What R.Nilsson7 posted ^

Awesome player, always played with his heart on his sleeve. He's not a true United legend in my opinion but definately a true United great.

Just wish he didn't/wouldn't have that ridiculous media circus following him around 24 hours a day. It's really boring; take an England international for example. It's "Beckham this" and "Beckham that". I want to hear about the team, not just one man. Lets be honest, what the heck is so interesting about him?

Reminds me of a certain other United number 7 we are all very familiar with...

My favourite player for years, can't deny it. I tried to copy him as a kid, bought the first generation predator boots because he wore them, spent hours practising getting his signature curve on deadballs. I probably took better freekicks at 13 than I do now, because of him.

Yeah same here bergen, I loved practicing set pieces the way Beckham delivers them.

I still really enjoy watching him play, what a wicked cross into the box he's got too. Still one of the best passers of a football in the world today, in my opinion.

Very good player for this club, still loves United and supports us - which I love to see from our ex players - good friends with a lot of the team still, was part of that fantastic Class of '92 which is legendary now... but I wouldn't say he's a United legend.

In light of Ronaldo leaving there has been a lot of discussion over what makes a Manchester United legend and it's my opinion that you have to be more than just a great player. Ronaldo didn't love the club sufficiently to be a United legend, and Beckham, whilst he did love the club a lot, wasn't brilliant enough a player to be a United legend. He was a very good player, but he wasn't truly amazing or anything (he wasn't as good as Ronaldo).

That's not me really criticising him though - it takes an awful lot to be a United legend and very few players get there really.

Top United fan, fresh out of Peckham.

In fairness, top class player and in footballing terms, highly underrated. Can still perform at the top level and probably will do so for several years. One of the greatest passers of a ball and should certainly be held in as higher regards as Gerrard and Fwank, in this respect.

Would like to see him playing in England again.

I think the two best crosses I've seen deliver are one to Ruud against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in the 2002/2003, it wasn't a goal as the Spurs keeper made an outstanding save (Kasey Keller ?) but the curve on the ball was just outstanding. The other one was to Ronaldo at Real Madrid and it was a goal, again some outstanding curve from a midfield cross

Anyone care to update his stats with his assists (im lazy!)
Was going to say that. His goal scoring record isn't too impressive, but isn't a major part of his game. His assists would be a fairer reflection.

We all love United
Didn't have the most natural of talents but made full use of it and practises hours and hours at what he's good at. Played his heart out and gave his all for the club without speaking a bad word of it even after he left under almost bitter terms.

He's a United legend. End of

Him and Yorke were awesome together in 99 the crosses against the scousers away and inter at home stand out.

We sold him because he acted like he was bigger then the club. He's a fan and he was quality (though maybe should have scored more with his ability) - but his depature was because of his behaviour and that bint he married

Love is blind and all that

How many would have him back this summer to replace Ronaldo?

I wouldn't be against the idea, even if he was to only play a bit part

I wouldn't have him back permanently I don't think. Maybe on a loan basis like he did with AC Milan to keep his fitness up for England, in that sense yes I don't see why not. I've always been a fan of Beckham. He's United through and through, he still loves the club to this day (I loved his celebration at the Emirates) and he's still a great player.

On my first trip to Old Trafford (CL vs Olympiakos, South Stand Tier 3, back row) the thing which stuck in my mind most of all were Beckhams white boots, which were constantly flickering all over the pitch. I had never seen how hard he worked off the ball on TV. He always gave his all, and it's a real shame that he doesn't get credit from the fans. He's been the greatest ambassador of our club since Charlton, and I really hope and believe he will take a part in Uniteds future in some way. If it was up to him he would've played for United all his career. Somewhere in the back of his mind, it's likely he's thinking of ways to buy the club back from the Glazers...

Great player, always gave everything for the club. His move in 2003 was bad for all parties involved, we didn't have a player on the right wing even approaching his level for the next 3 seasons, and we didn't win the Premiership for the next 3 seasons. Gutted when we sold him, legend in my view.

Legend for me, no question. An English lad and a United fan through and through who came up through our youth set up and spent 11 years at the club. Always, always gave his all and for a period of about 3 years was one of the best players on the planet. He is also probably the best dead deadball specialist I have ever seen, and from his right wing he could probably land a football on a golf tee stationed inside the 6 yard box. He's also a genuinely nice guy who has nothing but the highest praise for United, even after he left. Really wish he had spent his entire career with us

Legend, for all the reasons already described above.

Great video with the assists as well, cheers for posting that up.

Probably my favourite ever United player to be honest, and i really miss having him here.

When i first started really supporting United he was just the man and me and my friend spend ages trying to take free kicks like him and things, my mate even had the dodgy curtains!

To be honest i actually think having him back for half of a season before the world cup would be a great move for all parties. Younger players like Welbeck, Tosic and Macheda would learn so much from him, partly his love o f the club and model proffessionalism, He would bring in a certain amount of passion for the badge that some o f the younger players in world football not just united seem to lack.

Definatly a United legend for me, and to be honest as you will see most people agree, this can proved by that whenever there is some sort of picture or montage of united legends him, giggs, best, charlton and cantona are always always in there. One other thing i do miss is having a player with a real speciality, a beckham free kick was like getting a penalty and other teams didnt want to give them away.

Red man down in London town
I dont see how any Manchester Supporters could hate David Beckham after all he has done for us. He bleeds red, had a long and productive career here and always talks fondly of our club. He is one of us and has given us many memorable moments throughout the years.

His place in history is guaranteed and he will always be remembered as one of the worthiest recipients of the number 7 shirt.

What's his monetery worth now?? 200 - 300 million? He could probably head a consortium of investors (and supporters trusts) to buy the club back. It's gotta be knocking about in his mind.
As much as I do love Beckham, I really don't think he is entertaining any ideas of buying the club

He was a good player.

Liked him a lot as we were fellow cockney reds.
