Suarez bites | "sorry for falling into him and biting him and that"

Preferably in the cheat-iest (it's a word....) fashion possible.

That would be an offside breakaway from a player whos been shown two yellow cards but not sent off, who then dives for a penalty under a challenge from the goalie getting him sent off in the process, all in the 94th minute of a game with 2 minutes added time, who then converts the penalty.

I think it's a bit unfair on Uruguay that a decision hasn't been made yet. They are going to need time to decide what/how to play without him, and FIFA just pissing about with the decision isn't helping. It's fair to say he'll miss the Colombia match though.
feck em. Dirty cheating bastards

Sure we all know that is the truth but I was just pretending for a minute that Liverpool/Uruguay actually care about Suarez and want to help him sort out his problems more than they want to win football matches. It would benefit all three parties in the long run if he could take a few months off get some counselling and then come back with a new attitude.
By all accounts Rodgers and the club have worked to improve this "thing" he has within him. His performances last season and virtually no yellow cards suggests that there was an infrastructure there to support the man and player. He was far less confrontational with refs and looked genuinely more content. However, whether it's because he's currently outside that framework or this was inevitably going to happen wherever he was is pretty difficult to know.

Liverpool know they have an outstanding asset and are obviously going to do their best to improve him for footballing and financial reasons. The motivations from Liverpool are likely to be predominantly self-interest based but that's the nature of professional sport. To suggest Liverpool don't care is a bit simplistic.

I don't know, man. They're doing what anyone would do under the circumstances - more or less. Let's wait until he has actually been punished/banned before passing too heavy a judgment on the team - not to mention the nation of Uruguay. Suarez is a bit special, you know - he doesn't represent the people of Uruguay.

The fact that a kick to the face could potentially cause severe injury, including brain damage. A slap or being spat on, I'd rather be spat on, but a kung fu kick is much more severe then a slap.

Do your research about what biting could mean for both parties involved.

Each to their own though. Spitting is vile. Spitting on someone is even more vile. If you'd rather be spat on then good for you.

The English media are really milking the Suarez incident. Even the Italians have said their piece and left it alone. I do not like Suarez, I think he has a victim mentality but the English press are going on and on and on. Let FIFA deal with it.

No he doesn't you're right. But Suarez is probably their biggest export globally right now. Whether he likes it or not, he is a leading figure from their country and is an icon. When people think Uruguay right now Suarez must be one of the first thoughts.

Point being, he represents their image. He stands for them because the standing he has.

Now that's not saying he is like this therefore all Uruguayans are. Not at all. But he's so synonymous with the nation right now that it's bound to damage the countries image.

Add to that the way the FA and senior members in the squad and around the squad have acted regarding this. There is no shame in being honest. But if you want to try and defend something you can do it respectfully. Frankly the liverpool fans in this thread who I've clashed with all day have at least been respectful to some degree. To say something never happened, but then also go on to say its a biased FIFA and there is a European agenda against Suarez is ridiculous and too far.

How by choosing to cover it?

To be fair it's only 24 hours old as a story. It's big news, it's Suarez and it's light relief from contemplating England's disaster. It's the perfect storm.

I rate the British press for the most part. What I said about Tabarez'press conference being predictable was that after the way he reacted in South Africa (rightly, in my opinion) his immediate reaction here was "they are at it again".

I'm not saying he is right, but I genuinely think he wasn't in a position to make a call and tried to deflect. The most damning footage only came out today really, initial one wasn't so clear cut and blatant and, as you know, during the game we get nothing. He has very little to room for manoeuvre in fairness. I haven't met a single fan today who hasn't rolled eyes and gone "ffs, he should know better". Not a single one of them will do anything but defend him to the hilt though. Rock and a hard place and all that.

I do appreciate that Anto, but I just don't like the way they are saying there is a biased European agenda against him. As I just posted there is a way to deny respectfully. Something along the lines of "we believe he is innocent and have submitted a strong defence to prove that and will await the outcome". I know that's probably too nice but just a quick example. The way they've done it is just wrong IMO.

Like I said I don't expect them to hang Suarez in the square and say he is guilty but the FA of Uruguay should know better than to say some of the thins they have.

And you have to take into account the things he's always said about the British press. I can understand why he feels he gets it harder than other players, and maybe it isn't fair. But he must also accept some responsibility in that he is half the cause of it with his comments.

It's absolutely mental the way they are burying their heads in the sand  but it is what it is.. Funny as hell though. I actually think he's lost a lot of supporters now in the form of Liverpool fans, some will defend him but those who do are just as mental as him IMO.

The worst part is the regular go-to place for "what's the latest in English football" for most Uruguayan is... RAWK. Obvious reasons, I already heard a couple of people telling me the clip is fake, wonder where they got that line from? Yups.

It's a fecking nightmare scenario, Balbi probably does the same and is likely consulting with those nutters :wenger:

Yes, I agree - it looks bad. But what I'm saying is that any management is bound to exercise some damage control (no matter how misguided) after an incident like this. The team are through - they have a World Cup tournament to finish here. They're bound to think about their own interests at this point - as long as there is any chance of their star man not being banned from the rest of the tournament. It's the nature of the game.

I'm not defending it - and I have zero sympathy for Luis bloody Suarez. I'm just saying that it's very easy at this point to mix the cards - and that is never a good thing.

Obviously, reality is photoshopped.

I think that objective reality, or 'the physical Universe' as some of us call it, simply doesn't understand the culture that Suarez grew up in.

Of course, that may seem a contradiction given that Suarez' upbringing took place inside the physical Universe - but then, so much about Luis is contradictory...

- Being racist doesn't mean you're a racist.
- Commit gross acts of misconduct that result in regular, lengthy bans that weaken your team because you want to 'win at all costs'.
- Dive in to disgraceful, career threatening challenges and then roll around on the floor yourself as if you've received the challenge.

So you see, objective reality is perhaps simply not capable of containing the many complexities that surround Luis Suarez' behaviour. Only Liverpool fans, Uruguayan football fans and closet racists can really understand these issues.

Objectively, it seems that Luis Suarez is a spoilt, unpleasant, potentially dangerous racist footballer - but what if it's objective reality that's racist...against Suarez? I know Suarez isn't a race, but what if that's just objective reality tricking me...again?

What if the Universe itself is fooling us all into trusting and believing in what we think are simple, objective facts - gravity, time, matter, consciousness - and in fact Luis Suarez, this simple, poor, brave, passionate man has been sent to free us from this cruel illusion.

Reality bites...

Or is that just Suarez?

Good point and well made. I guess I'm very pro sportsmanship and honesty and integrity. It's lost in football and that's one of my biggest hate in the sport, and at times like this it really gets to me more.

Case and point being I was watching the tennis today. Djokovic was on advantage in deuce and it was an important game in winning the match. An opponents shot was called out when on review it was in, and the rules say the point is replayed and djokovic would still be at advantage. But he knew he missed it anyway and gave the point to the opponent.

I know football is extremely different and you don't have the time to turn things around like you do in tennis, but I've always wished that this kind of honesty and integrity could be part of this special game too.

But with diving, play acting, all the money, etc etc, I know why it'll never happen.

Suarez's continued sub-human behaviour is a consequence of Liverpool pandering to him and repeatedly blowing smoke up his arse, after every misdeed. Liverpool deserve no praise for Suarez's behaviour, they have enabled it.

Rodgers has been verbally fellating Suarez for 2 years now. Kenny Dalglish destroyed his credibility to protect him. Suarez could take a shit on every fan's face whilst fisting their wives, and there'd be poems written about it. He has repeatedly been painted as the victim. It's absolutely no surprise that he doesn't see the consequences of his actions and fails to change.

Everyone on here seems to have missed there's a difference between what you do in public and privately. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind Suarez will get a -compassionate/pleading- grilling from some of the other players and Tabarez. Throwing him under the bus is an entirely different thing and way to go about things, that's for others to do, including FIFA.

What a terrible terrible post. Rodgers has repeatedly condemned suarez for his actions, kenny cocked things up but since then we've handled him well

God knows I hate Liverpool, and god knows I've argued with many Liverpool fans in this thread but I think this post is a bit unfair.

What Suarez did IMO (I could be wrong) is a reflex almost. I don't think he goes on the pitch to bite someone. He just completely loses it and does these stupid things.

Liverpool have come out and said they aren't happy with his actions and have spoken to him and if we are being fair he has been well behaved this year. A part of that must be down to Liverpool.

That being said, while his action might be a reflex, the comments he and his team and country have made since the incident also show he's a fecking prick and should burn in the darkest place in hell.

Rodgers made him train alone after the transfer stuff last summer.

Rodgers last summer: 'I will take strong, decisive action. There has been total disrespect of the club - this is a club that is historically one of the biggest in the world and has given him everything; absolutely everything.'

I know this stuff is nectar to some on here but spinning this directly against Liverpool is a stretch. As for Rodgers, his work with his squad has been extremely impressive and Suarez has benefitted from his management which has not been the exercise in sycophancy you suggest.

Are you joking?

Rodgers talks about Suarez as if he's Ghandi. He saves the worst of his cringefest press briefings for blowing smoke up Suarez's ass. A wonderful human being apparently. He just so happens to have a side interest in goading black players on the colour of their skin and biting opponents unprovoked.

Everything Liverpool have done has been to indulge Suarez. To keep him at the club and make him feel wanted and special. That's why he knows he can do what he wants.

I have no idea what the Uruguayan FA have said, just various personal statements by people associated with the team. In any case, whatever the FA does is bound to be a car crash, the long-standing President got sacked a couple of months ago after some disagreements with the government.

It's comical shit, the man wearing the team's mascot (the Light Blue Duck) costume is a personal friend of the country's Presient and was involved in some dodgy deals. The FAs President tried to remove him from the post (yes, as NT mascot, seriously) so the country's president (a former guerrilla guy who gets loads of great international press, feck knows why) stopped providing policing at matches, which effectively made it impossible to carry on with the league games, which in turn lead the league clubs to sack their own President and man responsible for putting in place a fecking brilliant infrastructure and process from the grassroots up, led by Tabarez.

Imagine what sort of wankers have been appointed to please the country's president and our NT mascot.

What is the general public's view of Suarez in Uruguay? I'm assuming he didn't get a lot of stick for what he did in the ghana match but since then he's messed up a few times (Mainly for liverpool) but what's his reputation like generally?

Rodgers has done his best. I feel a bit sorry for him really.

But Liverpool's previous handling of Suarez is a contributing factor, that's for sure.

If anything that's what makes it worse. It was only once it looked almost certain he was going to leave that the club actually decided to stop kissing his ass.

Bite and assault opponents. We can let that slide.
Goad black players about the colour of their skin. Oh you cheeky little boy Suarez, we still love ya.
Hand in a transfer request so he can move to a better club (a fairly normal happening in football). ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!

As soon as it became aparent Suarez would not leave, the 'wonderful human being' ass-kissing machine started up again.

I'm not surprised as he plays for an English club, already bit someone in the EPL and has abused someone racially. If Suarez played in Spain or Italy I highly doubt we'd have 6 seperate bits on the SSN app

Remember when Rodgers said Suarez made him a better person?!

Actually, that's probably true, if you add in, "by comparison".....

he's talked about him being a great footballer and a good influence in training, the former is definitely true and as far as we know so is the latter, its not like after the ivanovic thing brendan was like "oh he just had a wee nip at him so he did ok so", he said he was out of order and it was not expected of a liverpool player, that he'd let the club down

What is the general public's view of Suarez in Uruguay? I'm assuming he didn't get a lot of stick for what he did in the ghana match but since then he's messed up a few times (Mainly for liverpool) but what's his reputation like generally?

The main problem is that after the Ghana incident and the inexplicable hoo-ha around it (not a single South American, not just Uruguayan will see that as anything but a desperate action by a player that cares) a siege mentality formed in terms of Suarez being targetted unfairly. As a result the whole Evra stuff was regarded as likely another case of something being blown out of proportion (particularly with racism not being as big an issue or top of mind/agenda for people), a lot got lost in translation and, as said, most people who didn't depend on translated/edited stuff consulted RAWK. The entire line about him being a victim of some sort of witch-hunt was further supported with that ridiculous handball goal incident. It's pretty much deeply engrained that he seems to be the subject of some sort of moral crusade picking on him for things that always happened and keep happening in football. Not a victim thing, more a "why don't you pick on any of the other ones doing it and leave our boy alone".

The two biting incidents were universally seen as him being off his rocker, overstepping the line but no one thinks it is based on malice but his way of competitively going about things going too far. I'm not in Uruguay now but, as I said, everyone I've talked to is aghast at the latest, particularly because it affects the NT, during the World Cup... It's a fecking disaster, but we are all on the same boat, we want a shot at competing and know we need him so hope for some sort of miracle to happen.
