What? Keane was one of the best young footballers in the early 90s. Attracting interest from abroad - Serie A and La Liga (rumors about Madrid)Roy Keane is employed by Sky Sports to perform as Sky Sports wants him to. It's all a bit pantomime. And it appeals directly to the sky Sports demographic who worshiped such footballers 25 years ago in the 90s. It's all a good watch but nothing more than that.
And remember who Sky have in the studio for these games - an ex self-proclaimed hardman midfielder who had a great career because he was surrounded by a team full of the best players of his era. Then he went on to a managerial career that was a failure and that's why he is sitting in a studio getting all riled up as it looks good for a Youtube video. Actually there's two of them. So that says everything. All Keane talks about is character and all Souness talks about is back in my day. Yawn.
If Keane's management style may be considered or anticipated as being somewhat abrasive then we appear to have tried the 'arm round the shoulder' approach under OGS. Results, however, are not what we may have hoped for.People generally perform better when you focus on what they’re good at, rather than berating them that they’re not good enough.
My spreadsheets at work don’t improve by having my boss standing over me shouting.
Right after saying that he said they weren't good enough for United.Love Keano but he said McTominay is learning his trade. Absolute crap, he’s as bad as Fred but only gets torn to shreds every week.
Give over. They were both great players, not just self confessed hardmen. Management wise they weren't great. But not many are. Yes they are employed by sky to do a job and they do it based off their views and standards.Roy Keane is employed by Sky Sports to perform as Sky Sports wants him to. It's all a bit pantomime. Yeah, Fergie was well known for tolerating average players buried amongst better players, he even made them captain on occasion too.an ex self-proclaimed hardman midfielder who had a great career because he was surrounded by a team full of the best players of his era.
Yeah he was shit wasn't he, hasn't a clue about the game.Roy Keane is employed by Sky Sports to perform as Sky Sports wants him to. It's all a bit pantomime. Tbh funniest shit I have ever read today. Did he forget Keane was the most expensive EPL player at that time (he was Pogba before Pogba) ? He was already monster in Forest. Blackburn would easily won the league in 94 if they signed him instead of us.Interesting take
What a pathetic take on Keane just because you disagree him or don't rate him on Sky , and if you really believe that about Keane's playing career then you either never saw him play of have no clue about the game.an ex self-proclaimed hardman midfielder who had a great career because he was surrounded by a team full of the best players of his era. He's not dim, he just has an extremely stubborn view of football. His attitude is the players are responsible for what happens. That attitude was why he was like a manager on the pitch but that attitude is also why he's a bad manager and pundit. His advice is limited to:He is a a bit dim as an individual and that's me being courteous.
I agree with this bit. Keane is a rent-a-quote. He's entertaining but doesn't understand modern football or management which is why he's on Sky and not at an actual club.Roy Keane is employed by Sky Sports to perform as Sky Sports wants him to. Keane only does bollockings though. His approach is 100% bollockings. Eventually players get tired of being sworn out and want someone with coaching skills which rules out Keane. One bollocking and the cowards would down tools (even more than now) and Keane would be out in a month.
Sky does this alot. They keep trying to get Carragher and Neville to argue on MNF and try to troll Keane into "HEATED DEBATES" to get clicks. It's boring once you notice it.Great player but on Sky Sports to say stuff to be clipped on social media often on the players that are a easy target.
Fred is 28 and has played all of his career in midfield. McTomimay is 24 and played as a forward for most of his youth career.. I think that's what Keane was getting at.Love Keano but he said McTominay is learning his trade. Absolute crap, he’s as bad as Fred but only gets torn to shreds every week.
He turns 25 next month, it's a bit ridiculous to descibe a player as still learning his trade at that age.Fred is 28 and has played all of his career in midfield. McTomimay is 24 and played as a forward for most of his youth career.. I think that's what Keane was getting at.
Fred played further forward for Shaktar. Never seems to be mentioned, but he was closer to Bruno than Matic when we purchased him. So neither are playing in positions which they are used to playing in. But McTominay is incapable of even showing for the ball properly which is absolutely basic stuff. So he should get much more stick than Fred.Fred is 28 and has played all of his career in midfield. McTomimay is 24 and played as a forward for most of his youth career.. I think that's what Keane was getting at.
Agreed. More ridiculous is a 'major' European club deciding to trust a central midfield place to a player only learning how to play there...at 25.He turns 25 next month, it's a bit ridiculous to descibe a player as still learning his trade at that age.
Agreed. These united old boys pundits wouldn't have the patience to let him learn his trade at this age if he was a foreign player brought in from abroad, it's british academy player bias.Agreed. More ridiculous is a 'major' European club deciding to trust a central midfield place to a player only learning how to play there...at 25.
He's welcome to go out on loan somewhere to learn how to play in midfield. Given how much our squad cost and our aspirations (ha) it's an absolute joke that we're trying to get him to do it at United.

Can I just say vardy was at fleetwood town at 24/5 learning his trade, I’m not saying Scotty could become a midfield version of vardy, I’m just saying you can always learn your trade and improve at any age.He turns 25 next month, it's a bit ridiculous to descibe a player as still learning his trade at that age.
They've had plenty of kicks up the arse the last few weeks. They need a decent system and teammates they can trust. These players could do with a kick up the backside for the crap they are producing every week.
I think having a manager with a tactical plan and, most importantly, the communication skills to deliver his tactical plan to the players is the most important thing. If Keane's management style may be considered or anticipated as being somewhat abrasive then we appear to have tried the 'arm round the shoulder' approach under OGS. Results, however, are not what we may have hoped for.
On which basis, what good things about the recent performances of the likes of Maguire, Shaw, Pogba, etc do you feel any current or future manager might focus on? With a view to motivate and inspire so that performances improve and we start winning football matches again?
Keane saying he has ''more hope than belief in Ole'' was as close as he'll go to saying Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be sacked.I hate the cronyism around the club as much as anyone but to be fair this is the most critical I've seen Keane of the team. He will never call out his mate but this was pretty close.............
that and him saying "he might be best off out of there" was itKeane saying he ''more hope than belief in Ole'' was as close as he'll go to saying Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be sacked.
I would kill for a 25 year old Keane in our midfield. It is obvious a lot of posters on here have never seen Keano play.....the man was world class FFS!
Looks like it.Is he signing shirts there for some guy who's clearly just going to resell them on eBay? Looks like he's got a bag full of them
no security around him, no mates, just out on his own and still has it in him to give it to a guy who stepped out of line and drops the “what have you had two pints?” Line. Amazing.Tweet

This has to be one of the dumbest things I've read on this forum, which says a lot considering I spend most of my time in the FPL and Crypto threadsAnd remember who Sky have in the studio for these games - an ex self-proclaimed hardman midfielder who had a great career because he was surrounded by a team full of the best players of his era.
