He was our best player in first half. Not great by all means but was only one who did something.
No he wasn't. He didn't do anything in the first half. He did a lot better in the second, handled press better, took care of the ball better and linked up better. He did none of that in the first 45, make no mistake about it.

Great goal, bought himself a new start for the next game with that goal, otherwise would be benched for Fred probably considering it was another average/poor performance, especially the first half. Probably even lucky to stay on ahead of Donny in the second half but it repaid for Ole, hopefully this means a lot to his form.

Fairly poor performance but I'd prefer to focus on the excellent and important goal (as I would undoubtedly do so if Bruno did similar while in the middle of an average performance). Hopefully it sparks some actual sustained form now.

What a hit.

Still being too slow with the ball and almost created a chance for West Ham at the end of game. The guy is incredible when he has his mood on. But, at times, you can't rely on him regularly. Well, nothing we don't know already.

He was the best player we had in the first half. Defensively put in a shift and kept the ball ticking over with no options. Not his fault Cavani and Martial kept losing the ball and Neville bizarrely decided to put the blame on Pogba for passing to them.

Class goal and was good once we got going with Bruno and Rashford.

Poor before that but every single player was.

What chance was that?

Unfortunately due to many aspects and he seems very unconfidence. Look at how his body language after he score the goal, improved.

Hopes he learn to get himself motivated again and be confident again.

Was the only ok player in the first half while literally everybody else was playing badly. VDB was as high as Cavani, Martial couldn't hold on to a pass to save his life, Cavani and Greenwood were ghosts. His job was to pass to these people, which he did ok, and then defend when it inevitably came back seconds later, which he did well.

Did anyone in the team other than him and AWB win a tackle that half?

Upsetted me enough with a failed run in acres of space and a lazy pass that I won't call his first half ok but he was definitely not far worse than the nonsense happening around him.

I'm often one of his biggest critic but truth is he had a pretty good match today. No more fancy stuffs. Keep the ball and move it forward. Defensively quite solid. Run a lot and made some very good recoveries. And what a cracking goal, that's simply class

More of the same please

Better second half. But that applied to everyone, so not really appropriate to criticise his first half - aside from his overhead kick!

would be great for us, if he can use this game and a great goal to kick on and regain some form.

Terrible first half, but in hindsight that was heavily influenced by lack of movement from Donny, Martial and Greenwood which didn’t offer him an outball. But idiotic Brain zaps like bicycle kick while defending is indefensible.

Pogba settled down on 2nd half, scored a crucial leveller with a wondergoal and ended the game strong as Bruno and Rashford were always finding space to receive Pogba passes.

Given it’s Pogba’s first start in a few games, it wasn’t a bad performance at all, rather Jekyll and Hyde just like the team.

I’m fed up hoping Pogba finds consistency but let’s hope once again that goal can inspire him to be a crucial squad member for us in next month.

I thought he was going to score goals like that all the time, like he did for Juve.

Thought he was all the place first half.

Got to give him credit for that goal though, what a strike. Good second half.

He's building team's consistency with that kind of performance... and he was always dangerous from long distance, way before his Juve days.

Just glad not only Bruno in this team can finish off teams from outside the box.

They were all shite, and he gave away the ball himself a couple times. I don't know why you're making up a narrative for Pogba here, he was equally shit as anyone in the first half.

Anyone noticed he seems much fitter and stronger this match? I don't recall he was outmuscled or lost his balance when challenged like in the previous matches. Run a lot as well.

Good lord. He was absolute crap in the first half but was much better in the second half.
Yes, he and every other outfield player were playing to a standard of Sunday league. However, to be fair, the forward line was not existent and never made themselves available. VDB was completely marked out of the game. It was when Rashford came on with Bruno completely flipped the game.

That's crap. He was the worst performer in the first half. Constantly dwelling on the ball in a high pressure game where we needed to move the ball quickly from midfield. He was constantly taking extra touches which simply attracted pressure to us. His lax work rate defensively and lack of general aggression is the reason we were forced to ball in our half for the majority of the first half. Our attackers could not get in the game.

You could make the argument that the VDB-Pogba combination did not work out. VDB as a no 10 is very dependent on service and moves off the ball to find danger zones. He's not as proactive as bruno, who came deeper to support the midfield. What the game displayed was that Pogba isn't really a playmaker himself, but if given the freedom to attack the space, due to having another playmaker in the side, he can be really effective. Unfortunately, this means Pogba does not fit well with VDB who also depends on a playmaker when at no.10.

I don't think we learned much about Paul today. He was really good at times in possession and poor out of it. Still can't envisage the midfield formation that will suit him. He's better with Bruno, who isn't, and with Rashford, ditto. But no way do I trust him to do anything defensively. Anyway, cracking goal, hopefully it's the start of a more positive phase for him.
