Maguire hasn't covered himself in glory ever since that Greek incident. As I've mentioned in the thread I want him gone ASAP but won't boo him if he's on the pitch as he's not at fault for being crap.I remember when we used to call opposition fans (particularly Madrid fans) 'spoilt' for pulling stunts like this.
Booing one of your own is poor form. Doesn't matter if it is Fellaini, Nani, Pogba or Harry. Yes, a player might not be good enough, but resorting to targeted booing is pathetic from you as a fan.
I doubt Maguire goes on the pitch hoping to make an error, or to have a bad game. And I doubt any of those fans know the man personally to infer that he "lacks self awareness". His only crime is playing a sport he probably loves and is dedicated to, and finding himself in our club. At least respect the players who have come before and what the club is supposed to represent by bot booing one of it's player.
And if booing is okay, where do we draw the line? Would it be okay to boo another player next month? Ten Haag?
Well that's fine. What matter to his career here is EtH's thought, i.e. how often he'll play.I suppose it comes down to personality. But surely sooner or later the type of cheering he’s receiving will start to make him feel like conjoined fetus lady from South Park
And last year tour in Aussie alsoOf course you're wrong. He was booed in the USA too. A hell of a-lot of fans are totally fed up with him and want to show that they want him to feck off. That's all it's about.
I swear, people are tying themselves into knots because a player got booed. Disapproving is absolutely fine, but feck me, the whole thing has been blown so out of proportion. And last year tour in Aussie also

But probably lots of Irish there? heh.
I agree, if people want to boo they can. Don't feel sorry for someone stealing a living getting hundreds of thousands a week. I wouldn't boo myself but can understand fans fed up with mistakes practically every match. Shouldn't be anywhere near the club. What else is a supporter to do to show his or her displeasure with a player? Contact Maguire on his social media? Write a post on Redcafe? They are allowed to let Harry Maguire know they are fed up with his mistakes. I wouldnt be booing him but i certainly wouldnt be clapping or cheering so Harry Maguire wouldnt hear the boos. Some fans want to hold him accountable for his mistakes while another group of fans just feels like he deserves support, no matter all the mistakes he made, just because he is a Manchester United player. In a normal work or life situation people are going to be held accountable for their mistakes but football doesnt always work like normal situations.
It appears ETH’s thoughts are clear to everyone except for Maguire. But if we give Maguire some credibility then we have to say he doesn’t care and is happy to be 4th or even 5th choice and just get the pay check and other benefits of being a United player.Well that's fine. What matter to his career here is EtH's thought, i.e. how often he'll play.
It's his fault to not learning to keep it simple. Doing all those high profile mistakes which could have been minimized if he tried to stick to the basics at least to minimized his errors which he made a plenty. The booing of him needs to stop. It’s not really his fault he is shit, it’s not really his fault he gets game time. He is still human he still has a family. Majority of the owns booing are probably to first to campaign or claim they struggle with mental health.
need to go grow up a little
Wait...who's fault is it for him being crap if not his own?Maguire hasn't covered himself in glory ever since that Greek incident. As I've mentioned in the thread I want him gone ASAP but won't boo him if he's on the pitch as he's not at fault for being crap.
That having said, I can understand some voicing their frustration as he's getting 200k per week and he's reaching Taibi level of incompetence.
I also hate it when some fans target United fans based in the USA or Ireland, considering we've heard ST holders booing Fellaini not so long ago at OT and I'm pretty sure we will hear more boo's at OT if Maguire is still here come the end of the month.
Totally agree.I’m not sure why fans should boo him for being a limited player. He’s not disrespected the club in anyway (like say Lukaku or Pogba) and it’s not his fault that managers keep playing him despite his limitations. Same thing happened with Fellaini who despite being limited never disrespected the club but got booed
bingo.I’m not sure why fans should boo him for being a limited player. He’s not disrespected the club in anyway (like say Lukaku or Pogba) and it’s not his fault that managers keep playing him despite his limitations. Face 80,000 odd people supposed to be your supporters booing and screaming abuse at you while trying to do your job, millions revelling in your suffering online and taking their pound of flesh, and come back and tell me how trivial that feels.Trivialising domestic abuse. You should get a warning for this type of bollox tbh.
He was nowhere as bad as in the past 1-2 years thoughThink the booing is certainly not warranted.
He did not set the fee, nor is he being unprofessional. He is just not very good.
I don't like the booing but it's quite understandable imo. If a player plays well he gets the applauses, if a player plays badly he gets the booing. He's been bad for more than a year.Think the booing is certainly not warranted.
He did not set the fee, nor is he being unprofessional. He is just not very good.
Think this is why he makes so many errors tbh.Do fans really believe he will become better or more confident if they boo him?
It is pathetic and embarrassing, Maguire or any other player
If you have a look at how Madrid and Barca fans treat their own players we're actually saintlike here imo.The treatment of Maguire is a stain on our fanbase. We, like any other club, loves to think that we have one of the best sets of supporters. This proves that we do not. In fact, we are one of the worst.
Booing players has absolutely no positive effects whatsoever. It doesn’t “maintain standards” at all, it either demoralises them or makes them not give a shit anymore. If you have a look at how Madrid and Barca fans treat their own players we're actually saintlike here imo.
Tbh I don't get the idea why fans are not allowed to or should not boo the players from some of our posters. Good players get the applauses, bad players get the boo. It should go both ways that's fair imo.
Tbh I don't like booing but it does help in maintaining our supposed standard I think. If you don't want to get booed you should start playing better. If you can't play better just leave. Fans pay to watch you it's not free.
Aren’t they booing him more as a signal that they want him to go? Like when fans would boo the Glazers? Not saying I condone it, far from it.The booing of him needs to stop. It’s not really his fault he is shit, it’s not really his fault he gets game time. He is still human he still has a family. Majority of the owns booing are probably to first to campaign or claim they struggle with mental health.

I think he’s been bullied to quite frankly disgusting degree in the past 2 years, being not likeable shouldn’t be a thumbs up to make the feckers life hell.I swear, people are tying themselves into knots because a player got booed. Disapproving is absolutely fine, but feck me, the whole thing has been blown so out of proportion.
The abuse isn't cool, but some booing? It's hardly the end of the world.
We should agree to disagree then. It might be not positive in the match, but in the long run it does imo.Booing players has absolutely no positive effects whatsoever. It doesn’t “maintain standards” at all, it either demoralises them or makes them not give a shit anymore.
Then they don't have the right mentality for the job.Booing players has absolutely no positive effects whatsoever. It doesn’t “maintain standards” at all, it either demoralises them or makes them not give a shit anymore.
Which Man United players have been boo'd by his own fans and came back strong? Then they don't have the right mentality for the job.
There have been great players in the past who have been vilified for whatever reason, but have come back strong. Not just in football, but in many sports.
Fellaini.Which Man United players have been boo'd by his own fans and came back strong?
Not saying there aren't any, just curious as an oppo fan.
Came back strong? You sacked him off to China.Fellaini.
The issue is, we're trying to understand the behaviour of absolute morons.I’m not sure why fans should boo him for being a limited player. He’s not disrespected the club in anyway (like say Lukaku or Pogba) and it’s not his fault that managers keep playing him despite his limitations. Same thing happened with Fellaini who despite being limited never disrespected the club but got booed
The Fellaini booing was a just a small section of the crowd doing it in one game. The issue is, we're trying to understand the behaviour of absolute morons.
He may not be remembered as the greatest player but he will surely not be forgotten and that’s what matters. He should change his name to Harry Booguire, then it'll feel like they're chanting his name.
