The Biden Presidency

Be the change you want to see in the world.

I do like dissenting voices. But can’t be arsed investing the time needed to have informed discussions about US politics. I’m delighted Trump is gone and think the world is a better place now Biden has taken the reigns (so find the relentless negativity in this thread a little tiresome) but that’s about a deep an analysis as I’m qualified to make.

I’m just saying that this whole thread is constant shitting on the Dems. With no dissenting voices at all. So you’re preaching to the converted.

Not really. I think a lot of people still believe that dems and labour in the UK are not beholden to their paymasters. Labour less so, but they will never get elected unless they become tory-lite.

I'm sure there will be a lot of bombings in the ME under the Biden presidency. They're such a lovely bunch.

Can't wait for the Republicans to somehow despite all their Qanon crap taking back the House/Senate and eventually returning to Trump as President all thanks to the Democrats incompetence, rinse and repeat for Don Jr/Ivanka/Baron in 2028.

damn! thank you joe for repealing trump's 7-day compulsory workweek law, and thank you jennifer rubin for being pro-reality in reminding us of that horror.

Any wank unironically refering to themselves as pro-reality deserves to have A Critique of Pure Reason dropped on them from a pro-reality height of say 30 feet.

Higher than Trump ever polled.

But does he have a core of 32% who he could decapitate the family members of, evacuate his bowels down their necks, burn down their homes and finally laugh in their faces and still have absolutely zero threat of losing their votes?

While coating the tax payer millions by playing golf at his own courses all the time, and while Tweeting bullshit 12 hours a day?

Probably not, no.

I have seen many Dems criticise Joe for various issues from the Covid relief money to kids still in cages and more recently his airstrikes. I can't remember Trump supporters ever admitting he did anything wrong let alone criticise him for anything. They just doubled down defending him no matter how indefensible his actions were.

RIP America. You let cable news divide you into tribes that care more about scoring political points than making your collective lives better. Please, at least, keep this among yourselves and don't go fecking up the rest of the world with your dysfunction anymore than you already have.

think this was a good response to the thread

Fully agree with the thread.

Also if you are going to idealise politicians than at least pick ones that are historically worthy. It makes sense to humanise people like Lincoln, Lenin, Mandela, Castro etc. These were historic men who built nations and changed the world. Cuomo is just a goon and not even a politically effective one(his response to the pandemic has been just about as bad as it gets).

It's a low standard.

AOC always doing harm is a heck of a claim

One of the many reasons why I don't think anyone should be getting excited about a potential AOC run for presidency in the next decade. The Democratic similar to the Labour Party is full of people in the extreme centre. Just the most insane group who don't believe in anything other attacking anyone to their left.

Lenin? What?

Lenin? What?
He helped establish the Soviet state while winning a civil war against the super reactionary whites and also his political theory was crucial in over throwing the old order in parts of the global south. He was pretty big historical figure, so while it's not really my type of politics I can understand why a lot of people would humanise and admire him. Thats all.

I'm sure that's true. She's a useful person to have around. Lots of the liberal media buy the nonsense about her being 'progressive' and that allows her to attack anyone who doesn't like centre right politics. She also seems to live for the job, so you know she'll fight to the death. As she did here, before time was finally called on it.

Too chaotic for a high profile job but used elsewhere I'm sure she can be an important weapon against those who want Biden to change things.

Neera Tanden is the stupidest news story in weeks but it just keeps on giving

(Robert Caruso is a former national security writer for the Guardian, HuffPo, etc, and Matt Bruenig is somebody who Neera got fired in 2016 for his tweets, and is celebrating her defeat now.)
