We’ll have to disagree.

I thought Wilshere had potential to be one of the best.
Yeah I agree with you.

There hasn't been a performance like that by an English midfielder since so it's not like it wasn't worthy of praise.

These things happen once every 10/15 years in English football so it's going to get hyped at the time.

Jack Rodwell was another Everton starlet that moved too soon.

Shame they didn’t all stay and turn the toffees into a team capable of beating Liverpool more than once a decade.
For some reason I remember it as Everton looking to cash in and it wasn't entirely Rodwell's choice to move to City.

I wanted to see him at United.

My main issue with Wilshere, even during his peak spell, was his habit of initiating a dribble when a pass through the lines was higher percentage and more effective. Modric knows when to dribble. Wilshere would self-indulgently dribble into areas that would result in loss of possession.

He was never that good. To be absolutely honest, he was just another over hyped english player. Him, delle ali, theo walcott and even jack wilshere had normal levels of talent that were blown up to be generational and yet if they were french or Brazilian, nobody would talk about them. English players are always grossly overhyped. Only Rooney was worth the hype and he was that good
Jack Wilshere was extremely gifted. Crazy to describe him as an average/run of the mill talent. You only have to watch him play on the ball for thirty seconds to realise that.

Barkley is probably perfectly happy with how it's all gone, trousering 50k a week for year after year.

I had forgotten he existed, but now that I'm reminded of him I'm amazed we weren't linked to him during that Arnautovic / Pulisic phase.

I remember cursing at Moyes that he went for Fellaini over Barkley during 2013/14, and boy how things change.

Him and Dele Alli are for sure starters in the What Could Have Been FC XI.

Barkley was legitimately good at Everton, but only really as a 10. Think he had already had some issues prior to joining Chelsea? Injuries or psychological I can't remember.

Good riddance. I hope that's the last scouser we see wearing Chelsea blue.

There was a particular problem with Wilshere though; a fatal flaw. Wasn’t it Giggs who did a whole breakdown of the shape of his lower legs, feet and ankles, and the way he ran, that ultimately ensured he would have issues? This after only like the second injury spell, and Giggs was on point. That is exactly how things played out.

Ross had a lot of physical talents, but it never developed into more. just very average and also prone to injury.

How does Giggs find the time to be a professional footballer, an anatomical specialist, a sex pest and an alleged woman beater?

Back to Everton?
West ham and moses?
Or forrest like so many others this summer?

Strange to think he's only 28 and should be in his prime
Players like him are not in their prime with 28. his prime was a couple of years ago. He is past it already.

I thought he was a good punt for Chelsea for that 18M. Boy I was wrong.

Whenever I mistakenly want to take muppets on the caf seriously I remember they once wanted a midfield combo of Barkley and James McCarthy.

Imagine how those two careers have gone.

He was very talented but had awful judgement. The point made above about Modric is well made. Jack had too much ego and too little brains to ever be a great footballer.

Could be worse. Could be a midfield of mcfred

He's been really good for Luton the last few games. Playing with a lot more maturity, too.
He was always a talent but injuries and that move to Chelsea wasted years for him. Chelsea stockpiling a ton of players for similar roles did little for any of them, see also Ruben Loftus Cheek.
