I actually think there's some legs to the rONaldo situation, maybe I'm just easily influenced.

Somebody described them as a 'respected Spanish media outlet'. I've never heard of them, so I don't know what to make of it.
I don't think any outlet with "Mercado" in their name is particularly reliable. After all they specialise in transfer stories, which also explains the high follower count.

Best shot at making the squad although Ronnie has failed to impress in Brasil enough to warrant inclusion. Purchased for €68.5 million, 4 seasons & 29 goals later back to Brasil at a €15 million bargain - kudos to Perez
Thats very true, but the Brasilian League has been investing greatly the past few years & the league is very competitive, so maybe to his mind - its a win-win situation in terms of gettin games & his form back to decent standard where he's enjoyin his football again, cos surely he cant be enjoyin the lack of games at his age & u never know he might have got encouragement from Scolari to make a move like that!

Thats a shit stat as regards to Kaka alright - 4 seasons & 29 goals at that price, just shows spending those amounts dont guarantee a fruitful signing - Torres being the other example, but atleast he's won the Champions League & Europa League aswell though - although mostly being a passenger. Still tho, he won things & played his part!

Because he's 28 and he won't be a free agent on next summer, but on summer of 2015. And because he's pretty good with a football.
And his career will last beyond the norm because he's a fitness freak (vanity included) & none of this English footballer mentality of gettin completely rubbered all pre-season long. The English footballer type reminds of Ricky Hatton. You cant just abuse your body like that & then bust a gut to get back into shape every year - it takes its toll. European footballers have a much more professional attitude & they're not piss-heads either, nor eat the worst types of foods.. Ronnie wants to be the best ever - cant think of any English footballers that think like that!

Your view of English footballers is more than a bit out of date.

Apart from Rooney, obviously, because if there's something wrong to do, he's done it, amirite?

The last one to think like that got a boot to the face.

Seriously is this gonna happen, the caf will implode under its own weight if it does. This rumour just won't feck off, I wasn't too hopeful but it just persists. Could it be?????

You could also see it as an easy rumour to fabricate. It could all be true, but as long as there is no news about Ronaldo's contract, it justs an easy connection to make for writers

I'm sceptical, and think this story has all the hallmarks of an agent planting stories in the media trying to get the best deal for his client.

Transfer related, not necessarily to Twitter, but -
With us being linked to Ronaldo and apparently putting in an $80 million bid, is it possible we as fans haven't realised how big a difference that new TV money has made? Spurs just spent near on $30mil on Paulinho or who ever it was. Small Prem clubs are buying up players from all around that they usually wouldn't be able to get.
That and we're rumoured to have had a warchest for ages now that we never use. Maybe SAF was saving it for Moyes.
So, it is definitely RonaldON.
You heard it here first. Medical for Ronaldo scheduled for next week.

Why pay €80m for a 29 year old, who will be a free agent in 12 months ?

We could just give him a €40m signing on fee next summer and buy Thiago & Strootman with the change.

Transfer policy is confusing me this summer.

28 and 24 months. I suspect that he'll probably make most of that back for us in shirt sales and commercial deals.

Most likely Nike and Cheverolet will. Truly beleive these two will be footing the majority of the cost to bring him. One thing we can learn from Madrid is exploiting commercial images of our players! We hear time and time again from perez, these top players pay for themselves.

Ronnie would sell a shit-load of shirts alright, but it'll come at the expense of United another players name on it. Most United fans will buy a shirt - many will buy both home & away shirts, but they wont buy an extra one with Ronnies name on it - unless folk are minted.

Its really only new fans or club-jumpers that bring new revenue in shirt sales from the previous season(s)
& as we've seen before with Beckham - many fans follow the player more than the team & will change allegiance very quickly.

I'd be interested to see how many extra shirts Real have sold each season since Ronnies been there?!

Sell Xavi, keep Thiago? would be a reasonable option for Barcelona.

How about Xavi giving part of his salary to Thiago? That's another option.

"Oh Thiago. It's Xavi again. I just called to see if you're in. Okay, well I want to ask you stay at Barcelona so call me when you get this message."
