Pretty average tournament overall. Good semi between Ding and Selby, but the match ups in general weren't anything special.
Yeah, I agree with this.

As a game, it still creates some great tension / drama though, I vowed not to watch when Ronnie went out, then Ding, but I still got drawn in to watch 2 (fairly) boring players.

It does seem in dire need of some 'characters' or showman, Ronnie is probably the last one standing, and even he is a bit more methodical now. There doesn't seem to be any real rivalries at the moment, and as a sport it is still relies on names that have been around for years. Is there a new maverick player waiting in the wings?

On a side note, what has happened to Robertson? A few years ago he looked unbeatable, and I expected him to be a multiple world champion, surely the video games couldn't have effected him that much!

Also the BeeB coverage (or lack of it) was on the whole, shite.

Well done he’s 13
Trump should still win a world title with his talent. Being branded the next Ronnie and the whole 'naughty snooker' is probably the worst thing that could have happened to him. Trying to hard to play up to a character when he needs to focus on his overall game otherwise he doesn't stand a chance at stopping Selby

Some exhibition match, as no official tournaments are on until tomorrow early morning when the first *proper* (for me at least) tournament begins, International Championship.

It's amazing how shite some of the top players are going into the pack to split reds, they get it wrong way more often than not. Ronnie makes it look easy as do a couple others, but the majority of them struggle. Find it really weird.

Ronnie found most things tough against Yan Bingtao the other day! Getting interesting in the International Championship in China, quarter final day today:

Selby 4-2 R Williams
Carter 2-2 Gould
Trump v Allen
Bingtao v Higgins

All matches first to 6.

Pick a winner from that lot!

Selby.

Gould and Carter could go either way here, century in the last frame for Gould to make it 3-3... Gould is playing well, especially considering he keeps getting static shocks from the table. Carter looks off his game at the moment, lapses in concentration.

Yeah, carter is a feckin idiot, easy safety, goes for a long pot instead and misses it by a mile. Jesus. Game over, Gould to win this 6-3.

The Trump v Allen game should be a cracker, shame I'm stuck at work. They won't shy away from any pots. Surprised Allen has got this far as he usually has a good whinge about the conditions in China and mentally plays himself out of contention although he has won 3 ranking tournaments over there. Selby probably the best shout, a final between him and Higgins might not appeal to many modern snooker fans who want to see Ronnie/ Trump snooker but for the purist it would be great quality.

Called it. Carter gave up basically, absolute shite. I've played better snooker after 10 pints.

Credit to Gould though, on fire when he got a chance he took it.

Bingtao will destroy another world champion. 3-0 over Higgins now. Good grief.
Would be really exciting to see a top young talent start to challenge the established names. Snooker's in need of a new top player or two.

Allen vs Trump here still massively close.

Yan Bingtao has some remarkable talent for such a young player. He is going to achieve serious things in the game. Wouldn't surprise me if he becomes Asia's first World Champion. Will Ding fall over the line and do it first? It's becoming ever more doubtful.

Well I said the Trump v Allen match should be a cracker and Allen has edged through 6-5 :). Looking forward to the semi-finals tomorrow. Selby vs. Bingtao in the final would be brilliant, arguably the best player of this generation against arguably the best player of the next generation.

Selby through 7-1 against Gould, to play the winner of Allen v Bingtao in the Final. Should be an exciting 24 hours now.

Edit: It's first to 9, totally knew that :)

6-0 against Higgins. He whimpers out of tournaments in the early rounds, usually in far East Asia, but then brings his A game in meaningful competition. So would I to be fair.

Ronnie v Brecel should be a good final if it happens.

Good win for Murphy last night, 10-8 over Ronnie in the Final. The Rocket couldn't string enough decent frames together, he's not the long match player he once was but he's still played well over the course of the week.

Straight in to the Shanghai Masters today! Good tournament but hate the time difference as it means I miss most of it.

Mark Allen has already beaten Yan Bingtao 5-1 in the first round. Woollaston, Gilbert and Mark Williams also through. Ronnie plays Gary Wilson in a repeat of their first round meeting at the Crucible.

Always happy to see that fatso Higgins lose.

That look on his face when Ronnie doubled the black to go 5-2 up....Priceless
Ronnie has smashed him twice inside a week now and they've both been fair results. If he hadn't been so inconsistent in the CoC Final against Murphy, he could be going for back to back ranking titles now.

Wow Ronnie is being such a twat in his post match interview talking about the refs like that.

Edit: just about redeemed himself saying if he won the million he'd use some of it to help the homeless or some good cause.

He was my idol for years and years and I excused his behaviour because I thought he was a bit of a tortured genius. Truth is that he’s turning into a bitter old man.

Nah he's still our man. Geniuses in sport don't come round often as long as they're not 70s TV stars or Hollywood actors.

Twat of the day would be Trump for the way he conceded. Imagine he'll be in a lot of trouble for that.
