If we have a top goal scorer up front, his risk taking will result in more wins than draws/losses.
The problem is we don't have one. So when he pulls off a ridiculous pass it doesn't mean anything but when he loses the ball all eyes are on him.
Put KdB in this team and he won't look as good as he is at City. That's the truth. Players like KdB, David Silva, Mata (Chelsea version) and Bruno will look twice as good when they have a top forward to finish off the chances. Bruno at least contributes quite a lot of goals too.

I couldn't agree more. Bruno at his best was when he had a fully motivated Cavani and a Greenwood on the receiving end of his risk-taking passes. Once we sign a centre forward with good movement and finishing, Bruno's assists will return to the sort of numbers we saw in the 20/21 season.

He's trash.

He's actually one of my personal litmus tests or one of the "how well do you know football? "

He's absolutely trash. Incredibly disruptive and often a liability.
Glad you don't manage United then. What a dingbat of a post.

One of United's most important players. Without him, we create almost nothing. At it is, we don't score many goals looking at our goal difference. Glad he is a mainstay in the team and the main Captain.

Players look up to him. He is grounded and not flashy. An excellent signing till now.

Imagine posting this about one of worst footballers to ever play for United and then typing the above, it’s a good litmus test for I’m a bias as feck Dutchman with not a scooby doo…

I've got so much respect for DVB. Proper United player.

He's been abused, treated like utter shit yet he came on and fought like a lion.

United haven't been exactly underperforming in front of the goal since Bruno came, quite the opposite actually.

KDB, Bernardo Silva and David Silva aren't better players just because of their stats.

Can’t be stated enough that he often has similar pass completion stats to the incredible KdB also.

I’m amazed that Villa away wasn’t a massive fecking eye opener for folk. We’ve also seen Eriksen moved into the 10 role on a few occasions now and he appears no way near as affective.

Bruno on the wings is wank mind, but that’s on the management.

ETH played Donnie instead of Bruno. If people needed that game to figure out that Bruno is much better than Donnie I would think they didnt watch us before that match.

Bruno has massive issues. But as you say its when he is played on the wing, or if Ronaldo is playing. When playing as a 10 he offers a lot to the team.

Don’t think that any sane person wants DVB over Bruno.

To be fair, KDB would tailor his game to give it away less, he does that for Belgium to my eye (though the stats suggest only a slight improvement) but my guess is he gives the ball away more hitting ambitious through balls and crosses than screwing up link play like Bruno.

But yeah, if Ten Hag can identify the right partner for Bruno - as it's tough to say he's had that here - and get him, we could see Bruno get back to his best without the team needing to be built around him as a purely counter-attacking #10 with tons of space to create. Rashford is a better player with Martial as a 9 to link up with and obviously Valencia and Rooney did well together, so if we can find a 9 who brings out the best in Bruno he should improve. Mata and him looked like they might have chemistry, but that was with both in attacking midfield.

He sort of is our Coutinho for Liverpool figure in that he should probably be sold to Atletico Madrid, PSG or Juventus for say 100M and we let De Gea, Maguire and Fred go to shift wages and we just hand Ten Hag 300M this summer to buy a #9, #10, CM, RB, CB and GK and considering the RB should only cost about 20-25M and the keeper maybe 40M or so, that leaves about 60M per position and that should be enough for Ten Hag to buy damn near anyone he likes who isn't already at a massive club.

He's one of our better players, but he's probably more valuable under a different manager and in a different style. My guess is that Ten Hag likes his effort/running and professionalism and end product and if that sort of thing happens it would be in the summer of 2024 or 2025 and not this coming summer. Too big a change when he's one of only 7 players clearly in the first XI next season (Antony, Bruno, Eriksen, Casemiro, Dalot, Shaw, Lisandro) since Varane and Martial have constant injury issues, though to be fair LW is fine with Garnacho, Sancho and Rashford competing and rotating.

The other similar option I can see would be to sell Sancho as we have Garnacho and Rashford at LW and use the money on fixing 1 or 2 of the above 6 major needs, but Sancho's value is at an all-time low and Bruno's isn't and Sancho is 22 to Bruno's 28, though that would be a massive risk as Bruno has obviously been a far more productive player for us, and again we have better options at LW than as a 10.

If we sign Frenkie De Jong and can push Eriksen to the 10 role, I absolutely wouldn't rule out us selling Bruno and just buying a cheaper #10 that Ten Hag likes to back up Eriksen, with Eriksen backing up De Jong and we're just picking 3 players for 2 spots. Bellingham would be ideal as he wouldn't leave us without any powerful running in midfield like we saw when VDB played ahead of Eriksen against Villa, but we're not getting him and Frenkie and probably not getting either sadly. Maybe Milenkovic-Savic as he's big and powerful and can play as a 10 or more of an 8 if we went 4-3-3 when De Jong doesn't play or even play all 3 when Casemiro sits.

How many pages did you go back to find that?

Because I've gone back 25 and can't find a thing.

And do you mind telling me what year that was too?

Cos I'll bet it was from 2+ years back.

We create absolutely feck all when he’s not playing (Villa) or shifted out to the right (Fulham) but yeah he’s definitely shit.

Pathetic. You didn't even post the full quote.

You went through 28 pages of my post history and didn't even provide the complete context.

I've got so much respect for DVB. Proper United player.

He's been abused, treated like utter shit yet he came on and fought like a lion. He could have easily downed tools and put in a lethargic performance but he was zooming around all the place.
The post commenting on his attitude and enthusiasm during a time the team had downed tools.

Embarrassing antics.

His work rate alone gets him in the team - he'll run back further than the full backs! He might not be having the same effect now as when he arrived but you'd want the team to be more balanced wouldnt you?

I'm certainly not as good as you when it comes to spouting utter trash and selectively quoting one's post in a pathetic manner.
I saw your condescending post about your own personal litmus test (if anyone’s rates Bruno they don’t know football ) and thought, “I swear this guy constantly chats utter drivel, I bet with that username the same guy spouting this condescending shite thought DvB was the dogs doodars not long ago”.

Then I searched “DvB & @DutchCruijff” and 2 seconds later discovered that in November 2021 you still thought Bruno was shite and that Donny was a “proper United player”.

You make as many mistakes as the rest of us, probably more, I’ve often massively misjudged players, but I don’t then pretend to know better than everyone else with my own litmus tests. Some self reflection eh pal?

Aaaaaaaand he hits ignore  Safe to say he was Frosty after all. Clearly doesn’t like being shown up.

Just look at the weight of his passes for Portugal's 2nd & 3rd goals today and try explaining why we will never win the league with him in our team. We're lucky to have Bruno. The number of chances he creates per game coupled with his work rate is not easily replaceable and is something we shouldn't even consider getting rid of.

Embarrassing this Thread.

Majority on here criticising his pass completion and ball retention clearly just expect professional football to be like FIFA, press a button and find a player.

Bruno has been one of the most creative players in the PL with KDB & Trent who also give the ball away on multiple occasions as trying to unlock an opposition defence.

Shall we continue picking DVB in his spot for the rest of the season? Went so well the last time...

Forgot Bruno was the only one playing football for United.

Bet half of you pull yourselves off when he misplaces a pass so you can post about it on here.

Don't think Bruno is the problem. He can be a good squad option or even a first 11 in a winning team.

Even at Man City, Bruno might be able to do a good job at the centre.

I'm excited to see him again with Ronaldo gone, think it'll benefit him.
It seems like Ronaldo is bringing out the worst of him for some reason. He makes decisions he otherwise shouldn´t when Ronaldo is on.
Absolute quality without him on the pitch.

And i still haven´t got a scooby what the intentions were from OP with this thread :)

Yeah same.

Obviously he's done well in the opening 2 games for Portugal with Ronaldo, but I think Bruno needs quicker players ahead of him generally, and to get forward more himself.

Where is KdB in the world cup? the one player we wanted Bruno to be.
Apparently Bruno doesn't turn up in big competitions and big games.

Forget that he has 4 G/A in 2 games at the WC.

I struggle to believe that a player who can score, assist, create chances, press and is a leader is not good at football...

I cannot make sense of how some fans view football.

Must we keep bumping this thread? (Irony accepted) It was trash when it was first posted let alone now.
We have seen the team without Bruno and it wasn’t pretty. He has proven his worth. Get behind the guy!
