I see no reason to change. And if we were to change, Ole remains the only manager post-Ferguson that will have left us in a stronger position than the one he inherited. The way he has reorganised the squad has been brilliant, in my opinion.
There is lots of room for improvement, though. I think we should be playing better than we are. Unlike last season, the teams he is putting out there are full of good players. So it’s fair to say that some of the performances just aren’t good enough.
With that said, there are games in which we do look genuinely impressive. We actually play a little more like a big side as opposed to sitting back in fear. I think we are more likely to score goals, too. Scoring goals has been the issue under all of our previous managers and Ole is on the way to addressing that, in spite of poor backing in the transfer market in this area.
I think we give Ole until the end of the season and then evaluate. If the performances don’t pick up and we struggle to reach top four then I think calls for his dismissal will have some weight.
If it didn’t work out, I actually think that there is room for a strategic position at United for Ole. I can’t stress enough just how much better and balanced our squad is looking under him. It wasn’t that long ago that Ashley Young would have been playing at left back yesterday, with Fellaini in midfield and Lukaku up top. Times are better.
