Early second half we were worse. Later second half we were better. Overall I would say we were a bit better in the second half than we were in the first, but that doesn't change the first 10-15 minutes of it being worse.
Nah. Its all straight up made up Bullshit. We were far better in second half. We created more, tackled more, intercepted more, out shot them (they out shot us comfortably first half: 12 - 2, 18-4 in our favour 2nd half), forced more saves out of their keeper (1 first half. 3 2nd half). Had more corners (4-1 Forrest 1st half, 4 nil United 2nd). Hit the post twice. Even Scored. Even our possesion went up by 1%... Its not even close! Even statistics irrefutably show it. The ONLY valid claim anyone can make is we were more vulnerable to the counter thanks to no natural 6 on pitch. But worse? Or "Forrest took over'? You're having laugh.

Even in terms of mere passing the ball. Mainoo touched and passed the ball less times than Scott ACTUALLY did (mind you Scott had 90% pass accuracy  ). Which clearly shows how poor were were in first half in comparison, because Mainoo ALWAYS shows for the ball.

We all know Scott's limitations. But people don't have to make shit up about him, and his performance on the day just to try and lay the blame at his feet for something that was entirely his coach's fault. Honestly our fans should be better than this.....

It's understandable when you are behind and must go all out for an attack. The numbers usually fool us. Scott's terrible positioning awareness really made us lose the midfield in the second half , thus leading to poor defending and conceding goals.

No. We never lost control of midfield at ANY point second half, thats why the numbers how how much better we were than Forrest. Rather We conceded two goals on the counter thanks to Mctominay not having the defensive awareness of a defensive midfielder. Which was entirely ETHs fault for sticking to that risk of no such player on pitch even after the warning that had us come from behind to 1-1.

Well, that's what I want to say. We lost control, so we was so vulnerable against their counter attack. You can not say you control the game, while you can not defend from the midfield.

Being caught on the counter 2 times over 45 mins, whilst dominanting all statistics counts as iron clad proof of control of midfield. I'd buy your argument if second half Forrest did to our midfield what Wolves did at OT. Which was break through it un opposed in transition 10-15 times. Fact is Forrest did no such thing yet they had a fair amount of the ball

Control of midfield is a highly mislesding concept. One side can maintain possession of the ball but not actually control the game.

Yeah I agree. It is a tricky term, just like domination. They make obviously sense but the little differences everybody has in terms of understanding probably make them just as problematic a tool as a benefitial one.

Wigan 0:2 Man Utd
I just don't get how he gets so many games and survives every transfer window when we continously see these kind of performances.

Because what he did tonight is exactly how ETH wants him to play, get on the end of the things in the box, press effectively and win the ball high up, not really get involved overly in the build up and stay as high as possible.

Should have scored a couple at least.

If that's the best he can do against a league one side we need to get him out if the club asap.

Goals have dried up which makes him pretty redundant, should have a much reduced role going forward now. Being used as an impact player off the bench will be much better use of his limited ability.

At least in the second half he made an attempt to get more involved, first half was pretty comical watching him run into same position where he couldn’t receive the ball and just stand around pointing.

McTominay is a black hole for our football. It doesn't escape him. He's just not good enough with the ball at his feet. When he's missing from inside the six yard box, again and again, there's literally no case to be made for him playing. Despite McTominay's supposed physical presence, Mainoo did most of the actual cleaning up in midfield. Just a whole lot of nothingness.

He's very high on my list of players to move on ASAP. Probably he is joint first with Martial.

He’s been very lucky with regards to injuries for any competition for his place in the team, I think it’s that simple.

He's so selfish

Took the ball straight out of Hojlunds stride and went onto miss it.

I get confused between him and Holjund when a chance goes begging

Had the wrong shirt on tonight, Wigan is exactly his level. Then again, even the Wigan midfielders had no worries with him.

Why is he still starting? It’s driving me nuts. He wasn’t particularly bad tonight but he’s a black hole in our midfield. He doesn’t have a clue what his role is as a CM. He just runs around as a headless chicken. How doesn’t EtH see this?!

Exactly. Not sure McT would walk into even Wigan's squad. We usually do not say this about McT because honestly we hope somebody will buy him from us, but the harsh truth is - he cannot make any EPL club better let alone should ever be starting for United.

And the fact that Erik doesn't see that or refuses to see it for months on, speaks volumes about Erik himself. I won't shed a single tear when Erik, McT, Rashford and the bunch are gone. Honestly I now include Bruno in that list as well. I used to be huge Bruno fan but to have a "5 out of 10" performance even against Wigan... Unforgivable

Is it really. Is your night ruined by McT starting. Is "black hole" the new "hiding from the ball"?

How do people not see that he is playing exactly the role ETH wants him to play and they are focusing on the wrong things when criticizing him? He is not playing an orthodox midfield role and his role is not to make a high volume of passes. Tonight the main issue was execution in the final 3rd and his tendency towards tunnel vision, too eager to shoot when an extra pass is on.

Stealing a living.

He is impossibly lucky to be playing for Manchester United.

He's an incredibly selfish and self absorbed player. Especially of someone of his lack of talent.

Plus his godawful first touch.

Love how he just punted the ball straight at Mainoo from a yard some time during the first half and went on to miss a chance after that.

Sums him up really.

Horrible in midfield.

Doesn't set up Rasmus because IMO he thinks his own finishing is better - TBH he might be right. Honestly, he could be seeing Rasmus miss sitter after sitter in training every day and wonder why we wasted all that money on him.

Sure. He is so selfish he made 3 key passes today and whilst passing the ball half as much as Mainoo and Bruno, had a higher pass accuracy than both for the entire match. Not to mention the second highest tackles (6) in the side behind Mainoo (8). What a sellfish, terrible footballing black hole of a player........how dare he miss chances even Rasmus couldn't take. How dare he occupy the spaces Bruno and Rasmus should be in, in a bid to score himself. The good for nothing glory hunter.

Even if his role is different to that of a normal midfielder as is being claimed here, it can't be right surely that he is only completing 30 passes in 90 minutes against a League 1 side that we've had near 70% of possession in

Jesus. Is that right? Not surprising because it’s the same shit every time but fecking hell…
