I've read, on a number of occasions and boards, posters bemoan personal regret at not having bought a player before a competitor. Clearly every club must be selective, but when supporters wish Alli, Wanyama, Toby, Davinson Sanchez, Bale had been snagged in time, is frequent. Latterly, wishes have been expressed that Kane should be hired.
While recognising the greater financial muscle, buying' off the peg' , with it's obvious benefit, makes the hindsight posts rather risible.
And so it might be with Sessegnon. A few clubs spend fortunes every year. Only one can win the Champions league. All others are reletive failures. Only one Premier winner. All others fail.
The answer, for the rich is to spend another fortune. In hope, while enviously looking at the young talent, nourished and nurtured, with a team ethic. For a fraction of the wasted millions.
Plus ca change.
