Big guns never get full punishment. Juventus was only example where punishment was tough but even they should have been punished way harder than they were.

Any indication as to punishments?
First, they have to be found guilty of Sports corruption. According to this lawyer, and the Spanish Supreme Court precedent, for that it has to be proven that:

--There was "promising", "offering", "granting", "receiving", "requesting" or "accepting" benefits or advantages of any nature, not justified and in breach of their obligations.

--It happened with the purpose of deliberately and fraudulently predetermining or altering the result of a test, meeting or sports competition.

If this is proven then the possible penalties are:
To the involved people: between 2 years and 3 months and 5 years in prison.
To the club: the prohibition of continuing activities from 1 to 5 years, closing of facilities, dissolution of the club, or a fine of thrice the benefits that they got from it.

UEFA's sanctions (if there were any, they haven't started any investigation yet) could include a ban from European competitions, like the one to Anderlecht.

FIFA's can give harder sanctions like relegation to a lower division or expulsion from a competition in progress or from future competitions, but they haven't even started any investigation yet)

Can’t see how they can’t be? The rest of the league are pushing for full punishment
Happened in Italy didn't it? That was for that sort of stuff wasn't it.
La Liga won’t care about the other clubs, the league is very dependent on having both Barcelona and Real Madrid fighting it out for the title and the games between the two gather by far the largest audience of all games. They can’t afford having Barcelona in second division even for a year, or risk them becoming non-competitive even for a short period of time.

Italy have multiple well supported, popular teams so they could live without Juventus for a whole. La Liga cannot exist in its current form without a strong Barcelona team which is why they will let it slide, again.

UEFA handing them a symbolic one season ban is possible. La Liga doing anything to hurt them is not.

I still have bad dreams of Van Persie’s second yellow.

Was so obvious they had referees in their pocket
Ref couldn't wait to send off van persie. What was the score at the time? I kinda have this feeling it was 1-1 or something. And bendtner missed a late chance

Imagine after a decade of nightmares for us, we somehow come out the other end with 2 league title

What a past 10-15 years this is turning out to be for us, 2 extra league titles, 2 Champions Leagues.

What a ride

22-5 seems more elite for sure...

Are we talking just finals, because what about the teams they knocked out on the road to winning those finals. I'm thinking specifically 2009? :wenger:

Just finals, sorry.

Although Barca/Chelsea had some dodgy dodgy refereeing. Including the Barca sending off :nervous:

In other circumstances it would have not surprised me to see both of Ballack and Drogba being sent off for that.
In light of the whole night I think the fact they weren’t sent off speaks volumes. Normally a referee wouldn’t stand for that abuse if they fully believed in what they’d done, seems like a guilty conscience could have been at play now.

I ask ChatGPT to write a poem:

A scandal rocks the world of football,
As news of Barcelona's cheating befalls,
They bribed the referee for an unfair edge,
And now their reputation hangs by a thread.

Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi, once heroes,
Now their tears fall, their legacy in zeroes,
Their club's once-pristine name now tarnished,
Their cheating ways, finally uncovered.

But the image of the heartbroken Culés fan,
Crying with anger, as the truth is now at hand,
They hate the people who exposed their club's deceit,
They hate the truth, and the pain it now bequeaths.

The beautiful game was once pure and true,
But Barcelona's actions brought it askew.
Their hatred grows, for they've been exposed,
Their cheating ways, now fully disclosed.

The world of football shakes its head,
As Barcelona's deceit is laid out and spread.
The Culés now scorn, their faith betrayed,
Their love for the game, now deeply frayed.

Pep and Messi, once heroes of the pitch,
Now face the truth, their reputation at risk.
Their legacy now tainted, their greatness in doubt,
Their cheating ways, now fully laid out.

The beautiful game will rise again,
But the pain of Barcelona's cheating remains.
Their actions will not be easily forgotten,
For they have left a stain that will never be begotten.

They can’t financially sanction a team that has no finances to begin with.

I really want to believe that they will be punished hard but can't. Corruption will find its way to save them. Same as City.

The charge is a logical step after those leaks of course. No one is denying this payment. Now we'll see if barca broke the rules by bribing the refs or really just payed him for consultation as the club tells. If our club bribed the refs, then punishment is neccessary according to the law as well as take away the trophies from that period. If there was no bribing, everyone needs to move on.
What‘s your explanation for the huge payments with nothing to show for it?

Nah Barça is guilty, time to relegate the goatfecking cheaters.

It’s madness how bent the leagues are, and to think they’d have got away with this and probably have done before this incident got picked up.

Just start relegating teams who are cheating, forget sanctions, do not pass go, do not collect, just get back down to the bottom tier.

Most of them sound like the kind of thing that would bankrupt them with their current finances. Probably no harm if they had to restart from scratch.

What did it say? Posts been removed since.
Partidazo] Extract from the Public Prosecutor's complaint against FC Barcelona for the payments to Enriquez Negreira. "Barça reached an agreement in exchange for money to obtain actions tending to favour the club in the decision making of the referees in the matches".

Its all a conspiracy by Franco.

Madrid got a very illogical penalty to make it 3 0 in a meaningless game back in 05-06. Why does no oneninvestigate them???

This is just Franco and Florentino out to get Barca. Justice will prevail.

It makes me sad to think of all the corruption that goes on in football

My best guess to any I’ve witnessed is that Nani red card vs Madrid

This was the first thing I thought. That and how it went undetected for decades given that it’s out there in plain sight.
It wasn't that obvious, I don't think.

Basically it's just one company receiving relatively small amounts of money (on a yearly basis) from a big club. I'm sure they pay lots and lots of companies.
