Ravel Morrison | Derby player

I just spoke to someone from The Jamaican delegation and as I suggested Ravel does have mental health issues. In fact, the official stated the condition and it is the same disorder that I suffer from. He said they have had to be patient with him and supportive. He also stated that the medications that he has to take are stimulants and may result in adverse analytical findings if he takes them while playing (He opted not to to continue his career) which has resulted in his struggles. The individual did not have to tell me. For years people called me lackadaisical and disinterested in school. I now have 2 Masters Degrees but I am a lot older than Ravel and I am more concerned with what will happen once football stops because football is a great outlet when dealing with mental health issues.

@oates

Ravel Morrison was diagnosed with ADHD in his teens and was not on his meds during his time in Manchester United. This same condition has been a massive hindrance in his entire career. This is public knowledge and no one has told you anything else.

That you make up this story and pretend that you know something about someone elses background and use yourself as a truth witness makes me absolutely livid.

Why is this a massive hindrance in his career? You can get Theraputic Use Exemptions for the medications used to treat it. Simone Biles is an athlete with the condition and uses drugs to control it. There are Premier League players with these exemptions according to reports from last year.

Treatment is not a one-size fits all undertaking. If it was as simple as "take a pill and all will be well", all would be just fine.

I won't spend too much of my workday dwelling into it, but a summary is that long-term childhood ADHD see a link between criminal and risky behavior, coupled with <nature> (ie. social circle or family relations).

Ravel is a teenager who had the door open to everything, and threw it away by enganging in unsocial and risky behavior that does not properly reach the level of the opportunity he was risking. At the time I just thought he was a little asshole, but learning later that he sufferes from one of the most common mental disorders we know of, that puts everything into context.

Cheers.

On a topic related note: Very happy to see Ravel score such a good goal. I hope that he has a successful period at Derby.

He certainly has the ability to be a good player. Hopefully he gets his life sorted out. If he is selected to play regularly he may get it right.

anyone else confused by this post?

Are you trying to suggest that people are being played in the Jamaican team purely to put them in the shop window?
I am not suggesting...I am telling you. Jamaicans from the diaspora...Canada, The UK and The United States are using every social media platform possible to "out" the curropt individuals and to shine a light on what is happening. Our most successful manager John Barnes, who never lost a game as manager, quit unceremoniously years ago.

They tried to force him to pick players that they could sell. He refused to do so and came back to England. We are now trying to push for his rehire ahead of World Cup qualification.

Didn't Barnes leave to join Tranmere as he wanted to go back into club management? Pretty sure he tried to join another club before hand too?

Not true. He wasn't offered a contract renewal because of his stance. He did an interview in 2019 with Orville Higgins where he outlined the issues. If your contract is coming up and they are saying unless we pick the team for you then you will not be offered a renewal...knowing John's personality and values and the family he comes from they knew he wouldn't agree to it. Hence, he started looking for employment elsewhere. That was the smokescreen they needed to make it appear as if he wanted to leave.

Did someone from the Jamaican Delegation tell you that?!?
Because every interview he done in England suggested he just wanted club management, I mean, why not just say out loud that the ptb in Jamaican football wanted to pick the team, what is he to lose?

Why are you so stubborn? The man that hired him was Captain Horace Burrell former head of The JFF who worked with his father Colonel Ken Barnes as a part of The Jamaica Defense Force. While Captain Burrell was alive he was respectful and didn't tell the full story.

The full interview that he gave to Orville Higgins, one of Jamaica's preeminent sports journalists, told a very different tale. These claims were already being spouted about by other journalists close to Barnes and his family in The Jamaican media from about a decade before. They hinted at the truth while not explicitly stating what occurred behind the scenes. One of which was a veteran broadcaster at KLAS FM 89.

Now we just need a UK bank account to deposit the funds from his will.

He is class above the other players but doesn't seem to be that match fit. If he gets some quality players around him Rooney can get him to play a lot better. The opposition know that he could do something out of the ordinary so keep him marked.

He seems massively out of his depth.

Not quick enough on the ball, not decisive enough, lacks work rate.

Poor poor game tonight,

Also guilty of a petulant foul on Chong because he was being shown up and outclassed by an U23 player.
Indeed.

Lost the ball to Chong and then preceded to commit a lazy foul. Poor effort all round.

Derby supporters have felt otherwise in his previous games.

He did have to fly across the Atlantic three days ago, mind.

I do not think he has played in so many consecutive number of games for a very long time. It is going to take a while to get him going too. Did he play for Jamaica?

Yeah that's true.
Although he has had a few days rest previous to that though!

With the Rooney thread getting bumped quite a lot I wondered how he's doing.

Not really establishing himself as a key contributor if this is anything to by:

2 assists in the league, 1 goal in the league cup on debut, often on the bench. Started in the FA Cup defeat to Coventry last weekend apparently which isn't listed there when they rotated but was a back as a sub yesterday and unused.

He's been average at best.

Rooneys Derby are a team that put everything out there on the pitch, Ravel isn't that type of player, he doesn't work as hard as some of the others.
Although he should get more opportunities post Jan transfer window as Derby will be losing a few more players.

I saw a ratings thread on the Derby forum, over the course of the season he’s rated 3rd lowest but managed to pick up one MOTM

Most likely wasted too much of his career but to be fair I've not read about him doing anything negative of the purchase this season and send to have settled down

His problems with Derby are not down to his lack of quality, it's because he needs to play in much better team than Derby.

Sent off today.

And Derby fans were happy about it because they don't have to see him play for the next three games.

Says it all about Ravel.

And to think some on here we're asking for United to give him a chance

Must be the Jamaican FAs fault.

Scored his first goal in English league football since 2014 (and his first in any league football since he knocked in three in the Mexican league four years ago) against Barnsley in a relegation 6-pointer... and scored his second 20 minutes later.

On a hat-trick now. :D

Let's bring him back to replace Ronaldo. He just needs manager like Rangnick and he'll back to his best from 12 years ago.
