Yeah, Fury has really reached out to the US. The partnership with Sugar Hill, the Irish connections, the name-dropping of famous Americans. He turned Wilder's gift into his own show.
I kind of enjoyed Wilder's pressers before Fury, but he seemed to not know how to react to Fury as a person. He just assumed that Tyson was a clown and that people wouldn't take him seriously, but he did win people over, including Americans.
I was sorely tempted to come out of betting retirement for this one.

I think a lot of people here are just giving Fury the credit he deserves for beating a guy who was 40 and 0 arguably 3 times in his own backyard. It's not easy to do that, no matter what you think of Deontay Wilder boxing wise. Doing that is not endorsing Fury the guy who is an extremely complex individual and who has had serious mental health issues, been on the verge of suicide, and who was seemingly self-destructing.
Fury has said some things in the past that are pretty disgusting and indefensible. Yes, things which are racist and which are homophobic. At the same time, he's had bouts of mental instability and is in his own way a victim. He is also from a Traveller background which means he's probably been on the receiving end of racism himself.
I think people are giving Tyson a chance to redeem himself because he has shown courage in confronting something that a lot of men are struggling with. I wouldn't say anyone is condoning what he has said and done in the past or has this idea that he is now a saint. They are just giving him his due.
If Wilder can knock him down 3 times in total.... I'm sure others could too. I'm not sure what I think of Fury on the whole, I love that he dismantled the horrific myth of Wilder in their first fight after everything that came beforehand and also the Wlad fight... this fight was utterly pointless, he beat him in 1, and horrifically beat him in 2.... just to more or less do it again, even if he did get knocked down twice
But now he'll sit on this "greatest of my era" shit on the basis on that which is kinda true right now, boxing is shit because of it. I'm not overly sure who started this bullshit cherry picking to create false legacies, probably Sugar Rey Leonard, but Floyd took it an obscene level.... and now loads are at it.

There was a fairly long unnecessary break up the ref decided to do before Fury got knocked down in the fourth. I thought Fury was going to hold his hand up and gesticulate over how long the ref took as it seemed to be done to help Wilder and the round not end up like round 3. Fury then walked onto some punches after trying too quick to get back the momentum. It should've been either a very quick separation or left to box as not much was going on in that moment compared to other times, very strange call and odd phase for Fury in the fight.
The American commentators were funny. They were telling me Wilder had hurt Furey when you could see in Wilder's eyes he was in trouble. This was about 20s before he had him down in the third.
Great fight but Wilder's no boxer. As others have said if Furey had big power it would have been over early.
Fantastic drama and was a great example of why we love HWs so much, they're rarely fights for the purists but damn they're entertaining.
The 4th round skewed it a little, again HWs can do that, but honestly fury should've had him out of there much sooner. Wilder is possibly the easiest to hit professional fighter I've ever seen, it really makes me question his trainers and sparring.

people are complex. Fury seems like a nice genuine guy. Wilder seems like a disrespectful knob.
Brilliant fight. For what Wilder lacks in terms of technical boxing, he makes up for with heart and the will power to just keep digging deep even if he does come across as an absolute tit. A lot of fighters would have been down and out if they were on the end of that from Fury much sooner or vice versa actually. I honestly hope we get to see Wilder against some of the other top heavyweights because you can't deny it's almost always explosive to watch.
I think Whyte will be a real danger for Fury if they fight. Very good, tough boxer that would make a real fight of it, hopefully would be in the UK too at a normal time, Fury hasn't fought in the UK for years. Joshua/Usyk will be a huge fight, if Joshua wins the rematch there's chance of a very similar scenario with them fighting three in a row. It'll be a real shame if we never get to see Joshua against Fury or even Joshua against Wilder which makes for a fascinating fight.

For me this is like calling Cantona a thug and a bad person because of an isolated incident. Most geniuses (sports and otherwise) are mavericks which means they won't always be politically correct, and personally that's why I love them despite their obvious flaws.
Last night felt damn good. Love seeing the mental gymnastics from the AJ fanboys is glorious. They can't stand that an overweight fecking gypsy is cementing himself as the best, comfortably.

It was a brilliant fight and I’m glad that Fury put Wilder down again in the end. Wilders lack of respect at the end shows everything you need to know about him as a man.
There’s still some big fights to play for. I really hope Joshua can find a way to win that rematch with Usyk and give boxing fans the fight we all so badly want.

The last two fights I’ve actually gotten a bit more respect for Wilder the fighter. Since he started this series with Fury he’s massively improved. Just think he really gassed and Fury is just too big for him. Cant see him putting on the 30lbs or so which is needed and retaining the cardio at that weight. Just couldn’t deal with the bumping and Fury leaning on him.
Anyway think he needs to seize on this moment and actually go out and fight the best in the division. Whyte, Parker, Ruiz and the likes. No point in protecting himself now fighting bums building a record whilst the likes of AJ is out there fighting everyone.

I'm probably going overboard with GOAT. Has any other fighter unified the cruiserweight and heavyweight division? Just Holyfield ? But Uysk could do it quicker in a world against giants.
Too much is being said about power and size when it comes to Usyk. The better boxer will 99.9% of the time win, and Uysk for me schools everyone in the division. If Tyson is as sloppy as he was last night, Usyk beats him. Ive supported Fury from day 1 but Usyk is the bogeyman.
People calling it one of the greatest fights… I know opinions and all that… I thought it was absolutely one of the most entertaining fights in a long, long time but from a technical standpoint, It was pretty dire. Fury didn’t have his best night and Wilder was fecking windmilling from the second round.
Have you seen the scorecards? Fury won every round between 6-10 by being technically better. Maybe you're not a fan of Fury's technique and perhaps you enjoyed Usyk beating AJ more but each to their own - we saw 5 knock downs last night in an 11 round war. Incredible drama and that's what I think most people want to see.
It doesn’t take a lot to be technically better than Wilder. I thought Fury didn’t have his greatest performance by any stretch. Thought he was better in the second fight. And yes, I enjoyed Usyk’s performance against AJ — it was a masterclass in boxing.
The last part, I agree with it; lots of drama, lots of entertainment.

To be fair it's not outlandish to be of the opinion that any elite sportsperson is on PEDs.
If by probably you mean certainly, then I agree. I think you're hugely underestimating the importance of size too, being the better boxer (very debatable comparing Usyk and Fury) doesn't mean much when your arms are half the length.
Last night Fury wanted to bully Wilder, and got complacent walking onto some shots. It's unlikely Usyk gets treated with the same lack of respect.

Fury has some amazing recovery powers. The punch Wilder landed on him for that first knockdown I can't believe anyone else would have gotten up let alone take over again so quickly.
It was just landed so perfectly and the effect should have been devastating.
Hopefully Wilder will retire now as he may have heart and a great punch but is severely lacking skills wise.

Can't see Fury playing that badly against anybody that he remotely respects.
Could watch any combination of Fury, Wilder, Usyk and Joshua fight every few months for the next few years. Some great heavyweight fights so far and some more to come hopefully. Didn’t think last night’s fight was as good as many of those others in recent years, but still enthralling. Wilder vs Joshua feels like an obvious fight to make if the belts are elsewhere and one of them needs a big win to rehab a career.
Usyk’s ludicrously underrated. The man spends his life travelling around the world, listening to his next opponent tell everyone that he’ll finally be the one to knock him out, before outboxing him and taking his belts. Fury would be favourite for me because of his size, but it would be his most difficult fight and another 60-40 tough one to call. It’s the fight I now want to see most for all the marbles.

Surely Fury is just too big for Usyk?
By the general populace still. The connoisseurs give him his due, but a lot of the big fight fans and less specialist media don’t give him his due. This thread is a pretty good example over the years. The build up to the Bellew fights and the Joshua fights said a lot – and the reaction to them too. Most saw Joshua-Usyk as a bad loss for Joshua, rather than yet another crowning moment for Usyk.
