Soft penalty, but I think the optics of Azpilicueta not looking anywhere near the ball made it look bad.

It looked clearly that Saka was locking onto Cesar's arm and then going down, not a pen on second viewing.

Some poster on here told me last week that Saka wasn’t as good as our wingers :wenger:

Arsenal will sweep us aside on Saturday and our humiliation will be complete for this season. We might as well botch our remaining games after that to avoid Thursday nights.

I agree, problem is Wolves just aren't capable of taking 7th.

He really is, Saka was going nowhere, he initiated the contact then Saka held his arm
It's so annoying when referees can't see this even in replay, it just encourages players to continue diving and cheating.

At least we're keeping it possible a bit longer but that NLD is going to be hell. Still see Spurs 70/30 doing it above us.

You really wonder what the point is with VAR.

We have been through this before. As long as they don't need to explain anything this will go on. No transparency.

Surely Eddie Howe is nailed on for Manager of the Year?

He's taken a side that had 7 points after 14 games and turned them into a side with 40 points after 33 games. That's 0.5 points per game to 1.7 points per game

1.7 points per game is 65 points per season which would get you pretty close to top 4 most seasons.

This may be dismissed as Gooner bias, but Azpi initiates the contact, end up with his arms around Saka and isn’t even looking at the ball. How is that not a foul?

It wouldn't be that much of a surprise to see them finish above us next season.

Incredible but it will surely go to either Klopp or Pep, whoever wins amongst the two. Howe deserves it though.

Doesn't matter if he's initiating contact. Saka is literally pulling him. It should have been a Chelsea foul.

And he's done it with only an 80 Mn January transfer window budget!

What a win for Arsenal. It's between them and Spurs for fourth. Chelsea will still end up third.

Told you guys it was premature to write Arsenal off. For some reason people had decided it was already Spurs' 4th spot. It'll go down to the wire between them. But that was a huge result for Arsenal.

Why not? Made no attempt to play the ball. He wasn't even looking at the ball and wrestled the arsenal player to the floor
I would say Azpilicueta initiated the contact, but Saka brought himself down and held on to Azpilicueta's arm to make it look like he was bundled over. And there wasn't enough in the initial 'challenge' for a pen, in my opinion.
