games we are going to play ? I don't remember us playing 8 games.
That's a packed preseason schedule.
What a joke.. why would United play freaking Wrexham in San Diego?
One player who hasn't made the flight is Fred.
The Brazilian has remained in the UK to deal with a personal issue, but he is expected to join up with the rest of the squad shortly.
Rhys Bennett and Tyrell Malacia have unfortunately had to miss out due to injury.
Aye. He's the best and most suitable keeper for EtH's system currently at the club. Probably on his way to Sparta Prague then.Kovar
Might be but he still needs a pre-season. A chance to get his price up too.Fred listed as not included for personal reasons. Surely he's leaving? Few players included that I would have hoped we were closer to selling. Thought Elanga was on the way out?
Guessing he'll be in the other squad playing vs WrexhamKovar
So many people fail to grasp this. Any player we’ll sign will hopefully have a preseason at his current club.Might be but he still needs a pre-season. A chance to get his price up too.
Same. Maybe leaving them out gives us less of a bargaining position fee wise hence keeping them involved.Fred listed as not included for personal reasons. Surely he's leaving? Few players included that I would have hoped we were closer to selling. Thought Elanga was on the way out?
Very disappointing if true.Looks like Kovar is definitely gone then.
Permanently or loan?Looks like Kovar is definitely gone then.
I certainly wouldn't expect any of the main players to feature, no, as we play Wrexham on the 26th and Real Madrid on the 27th - so certainly all the key players will be saved for the Madrid game.If I understand this correctly... the game vs Wrexham is a whole other team than the rest of the team on the tour. So no one from the team announced for the tour will play vs Wrexham
Given Rosicky quotes, it'll be permanent as they're looking for a long term GK.Permanently or loan?
Seems that way though can’t understand the logic for playing him today in that case.Looks like Kovar is definitely gone then.
I'm thinking about all the travelling. New Jersey one day, San Diego the next and then Houston, all in 3-4 days.I certainly wouldn't expect any of the main players to feature, no, as we play Wrexham on the 26th and Real Madrid on the 27th - so certainly all the key players will be saved for the Madrid game.
But I'd have thought some of the youngsters named in that squad - Fernandez, Mainoo, Gore, Hannibal, Forson, etc - who are unlikely to get too many minutes v Madrid - would have got some playing time v Wrexham? Otherwise, if we're even leaving out them, then that's going to be a very young and inexperienced team to put out in a rather high profile friendly.
The team was always going to be young and inexperienced, that was literally the point.I certainly wouldn't expect any of the main players to feature, no, as we play Wrexham on the 26th and Real Madrid on the 27th - so certainly all the key players will be saved for the Madrid game.

New Jersey then Houston. It’s a completely different squad going to San Diego.I'm thinking about all the travelling. New Jersey one day, San Diego the next and then Houston, all in 3-4 days.
Well, yes, that was very much what I said I expected it to be - no senior players, some other academy players, but, then some, as you quoted "drawn from United’s travelling squad".The team was always going to be young and inexperienced, that was literally the point.
It was described as “A youth-focused team drawn from United’s travelling squad, supplemented by Academy prospects” when we announced the game.
What about Evans?
Yes he is a part of that squad.Evans will probably fly to the Wrexham game with some of the younger players who didn't make the tour squad?
True. Good point.I'm thinking about all the travelling. New Jersey one day, San Diego the next and then Houston, all in 3-4 days.
Yup, read somewhere that Evans will be included in the squad vs Wrexham. Maybe Kovar also then....New Jersey then Houston. It’s a completely different squad going to San Diego.

So is Kovar likely to be part of that squad, then?Yes he is a part of that squad.
