Said the same thing last season, players are getting off scott free and it's a joke. Gutless, overpaid and overrated the most of them
It’s virtually a different team. When the manager installs negativity in the team then it’s hard to click straight out of that.

The performance today was bad but it wasn't as bad as our performance away to Olympiakos last year. Imo, that was the worst I've ever seen us play.
You really can’t believe that, seriously?

The Cambridge team cost nothing, their starting 11 are a bunch of rejects (9) from other Clubs and two youth team players. They are in the second division and have little hope of getting promoted. FFS man.

There's a difference between playing a team in Champions League and a fecking League Two side.

I stand by what I said. The performance against Olympiakos for me was the worst I've ever seen us play. Doesn't matter if it's against League 2, CL, or a woman's league team. We couldn't string more than 2 passes together that night, and it literally is the worst performance I've seen from us.

Tonight was just the same as what we've seen most of this season. Sterile domination. lack of creativity, and weak at the back. It's bad, but I don't think it's as bad as Olym.

Because I don't think this is the worst Utd performance I've ever seen= I'm insane?
No, it's because you don't know the difference between a performance against a Champions League team and a team that's mid table in league two.
The worst you've ever seen us play is against Olympikias, crazy.

If we played with these tactics/formations/players against Olympiakos away last year, I'm pretty confident we wouldn't have lost, and more than likely maybe would have scored/won.

If we played with the Olympiakos tactics/formations/players against Cambridge tonight, I'm pretty sure we would have lost.

Obviously, I can't prove any of this but is that hard for you to grasp or am I still insane?

From what I remember, we created chances in that game and RVP missed a few sitters. I could be wrong. In no way was that performance anywhere near as bad as plenty of others I've seen.

So a 2-0 loss where every player is absolute dog shit is better than a draw where we have 115% possession and 16 shots with 6 on target to their 5 shots with 0 on target?

Some people need to learn patience. We always prided ourselves on being a club that give managers time and some people want our 4th manager in 4 years. I realise people expect instant results these days especially with the money spent. People are understimating the scale of the task Van Gaal in trying to implement this new more European type philosophy on the club.

As poor as the attacking football is at the moment I am enjoying the different approach from Van Gaal. I can remember watching his Bayern teams and they played good football with the centre backs making driving runs up at the pitch. It's clear this system is dependent on centre halves that can start off attacks and we just don't have them. Until we get that teams are just going to keep exploiting that weakness and there is little we can do as the other players need to learn the system regardless.

I like some of the signs though of Van Gaal turning us into a smarter team as I believe this will benefit us when it all starts to come together especially in Europe. We have always been beatable by teams with a good game plan especially top European teams and once we do learn Van Gaal's system and play it with confidence I think we will see the good attacking football again, but with a much more tactically aware side.

Lets face it as Fergie has said we never played particularly detailed or over complex systems a lot of this will be new to these players. Especially the UK based ones where they are not educated the Dutch way for example, this will be a lot for them to learn and some will fall by the wayside as they just do not have the ability/technique needed to play these systems. Sometimes you have to go back to basics and I believe this is what we have done. Van Gaal has understimated the challenge at hand I think by saying 3 months and has been on a steep learning curve himself. I believe he deserves the chance now to get to the summer at very least and too bring his choice of players in. Only then will we really be able to judge this guy.......

When one of the teams is Olympiacos and the other is Cambridge then yes.

Spent 90 minutes in front of TV yet must have watched total of 10 minutes of the game. It was so boring that I switched to watching a movie on my phone.

We're playing extraordinary dull football for a team which has spent £150M over the summer and have surplus of attacking talent to put fear into the opposition.

You have a short memory.
Losing home and away to Everton, Man City and Liverpool.
Going in to games to be difficult to beat, rather than with the intention of winning the game.
Moyes finally admitted (after being beaten repeatedly) that the only way forward is to assmble a totally brand new team. The title winning players were now junk.
Lets not forget that we finished 7th.

At present, we are on target to finish in the top 4 and we should have CL football (very important).

Perhaps you prefer mid-table finishes, but I prefer top 4 finishes.
You are half right. We were shit under Moyes, but we are also shit now. As far as our club mentality goes we are better, we play to win and we have gone on unbeaten runs , but somehow the other teams aren't too far away from us, Arsenal,Liverpool,Spurs and Everton have all been shit this season and if they played how they did last season we probably would be 6th-ish.

The only 2 teams that beat us last season that we should have eased passed were West Brom and Sunderland and they aren't easy teams to beat seeing as we haven't been able to beat them this season either, other than that it was business as usual for Moyes- we lost against in-form teams last season due to our woeful performances but we weren't trashed by any team outside the top 3 .

In the cup competitions we reached the League cup semi- final and were ousted by sunderland in a woeful Penalty shootout which saved us from a spanking at Wembley against City, we lost to Swansea in the FA cup which isn't so strange and we lost to Bayern Munich in the Quarterfinals of the UCL after putting up a courageous fight, you could say it was business as usual in the cup competitions.

Last season left a bitter taste in everyones mouth and it was really depressing but we weren't exactly trashed by MK dons or held at home by Cambridge, our 11 game unbeaten run was great but we didn't exactly play good football in that run, i don't even know how we managed to pull that off but thankful we did, now it seems like we are back to playing clueless football which is sad and depressing after spending 150 million, Arsenal are in-form and breathing down our necks and so are Spurs and Liverpool.

i am standing by LVG and his experience , but i am not in support of his whole philosophical Mumbo Jumbo, i am not going to be able to wonder if we can tactically out-manuevre cambridge utd in their home and get away with 3 points or execute a formation against Yeovil and Aston Villa when we should be leaving places like that we 3 points without any worry.

Starting to think it's the old 'we've no proper cm's' that's holding us back. I mean Rooney and Di Maria/Herrera/Mata/Fellaini just doesn't fit the bill as CM if you ask me.

Di Maria, Rooney and Mata should play, but just not as part of cm. It's tragic really, we have to many attacking, world class players. We need more Hendersons and Parks.

Feck it. Start Smalling and Fellaini up top and hoof the ball.

No, we don't have a manager who can set up the team properly, our midfield is more or less fine.

Perhaps LVG doesn't understand (enough) the limitations of the players at his disposal. Hence, he keeps trying to coax more from the players in systems of play that they seem incapable of mastering. There is a lack of intelligence in our play in general and no one other than Blind seems capable of dictating play. We need more like him, all over the pitch. Summer recruitment will sort this out. I think the main problem is not necessarily the midfield but the 'spine' of the team, which is the far weaker than most of the top contenders for the League and CL.

I remember when we beat Milan 7-2 over 2 legs back in 2010 and just remember thinking how depressing it would be to be a Milan fan right then, there team was so slow with ageing players and we won at a canter. The way we have been playing post Fergie at times has really reminded me of that Milan team and I look back at the squad we had back then and there's probably half as much talent in the team. Yes we had a defence that was in it's prime and it helped but I am more thinking about the quality of football we could produce with that side and it's just streets ahead of where we are currently. If I could have taken a look at the squad we have now back then I would honestly have thought we would be challenging for CL titles and winning domestic competitions not battling for 4th place and not in a European compeition. Half way through the first half of Burnley I did actually say "this is really shit" so thought I would have to contribute a post in here. Anyhow, luckily we will never be in the same situation as Milan so onwards and upwards!
