Am I right in thinking that the boyfriend of the reporter has been sharing their relationship scrapbook? Bit much no?
Happened the day of the shooting. He was visibly shaken having just lost the woman he loved and with the media pouncing on him for interviews and stuff he wasn't exactly in the right frame of mind. People cope with loss differently. Might have been the only way he could find to cope with things at the time.

I don't want to watch the video, but I saw a still of it. The gunman was pointing the gun right at the reporter while she was interviewing. Did he miss a few times? Because she obviously screamed after a few shots had already been fired.
People don't necessarily lose consciousness/strength instantly unless the shot hits the central nervous system. There's plenty of time to be surprised, scream, or run/tumble a few yards. A few years ago I posted a video of a horrific murder that happened in Portugal (horrific because of the circumstances, as it's a man with his granddaughter on his lap shooting her father, his son-in-law, because of a petty argument). Guy was shot 5 times at point blank range and still ran about 10 yards before falling down.

If adrenaline kicks in, an increase in heart rate and blood vessel contraction helps maintain the flow of blood to the brain and muscles until the massive blood loss overcomes this system.

They're really run by incompetent cnuts.
On the contrary, I think they're quite competent for the ultra-capitalist, web traffic oriented postmodern era. A huge number of people are increasingly drawn to sensationalism rather than bland, appropriate, factually accurate pieces that blend in with the rest. Dramatic albeit inconsiderate imagery = chances of public outcry or atleast some sort of attention = publicity (negative or otherwise) = more clicks irrespective of opinions in terms of favorability. Evolve with the times or get left behind, and that's especially true for tabloids like the Sun, who are under no allusions of maintaining journalistic integrity either going by their history of shameless attention seeking in the name of free speech:

So there isnt a risk of a spillover from the US? its a huge problem that the US has..I hear Trump saying that the issue isnt guns..its mental health..partly I agree, that isnt a thing that seems to be looked at..together with gun control(keeping those guns from such people), perhaps that could curb it.
Minimal risk. We get a fair number of guns smuggled into the country but they end up with gangs who tend to keep the violence amongst themselves these days. Our social welfare system is much more comprehensive than the USAs and our society is more cooperative.

Culture. Historically, we had to cooperate and support each other or we'd starve/freeze to death over the winter. As a result we lack the individualistic streak that is inherent in our southern neighbours.

We're also what I consider an establishment country whereas the US is a revolutionary one. As such, we are naturally geared towards a well ordered society.

Even now in some areas you have to pitch in and help out. The amount of people I stopped for on mountain roads who'd run out of gas or got stuck in a ditch, because you know if you don't help them you have no idea when the next person to pass will be and if they will last that long!

Met an American guy last night and we were discussing this. He was steadfast that the solution is not gun control but the issue is crazy people and the US government aren't doing enough to help the crazy people.

That's a common theme here after something like this. I suspect it's mainly gun lobbyist sorts trying to deflect from the issue of gun control.

Which is rather silly to say to be fair as it's rather hard pinpointing who needs help and who doesn't - especially if they don't actively go and see a doctor for a mental disorder.

Did this guy have a background of a mental disorder? Not that I'm aware of from what I've read. This guy was deemed crazy AFTER the shooting, not before it.

Indeed. My car broke down in the middle of the night once between town and my parent's place, about 10km each way. Someone eventually stopped around sunrise and gave me a lift to their turnoff. Turns out he knew my grandfather quite well.

There are crazy people everywhere. While there should be help and assistant for people with mental issues, the revenge killing or taking the frustration down by shooting or killing other is mainly due to ease of access of guns. If guns were inaccessible to general public, we'd have such incident happen a lot less frequently.
