FA W FA Cup 4th Round

Arsenal 1:3 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

We won't get credit until we beat the following:

- The Hurricanes,
- Pep's Barcelona
- The German Army team with the dodgy ref from Escape to Victory
- A 'Mortal Kombat' style round where we have to beat an identical team of ourselves, but with a slightly different coloured kit
- The PNE invicibles team from 1888-89
- A cheat team from Premier Manager (Amiga Game) where all the players have been set to max stats

But Brucy and Ince could probably oversee all those victories by just hanging around the dressing room
:lol::lol:

Those stats tell a different story and the 3rd goal killed them.We defo rode our luck a bit.

I don't agree. Arsenal had 3 chances (including the goal) and didn't look like scoring besides those.

Missed the match unfortunately due to commitments but I'm glad to be disappointed I did given the result.

Fantastic goals and another win for Ole.

Just give him the job at the end of the season - it's his to lose.

I thought the goal we conceded was very poor. Other than that my main complaint is we should have scored 4 or 5 with the number of breaks we had in the second half.

I thought the ref was pretty poor. Pogba was fouled consistently throughout the game. Maybe his size and strength mask it to some extent. But if Saint Pep had just seen Silva kicked about like that he would be crying about how his players need more protection.

Anyway, 3-1 away at Arsenal - OGS has restored the natural order.

Was a weird game. Slow tempo and players on both teams struggled with vision. We were clearly the better team with more aggressive tactics and better player quality. Our individual performances was not better than Arsenal by much though.

Wonderful to experience such matches again, great to see the attitude and joy of the players and the coaching team. It's almost too good to be true, I hope it continues for a long time.

We deserve an easy home draw in the next round.

Though with our luck in draws lately we'll get City away or something

Whi cares bring on whoever, WERE BACK!

I never felt threatened by them apart from last 10 minutes of the 1st half in which they scored. We were better team the rest of it and 2nd half it was only matter of time before the match was sealed.

It's bizarre how we go to the Emirates almost every year with this game plan, and almost every year we get a good result.

How have they not worked it out yet?

He is not a happy go lucky manager as people suggest. He is also a good tactician. Ole ole ole ole!

Reminded me of one those wins we used to have around 07-12 against Arsenal where we just kept thrashing them.

Must say I lost some confidence in the result after seeing our team, but I'm very glad to be wrong. A game very reminiscent of how we played Arsenal years ago. Soaking up pressure and possession, and then hitting them on the counter. Shades of Rooney, Ronaldo and Park in some of those moves! Game was a bit weird as at times it was played at the tempo of a testimonial. After got our goals that suited us, but I was surprised at Arsenal's lack of intensity. All-in-all, great result and happy to be in the next round with another big team out.

yes, same here.

Great game. Cracking cup tie. We're the United of yore again, and long may it last! Special mention for the away end. I know our fans are always great on the road, but tonight was special. I love this club...

 The greatest ever console

Aside from the win and three classic United goals, what I really loved was Ole's attitude in putting on Anthony and Marcus, two attacking subs, when already winning.
He speaks well of his players, talks genuinely about it being "we" as he's red through and through and he's getting the tactics right....what's not to like?
This can’t be understated. A true statement of ambition and something that would certainly not have happened under the previous management

I really enjoyed that. Very impressive from Ole. We made plenty of mistakes but the game plan was clear. I never felt we were under pressure in the 2nd half and we always looked dangerous. Thought Bailly and Lindelof looked solid. Pogba much more effective 2nd half. Even the bit of aggro at the end felt right. Great to be back in love with football.

Even Ole said it that they watched videos of Ronnie's CL goal in the build up. That was nearly 10 years ago and the same plan still works

The whole mood around the club has changed and I love it.

Great game to watch enjoyed it. Our counter attack tore them apart time and again and with a better final ball we could have scored a couple more goals.
Defensively i thought we were strong, Arsenal were always going to come at us and have a lot of the ball, especially at 1-2 but we Looked more composed than most games this season. A very fergie away day type perfomance.
Loving OLE.

Brilliant score and 3 good goals. Arsenal being the home side played the prettier football, but our counter attacking was superb. Well done Ole and the lads. Lets get City away next and knock them out! Only joking lets meet them in the final. What a match that would be!

Just our typical Emirates game here.

Went on, played on counters, fecked Arsenal up with them and returned with the one.

10 years of going to Arsenal and winning on counters. 10 years or more of Arsenal failing to defend our counters.

That about sums it up.

Aside from the atrocious spell after we went 2-0 up I thought that was pretty good. Looked like Arsenal playing against someone better than them.

Compare that to when we played them at Old Trafford about 6 weeks ago and it looked like Arsenal playing away to a mid table team.

Some of our defending is just plain inexplicable.

Argh! I love watching us again. Ole also has some selection headaches now for the next few games. Basically an Amazing problem to have given our previous woes. Let’s back him in the transfer market in the summer and ship out the deadwood. He knows what Manchester Uniteds football is all about. He’ll know what youth to promote. If we hire another big name manager we will be starting from scratch again and that would be a cardinal sin this time around. Lads we are actually back! We have some cracking players and they all look happy to play for us again. Yessss!!!

fecking hate games against the dippers or shitty just cause I never enjoy them given the rivalry. But THAT was the type of arsenal game I love. Ole is the man, brought us back to our roots and made us UNITED again. I'm proud of this team and it's not even as good as it could be. Give him 4 years and see what we become. Were back lads. Watch the feck out Europe

There is something different going on here. Almost like Carrick and McKenna have stumbled upon this formula where you expose the attacking fullback, by not tracking back with them, so when you win the ball back, you have half the pitch to yourself! We had Arsenal on toast tonight, and it looked easy. But that was clearly a tactic that they planned. I love everything that is happening right now.

That was a top performance , apart of the last 5 minutes in first half , we were really in control , we defended the space really well and hit them hard in counter.

It WAS Arsenal playing against someone better than them.

Defence looked a lot more solid tonight, thought Shaw had one of his best games for United, Lindelöf and Bailly looked good together, Young did ok considering they were overloading our right hand side, Jones coming on just tightened that up quite a bit. Lukaku actually looked good coming in from the right, Sanchez once again, for me, didn't do a lot, but took his goal brilliantly, Lingard was just Lingard, looks great at certain times, poor at other times, but again (bit of Ole coaching perhaps) tucked his goal away brilliantly, may have blasted it once, but looked cool in finishing this one. Would still like to see us a bit more stable in midfield, 4-4-2 possible, with Fred in for Lingard, and Pogba further forward, but what do I know! Pogba not tracking back sometimes, but he is fantastic going forward, we got caught a couple of times just switching off. It's hard to think that this is exactly the squad that Jose had. Unbelievable.

That was pretty much my view. Also, I didn't think that Pogba was anywhere near MOTM. Herrera again an unsung hero; and we are very fortunate to have two top-notch goalkeepers.

Read from Arsemania that the fans there thought they were unlucky not to have won this game. They are kidding themselves.

I thought we actually played much better than Arsenal. They had only 2 clear chance at goal. One which they scored and one which Romero tipped over at the beginning of the 2nd half. Our defence dealt with most of the attack comfortably and we had better scoring chances and could have scored more than 3. It was an even more comfortable game than the Brighton one.

8 out of 8. Next game please.
