Absolutely gutted. We played really well till the last 15 minutes and should have won by 2 goals atleast. Really poor performance in the last 15-20 minutes. All our attackers bar Lukaku showed no composure. Rashford had a mare.

And I really cant understand why we put no pressure on Leicester players and let them just ping crosses into the box.

This one’s all on the players.

We were up 2-1, against 10 men.
We should've been cruising.
Once they went down to 10 men, we shat our pants and they attacked us hard. They had passion. They had power, pace.
Vardy - 1 chance, 1 goal.
Our attackers - multiple chances and no goals (except Mata).
Shat our pants? Attacked us hard? They didn’t create anything, they had that one chance. It crap, but it happens. We were good today, we missed gigantic chances. It’s down to Martial and especially Lingard, who missed insane ones.

A good point however, is that because of our lack of possession, Leicester weren’t tired enough and had energy. Had we kept the ball more, they would have to run much more and wouldn’t sustain the pressured attacks. Victim of our own style and missed chances.

Absolutely right.
Blame the players all he likes but it's up to him to manage them. When was the last time you saw a Guardiola, Pochinetto etc team shit themselves at 1 up with an extra man?

It's obvious we don't practice retaining possession. Keeping the ball when you have an extra man. Just hoofing it at a big man up top and playing for the scraps.

That is an absolute disgrace. And it's his to own.

We have 12 points more than we did at this stage a year ago. Doesn't mean the result/performance wasn't infuriating tonight, but there you go.
The thing is we should have had 10 more points than we did last season but Jose has made us so fearful and negative this stuff jist happens. The horrible feeling is we handed the title to city before Christmas.

I have to admit I did feel uneasy when they went a man down. It's been a long time since we've played against 10 men.... I haven't got a clue why.

Rushford to be dropped!!!! That's one of the worst play ever by a United player not to put a teammate through on goal. Just Wow!

Are you watching closely?
Only have ourselves to blame.

Not blaming Mourinho for this. We were attacking, we played a lot of nice stuff and with much better tempo and movement than in recent games (even if we were sloppy too), we created more than enough to win the game, but we kept wasting chances, and took the win for granted, and Leicester scored the most predictable goal of the year.

If the league wasn't gone before, it definitely is now.

They're down to 10 men, so where's the logic in taking Lingard off and Herrera on?
This as well, just keep attacking. Players messed up, but if we just kept attacking after getting the second, and not forgetting how to passa ball, that would be good.

Your player has the ball with 2 mins to go in injury time and he decides to give the ball away cheaply instead of taking it to the corner. How is that on Jose? Your midfielder is told to go and play on the right and he refuses. How is that on Jose?

The players bottled it?

We played well, and this could easily have been 4/5-1. However it wasn't to be, and thanks to our comical finishing, we bottled it superbly. Smalling should have not been near the penalty box at the end.

Rashford was abysmal with his decision making. Lingard and Martial missing absolute sitters. Feel for Lukaku today. Worked his ass off and had nothing to show for it, thanks to his idiotic teammates.

Any faint hope of a title win is well and truly over. But heavily in the winter window and let the new players settle in for the next season. feck Barca, City and football in general. Good night.

We were actually pretty good today. Started the game well. Unfortunately, Leicester scored out of nowhere.

We've been pretty clinical this season, where we've been able to kill teams off in the last 10 minutes, but today not being able to kill the game cost us. Martial, Mkhi, Lingard and Rashford had great chances to score but didn't.

What I don't get, though, is why we dropped so deep. Bringing off Lingard for Herrera suggested Jose was happy to settle for the 2-1 and get a goal on the counter if we could.

I guess on another day it would have worked. Having three in midfield really should have meant we should have been able to control possession and see the game out. That wasn't the case.

Too many poor decisions, missed chances and sloppy mistakes meant we gave Leicester a bit of confidence, despite having 10 men, and allowed them to score the equaliser.

Need another 500m to even compete with City, or need new manager. Hard choice.
New manager, tactics, subs, style of play, manager. I am so tired of the cr@p Mourinho is shoveling, we have no identity rxcrpt parking the bus and hoofing the ball to the opposition. Time for a new manager

Leicester played with more heart and they were down to 10. Just goes to show you that there's something wrong with the mentality of this squad. A Fergie team would have never surrendered a lead so meekly.
Lets be fair i seen it plenty under fergie the 4-4 at everton springs to mind.. but i agree it sucks.

Some ridiculous overreactions in this thread.

Should have won this easily, players miss chances but why did we sit back and invite pressure again?
Players should have made it safe but should have kept hold of the ball.

Bad first goal to give away and Smalling should have gone off or at least taken out the middle at the end.
Rashford has been off form for a while and seems to have lost all confidence.

Mata and Lukaku best players.

We played quite well until they went down to 10 men.
DDG had almost nothing to do.
The level of perspective at RedCafe has been absolutely awful. We were good today and were extremely unlucky to have dropped points here, a few bad coincidences including Smalling's late injury cost us the game. We should have won but the moaners are out in force trying to convince themselves that we are shit.

We need some real leadership in that dressing room to be honest. Jose has to get the right players in with kick ass mentalities.

A little off topic but does anyone know when Carrick's back? Could have used him today to calm things down. Ironically he could have covered for Smalling as well...:(

I don't think it's fair to blame Mourinho on this one, and I'm far from a fan of his. The opportunities were there. It's up to Rashford, Lingard, and Martial to finish those chances. Rashford in particular was poor today and looks really devoid of confidence. A couple of games with the reserves would do him some good to get back in a rhythm.

Rashford, Lingard and Martial were the attacking equivalent of Liverpool's defense in this game. Liabilities.
Martial missed a big chance but was a threat all night , the other two .......,.
The reality is that lingard is nowhere near good enough while rashford is probably just a more overated wellbeck .2nd or 3rd will be an achievement with this squad

Yes. This is on the manager.

Yes , there was a sense that they didn't know quite what to do. It was a bit like last year though. Not taking chances and then letting it slip late on. Where's the clinical finish? Ole Gunnar Solskaer would have had a hat trick.

Some of the comments about Lukaku letting us down tonight...
Joke. Apart from Mata he was our best player tonight. Superb hold up play, great passing - could have easily had 3 assists tonight if it wasn't for the awful finishing.

People just jumping on the bandwagon of hate.

Although the headlines might well say 10 man Leicester rescue point at home to MU in reality it was 10 v 10. Smalling was gone and should not have been designated to be defending. The ball from Albrighton should have been stopped at source. Failing that Maguire should have been better picked up. He was the obvious target.
Huge work ahead for Mourinho. City are streets ahead of every one in the league. Not enough control in midfield once Utd had the lead. Lack of clinical finish up front. Utd should have seen that game out 4:1. Leicester threw the kitchen sink at Utd once they went behind and were there to be carved open. Someone on the pitch should be able to identify obvious dangers to the Utd goal and take appropriate action. Players are obscenely rewarded and its time they took responsibility for what happens on the pitch.
A good team rarely surrenders a lead especially to a team as limited as Leicester no matter home or away.
