Again with the false dichotomy. As if good football and good results were mutually exclusive.

Remember 2012 > 2013 ?

We were dire in many games, might even have finished mid-table without RvP, but were Champions.

I'd go with that scenario again - we just need another RvP, though....

Three good points and some momentum as we close on the FA Cup Final.

Gotta day that I hate seeing the lack of an attacking identity. Having good attackers left to figure it out on their own just isn’t good enough. It made for a somewhat labored win against a team loaded with youngsters.

Looking at the table, we’ve just about gotten away with it. Maybe Mourinho & Co will grow the attack, but it’s hard to say what—if anything—they are trying to build in that department.

Pathetic game of football. Sort of shite an international friendly would have been embarrassed to serve up.

We deserved to win but that's a bit like saying you deserve to win a boxing match where your opponent dies of a heart attack before the match starts and you still only manage to win on points
 very opt analogy.

that was an incredible stat Sky had during the game

something like 283 games in the PL we'd been winning at half time.

from that winning position we drew 15 and lost none

Strange, I actually enjoyed that game, dominant from start to finish, never in doubt really, a proper old school game against a team we are expected to beat.
Yes we coasted, but it's difficult to raise your game against easy opposition, we did just that!!

We're better than we were last season, but that was absolute shite today - just an awful performance from start to finish.

Think the whole build up to the games made it feel like a testimonial for Wenger rather than a competitive PL game. It was weird. You felt some ex-Arsenal players were going to waddle on as substitutes.

I think tumescent has been the most used term for our play this calendar year and today was another prime example.
After the intensity of last weekend, back to normal service again today.
Get a goal up and contain, the same tactics repeated over and over. So very frustrating.
You could blame this on end of season syndrome if it hadn't been played out frequently during the year. But sure we won and all remains well

I am actually glad that I didn't get a ticket for this game as it was a very poor limp performance.

Proper end of the season feel, poor game, but we are turning into winners.

We approach the 80 point barrier for the first time in five years and we keep finding ways to win.

If we can build on this as a platform with 3-4 more signings in the obvious areas, I'm confident we can improve on this season.

That was my thoughts. Actually predicted it to end by a draw during HT to suit this friendly and it was very close to end like this. You feel as both teams were not bothered for today.

Agreed. As somebody in the matchday thread said, one was half-expecting to see Olly Murs substituted on.

Lindelof, Matic and Martial were our best players. The play wasn't fantastic but we got 3 more points, one win off 2nd spot sorted. Hopefully we get to see some youngsters for the last 2 games

Why does everyone act like Martial played any better than usual? He ran at defenders and lost the boss/made a bad pass almost every time except where he got lucky the ball bounced off the defender and into his path
Couldn't agree more. The lad cannot pass.

Would rather a so-so, boring performance and win 2-1 than play like the world's most exciting team and lose 6-5.

Can never understand some of the moaners on here.

Perhaps a reality check is needed - we're light years behind City still, but comfortably the best of the rest, so what more do they want ?
Some entertainment and enjoyment from watching my team would be nice

Weird game today. Felt like a testimonial or friendly with the pace and intensity it was played at. Can't say I'm surprised given the effort these players have shown in certain games this season. Glad we were able to get the win at least, but we made them look a lot better than they actually are.

At least we didn't let Wenger get one last win over us. Would have been nice to see Sanchez score against his former club, and he was oh so close to doing that too.

Okay - which of you is this?

Utterly clueless hyperbolic fan that is blind to the progress we've made since Moyes. Prat.

Fair enough we weren't at the races today with the game essentially a dead rubber, but this is after a United victory FFS! Wonder what he's like when we lose.

Lots of cafe posters rolled in one. He's so arrogant in the way he speaks too. Really irritating fellow.

What a moron. He would genuinely be happier if we lost all those big games.

Where does this attitude stem from? It's just idiots regurgitating what is written or said by other idiots , most of whom want United to burn.

Shite performance, but the 3 points is all that matters and guaranteed top four and likely second place finish.

Now for the FA Cup to focus on, and hope Liverpool flame out the CL and drop out the top 4 :)

The younglings gave you guys a game :D.

Don’t really think any Arsenal fan care about that loss to be honest. :wenger:
Nice try being nonchalant. It still hurts. Happy that it does for you.

I think thats why he wants to leave to play regular, which he wont get here. If were bringing in 2 CM like Mourinho says (or maybe 1 if for example Fellaini changes his mind) then he would be even further back in the pick of the first team startes
He can be rotated in. Have him start against the weaker teams. He's just not good enough to be a starter on any top club. However he can be a dangerous option coming off the bench for any team in the world

We are playing to secure second place finish in the league and while that is a very important task, it is hardly something that would get players excited. We still kept it very professional and won the three points that we needed from the game.

What a lousy performance against a depleted Arsenal side.. Think we would have won more convincingly if it was a full strength team. We tend to lower our performance depending on opposition.

Think it was more a case of their youngsters playing with nothing to lose. Like how Rashford destroyed their first choice defence on his debut

More revisionism - while 2012-13 wasn't a vintage United side, we still played some great football. We wouldn't have scored 86 goals otherwise (we're on 67 with two to go this season).

How many of those games we won simply thanks to late winners? Especially the first half of the season we had to come back even against the likes of Reading Fulham Southampton Newcastle. We have now people crying about the wins away at city and against pool and Chelsea saying we didn’t play well for a portion of the game so it’s not a good performance. That was applicable then as well.
