So signing the exact same positions we did two years ago would be progression? We signed a cheap winger in an area we are not even strong in and we need to sign a new winger (we have already signed 3 in the last two years as well as Greenwood comign through, its crazy), we signed a quality centre back when we needed two but got that cheap winger instead and here we are two years later needing a right winger and a centre back. The window you mention, in ayears time we still have no central midfielders of quality defensively and two years later we probably need a new second choice right back as Trippier is 32.
There are the likes of Romero and Romagnoli possibly available for around £30m, that would leave £40m which buys plently of quality central midfielders.....not goin gto go on and on, we all have our opinions and is no definitive right and wrong. But though you are making some good points, I simply fail to see how juggling around whatever finances we have that spending £20m on a second choice right back within our current squad is good business this summer
