You can't have a go at him for the subs but it's his fault we were not there in the 1st half. Chelsea were there for the taking but we only caused problems in the 2nd half.
How the feck is it his fault that the players went missing when defending set pieces?

so you agree with original poster than if mourinho signs a defender and he isnt good enough mourinho has to persist with that player and cant buy another even if we can afford it?
Which defenders Pep bought aren't good enough? The seem to all be better than Linelof and Bailly.

To answer your question, it's not only about being able to afford it. Age and the board's confidence in the manager matter.

So many drama queens on here loosing perspective rapidly.

Fact: The team is going through a difficult patch and are trying to find their form.

Fact: We would have taken a draw at the beginning of the game against a title contending side (given the current situation).

Fact: We played a pretty phenomenal 2nd half, one of the best I've seen under Mourinho.

Fact: The players obviously believe in Mourinho.

Fact: Mourinho is fired up.

Decent result, good performance. Nothing else matters.

Onwards and upwards to the next game.

How many of posters will write this? Subs were excellent. Chelsea didn't create anything. But Jose expects that his defenders can clear hoof balls. But they can't. Because they are shit. And again they cost us points. I am sick of this.
With two world class defenders we would be twice better than we are now.
But how can we trust Jose's judgement on transfers. Jose bought Lukaku, Alexis, Lindelof, Baily, Mikhi. All absolute shit. May be too early to say anything about Fred. His only success would be Pogba and Matic. Ibra not relevant.
Jose also uses Herrera and MC Tominay as defenders. How is Woodward supposed to give money to a man who has wasted £100s of millions. Would you trust jose with the club's money if you were Woodward.

I've noticed, when we do actually attack, a huge improvement how we move it down the flanks. We actually look more dangerous especially when we keep it on the ground, plenty of movement, quick one-twos and clever through balls.

Whenever we do break we very rarely try playing it through the middle, it's a bit lopsided at the moment as we're noticeably going through Shaw/Martial more than Young/Rashford.

....and Solskjaer has won it!
I don't get why we make substitutions just to waste time. There was a tactical rationale for bringing on a more defensive minded midfielder with 15-20 minutes to go, but why take another two off at the death leaving those coming on and habing to settle in to a frantic end of match situation?

Didn’t create anything? I know stats are pointless but out of those 21 (Yup 21 shots!) We had Morata closes to 1-1, Luiz missing inches from FK, De Gea saving smartly from Kante and few decent chances. Admittedly Man Utd looked dangerous on counter and shaded the match but to say Chelsea created nothing is not accurate at all. And yup we did create two goals. Man Utd din score those for us.

We didn't create any danger. Just allowed Chelsea the freedom of the pitch and watched them play.
We barely tested their defence until the 2nd half. Why? Because again the players have nothing to lose. Same as two weeks ago.
The set pieces problem has been there for a long time. We need to come with a better plan to deal with crosses and set pieces.

I'm a big Smalling critic but he was amazing today
He's been good all season, I've been critical of him in the past but he's undeniably our best CB at the mo'.

I agree with a lot of what you have said. But we can't say it is a difficult patch when it has been like this since Alexis arrival in February. This is how Jose wants us to play which includes how we played in first half and how we dropped off at the end. The good bit in the middle is a throw the kitchen sink attempt when we don't have much to lose, which we are actually decent at.

Or maybe it's because it's an away game in one of the toughest stadium to play at after a 2 weeks international break.

Get a fecking grip, the plan was always to contain Chelsea in the first half and start asserting ourselves as the game went on, and it worked well bar the 30 seconds of feckups in the entire game.

How on Earth are people advocating Mourinho after this game? I mean, it's abundantly clear that only when we move away from Jose's tactics, that we start to play well. Today's draw was due to the individual excellence of Martial, Mata rather than Jose.

Can anyone remember how we were going to get thrashed? Fantastic second half. Overall still a good result.
Agreed. We showed good fight in a difficult away fixture against a very good side. Unfortunate not to get all the points, but the level of effort was noticeably better than in past fixtures.

The corner goal was due to one player losing his man. There's nothing tactical or any other mistake by any other player. Pogba just fecked it up. We dealt well with the rest of them during the match.

Only Bailly and Lindelof are flops. Ed can sell them and replace them with other defenders.

Sometimes you have to recognize we aren't playing against amateurs. We were playing against a very good opponent. Do you reckon people ought to have a go at Sarri because he allowed an 8th place team to dominate his side in the 2nd half at home? When the opposing side has top class players you gotta show them respect, our game plan was pretty good which was undone by set pieces and long balls into the box, our unfortunate Achilles heels.

I think we still have a problem defending crosses in general. Remember City last season Kompany goal? OT we messed up twice vs City. Again vs West Brom. It's not the first time. Even if Pogba messed up this time someone else will mess up next time.

Similarly why give him credit for the draw, largely the result of the form of a player (Martial) he badly wants to get rid of.

Ed can buy his dream signing Varane for 100mil like he said he'd ready to do so.

Anyone but Rashford
Honestly the 1-0 loss would have been so less painful. I genuinely didn't give a shit when we conceded the first, actually laughed.

But we came back well - slowly worked our way into it and when we equalised looked like the only side who would win. We're a fecking abomination when it comes to set pieces. Chelsea offered nothing else and we neutralised them from opening play from the first whistle.

Spurs, Brighton and this game were all decided by set pieces. Smalling and Fellaini are the only two in the squad who can attack a fecking ball and De Gea is as timid as a virgin in a whore house. It's pathetic. We needed to get those CB's but lol Woodward.

Most of these are individual errors. Smalling losing Kompany and Lukaku fecking it up and passing it to a rival. You can't fault anyone else around them as they were all guarding their man.

Scoring from a set piece will always be due to a mistake or error from someone leaving his man free.
