It's random non-committal report.@do.ob Can you verify this? How good is Berger with regards to Dortmund news?

Yeah just frustrating to see future stars pass us by and have to pay a kings ransom to get them from the likes of Leicester. With 4 CBs already and the belief in Axel, I get why we didn’t. We have also been monitoring Badiashile who has just started impressing for Monaco.
Plus there was all that farce with Sancho. Ffs!
Regardless of the report. What would you say is the historical reliability of the journalist in question with respect to Dortmund. It's random non-committal report.
Leicester didn't exactly buy him for peanuts in fairnessWould love Fofana. They would take us to the cleaners again but I honestly believe he will develop into one of the best defenders in the league.
He is still young and learning, has the odd mistake that you would expect but the tools are there for him to be top drawer.
Why on earth weren’t we or others willing to take a chance on him?
I don't know. When they hitch their wagon to reasonable narratives it's hard to tell. But it's basically the same story as last summer: Dortmund have a sum and a deadline in mind (maybe €100m?!), if someone meets their demands then they get Sancho, if not, then they don't.Regardless of the report. Yes that makes sense. Patrick Berger seems to have come out from nowhere over the last few months, at least on Twitter (I may be mistaken)...same for the Sky guy, Max Bielfeld (sp?). So since these guys seemed to be relatively new to the transfer tweets scene, I didn’t know whether they had any prior reputations or reliability within German media.I don't know. True but there was enough evidence to be confident the risk would pay off.Leicester didn't exactly buy him for peanuts in fairness
Fofana would've been well scouted by the club, with the then French Scout Mathieu Seckinger likely having a full dossier on the player. But the scout can only make recomendations which then need to be taken up by the person setting the directive, when it comes to recruitment, which at United is the first team manager.True but there was enough evidence to be confident the risk would pay off.
We’ve started to spend on youngsters like this recently, shame this one slipped the net.
Yeah I’m hoping we can net some of these French super crop of defenders.Fofana would've been well scouted by the club, with the then French Scout Mathieu Seckinger likely having a full dossier on the player. There's another young player at Lens (Loic Bade) who could also have a similar impact as Fofana. All the scout can do is make a recommendation and provide a report on the player over the course of the season.
I've been monitoring the German sports journalists for a while starting from early 2020. Most of the stories that Romano and other reliable journalists eventually latch onto pertaining to the Bundesliga typically come from the Sport1 or Sky Sport Germany journalists. In terms of reliability, Sky Sport Germany are at the top (Reddit Tier 1) with Sport1 journalists Florian Plettenberg and Patrick Berger just behind them (Tier 2). From the remaining sources, Falk's good enough for Bayern Munich and not so good for the rest, and the rest...well, yeah.Yes that makes sense. So if you look at it from Solskjaer's pov, signing a youngster with limited first team experience like Fofana was risky due to the expectations and immense scrutiny at the club . Leicester can take that risk and their players play in a less demanding environment.Yeah I’m hoping we can net some of these French super crop of defenders.
I hope the performances without Maguire crystallise it for Ole just how much the quality in that position drops off in Harry’s absence.
Great, that’s what I hoped. Thanks mate!I've been monitoring the German sports journalists for a while starting from early 2020. The regional outlets are still somewhat reliable for their own stories (like Rurh Nachrichten for Dortmund news). Overall, when you see the aforementioned Sport1 journalists lock down exclusive interviews with personnel from Bayern and Dortmund/Schalke (respectively), I can safely say that they offer more than just random stories.
We already got Willy Kambwala, not Ole’s fault he got injured and isn’t old enough. Kid has amazing potential.Yeah I’m hoping we can net some of these French super crop of defenders.

Whatever happened to Wily Kambwala? Granted, he was a bit young, 16 (?), when we signed him, but I don't even see him in the U18 lineups. With 4 CBs already and the belief in Axel, I get why we didn’t. We have also been monitoring Badiashile who has just started impressing for Monaco.

They also play in a 3 which gives a lot of security with some of his weaknesses and allows him to come straight into the side with out the added pressureSo if you look at it from Solskjaer's pov, signing a youngster with limited first team experience like Fofana was risky due to the expectations and immense scrutiny at the club . But like I said in my previous post, There's other players of a similar profile who we can target if the plan is to take a chance on a young CB with a high upside. But we would have to be patient because there will be teething problems.
Sky Germany is a garbage source. Max Bielefeld in particular has a daily (?!) show about transfer rumours, which means he's either somehow clued into everything or he has to bullshit to fill air time. The Sport1 guys at least still have the regular dynamic where they don't have to come up with insights based on a production schedule. But Sport1 gets access, because it's a TV station, that doesn't necessarily mean that their reporters don't make up stuff. Until a couple of weeks ago I had never heard of the two journalists you mentioned, now they tell you they are so well connected they know about everything that's happening everywhere. Odds are that they know some things because they work for a TV station, but they also fill a lot of the blanks with fortune telling.I've been monitoring the German sports journalists for a while starting from early 2020. So you would get rid of Rashford but keep Martial?I speak sense. Haaland is an unbelievable footballer and would take us to the next level. Rashford on the other hand is a overhyped mediocre player he will never be the striker you want him to be. Haaland has scored 100 goals in 146 games. He is the type of player we need and I would swap him for Rashford in a heart beat.
Absolutely agree, Rashford over Martial in any scenario. So you would get rid of Rashford but keep Martial?
Im a big fan of Martial but i would not in a million years get rid of Rashford before Martial.
Not now though. He was outstanding yesterday but will now need to kick on and if he does ...expect BM or one of the others to come calling. They also play in a 3 which gives a lot of security with some of his weaknesses and allows him to come straight into the side with out the added pressure
Nope. It would be a terrible mistake. He needs game time. Another season on loan makes the most sense to me. I don't think he's close to being ready to play for us yet.I think he's ready to take Matic's place in the squad. Arguably also Pogba's place, seeing as he's now a leftwinger.
Last summer we had maguire, Lindelof, Bailly, Rojo, Smalling, Jones and Tuanzebe on the books. We’ve got rid of 2 so far.True but there was enough evidence to be confident the risk would pay off.
We’ve started to spend on youngsters like this recently, shame this one slipped the net.
I'd consider you something of an expert then. I couldn't even be arsed watching a 5 minute compilation.I do like the look of Botman based on a 5 minute Youtude compilation of all his 'best moments'.
Was it a compilation of his actual defending? You know when there's no substance when they talk about a defender being such a "beast" in the title, and 50% of it is passesI do like the look of Botman based on a 5 minute Youtude compilation of all his 'best moments'.
I’ve absolutely no idea about him, nothing, nada!I do like the look of Botman based on a 5 minute Youtude compilation of all his 'best moments'.
Pogba?I think he's ready to take Matic's place in the squad. Arguably also Pogba's place, seeing as he's now a leftwinger.
Yeah, was just highlighting how they could bed him in earlier and give him the right environment to develop, than someone like us who doesn't play a 3 back and the pressure is vastly different. Not now though. He was outstanding yesterday but will now need to kick on and if he does ...expect BM or one of the others to come calling.
Feck, he’d be a shoe in at City right now!!!
Shame he never got to win that Champions League Trophy at Arsenal
But he won a good contract, even for a short period.Shame he never got to win that Champions League Trophy at Arsenal
Willian has two more years of a fat contract and he and his family loves living in London. He is not going anywhere.Tweet
