Qatar WC | Fans and Atmosphere Watch

 I wonder if this guy had any problems getting in to the stadium

That's the second video I've watched now where fans doing live TV interviews end up with creepy looking guys listening into what they are saying.

It's coming home.

The translation from someone on Reddit was:

God, oh my god

This will be history this will be history this will be history

Not the Saudis not the Saudis not the Saudis

The impossible the impossible the impossible

I am screaming from the depths of my heart

This cannot be this cannot be this cannot be. What is happening what is happening

There are no words there are no words there are no words

Big turnout from Tunisia

Definitely the most accessible World Cup ever for the Maghreb teams - although I expect some of these live in the Gulf

Imagine a saudi fan dressing up as al-qaida in the next world cup in usa. He'd be disappeared in a jiffy.
Not really comparable. Why go to Al-qaeda when the muslims had plenty of religious wars of conquest similar to the crusades?

Looks like we were hasty in judging the crowd after Netherlands Game... Turning out that maybe the Dutch simply didn't travel as much for group stage as the rest of the Countries... Crowds for a far location and group stage seem to be very solid (outside of Dutch game)

I have to say atmosphere wise it has been a very good day thus far.

If only the Mexican strikers were half as good as their fanbase. Proper WC crowd that one

Sounds racist but every world cup its the same no?

The english wear crusade outfits
The danish/swedish wear viking outfits
Mexicans wear ponchos and sombreros
French wear a rooster hat (Le Coq Sportif)
Italy (:() wear Roman general outfits

etc. etc.

I think probably the swords were the problem, not the outfit itself.

Seems completely ordinary to me. When has there ever not been a crowd roar when a team scores, misses a penalty, etc.? It isn't "wild," it's literally everyday fare. Did people expect the Mexican fans to sit there in stoic silence? Let's not bend over for the Qatari and praise this WC as something special until something special actually happens. Fans cheering at game-changing moments happens in every game of football.

I swear, it's like a portion of the football community is going out of their way to wilfully buy into the sportswashing and fabricate reasons why this WC is amazing. So far, it has been nothing out of the ordinary at all, and the opening game was probably the worst in the history of the competition. Why lie to flatter Qatar, given the circumstances of this tournament?

I bet they didnt see that coming.

Also is it true there will be a discipline action against Ecuador by Fifa cause their fans were yelling we want beer?
Read it somewhere.

I thought it was for racist abuse. Ironic that they are homophobic but won't tolerate racism :D

Well it's pretty wild compared to empty seats, ehm I mean ghosts that count as 2.

How so? In terms of travel that is not necessarily the case. At least measured in flight times, Rome, Paris, Madrid and even Berlin are closer to Algier or Tunis than Doha.

Flight time is one factor but more important for accessibility is visas

Europeans who are free to travel most of the planet often don't realise how difficult it is for someone with an Africa passport to get a visa to travel to Europe

Although as mentioned, I think a large % of North Africans out in Qatar will live in the region

Mexico - Argentina match will be mental.

Yeah, I might have to pick up a ticket for that one!

But the middle-eastern teams' fans have brought a lot of amazing energy to the tournament too, to be fair. I've been surprised at how passionate the Saudi fans are, as I didn't have much of an idea about their football culture before this.

There's a few language schools by me (south coast of England) and the Saudi students were literally dancing in the streets yesterday!
