Has Fergie ever got it wrong when signing British players for large fees?
Hargreaves ? But, i guess we got the injuries part wrong there rather than footballing.

We might be paying his wages?
now that would be silly.

I d say we have the deal done for him to link up with the United squad in the summer but he stays on loan there with his wages picked up by CP.

What I do hope for is him to remain injury free until may.
remember what happened to Ruud!

I think that's cause whomever they loaned him out to where his third club that season.
Not if he hasn't played for the initial club. Didn't Chelsea loan Courtois and De Bruyne ?

I don't think Palace's version can be right. Isn't there a rule about signing a player and loaning him out in the same window? I remember Lukaku falling foul of that at one stage after joining Chelsea. Or is that to do with the number of clubs you play for?
You can't play for 3 clubs in the space between transfer windows IIRC. Lukaku had played for Anderlecht and then Chelsea stupidly put him on in the last few minutes of a game, therefore ruining a chance of a loan.

Fair enough. Let's just say I was completely right and leave it at that.

You've got to feel for Carrick, 6 seasons as a first choice midfielder, 3 UCL finals including one win, 4 Premier League Medals and a League Cup and still no song. This fella hasn't even trained with us yet and he's got about 5.

Fratton Park, play up Pompey!
Confirmed!

Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Wilfried Zaha have reached an agreement for the player to join Manchester United in July 2013.

The player is having a medical in Manchester today (Friday 25 January).

There will be no further comment by any party until Wilfried joins United in July 2013.

I'm glad it's done, and I'm glad that little tidbit is in there. Might let poor Ian Holloway answer some other questions at his press conferences other than "What's the latest with Zaha?".

Even though I say I'm glad, I still have no idea how good the kid actually is, just his reputation. Might need to start watching some Palace games.

We asked Wilfried where he wanted to be
He said Fergie can't you see?
Wanna be famous, a star on the wing
wanna hear the Stretford End sing

Fergie went to sign Zaha
Cos he's gonna be a star
Fergie went to sign Zaha
Now Wilfried we love you

Beep beep beep beep yeah!

Only 20, his prosepcts look good
he can play with either foot
Beats defenders time after time
Then he's flying up the line...

Fergie went to sign Zaha
Cos he's gonna be a star

Now Wilfried we love you

Beep beep beep beep yeah!

On loan to Palace, couldn't start right away
It's alright cos we all know he can play.
Came from London, now a Manc at heart
Tearing defences apart

Fergie went to sign Zaha
Cos he's gonna be a star

This is exactly the sort of thing we laugh at RAWK for.

Now stop it!

Exciting buy. Spoken to a few mates who follow clubs in the Championship and all say the same, Zaha is comfortably the best player in the league & has huge potential.

Only 20 so hopefully we can really prosper here!

It's tongue in cheek you lunatic!

It's still better than most of the shite sung at old Trafford these days by the way.

I prefered Samabachan's thread...

Anyway, I think this will be a good signing for us... though I think I'd prefer it if we could start using him straight away.

Give him 2 years in United and he should be fully ready to become a Premiership star.

All he need is games and experience.

HELLO
Delighted with this transfer, we could field a very good 23 and under team;

Welbeck Henriquez Zaha
Powell Cleverley Kagawa
Fabio Jones Smalling ClonedFabio

Bloody good all-English team we'd have as well, presuming Scholesy leaves and Rio doesn't. Nine of them are full internationals.

Great signing, hopefully this lad has a very bright future with us. SAF rarely gets it wrong, so I'm extremely excited about this.

Hopefully he can also fire Palace to promotion now!

Hope, We Lose
Bit confused here, our site suggests that we've agreed a deal to be completed in the summer (ala Smalling) whereas theirs states it's immediate and he'll be going back on loan. I guess it doesn't really matter.
Apparently its not possible to agree a pre-contract with football league clubs. So we are signing him (hence medical now) and loaning him back

How and where will we play him? He's used to playing over 40 games a season for Palace but will probably play less than 20 when he comes over. Hope he has the patience and drive to succeed. Other young players like Powell have hardly seen any playing time and are probably still developing under United guidiance.

Took me a little while to warm up to this signing but I'm excited now. He has more potential than other young winger/strikers on our books and I look forward to seeing him make the most of his chances. Fergie clearly believes in his ability.

I think we should go with what I posted earlier in the other thread.

That's the way,
Zaha, Zaha!
I like it,
Zaha, Zaha!
This chant is just perfect.

Might be our last medical at Bridgewater.

Girl on his t-shirt looks like Imogen Thomas. Might be awkward if he bumps into Giggs.
Aiming to settle in straight away by showing his appreciation of the old guard's conquest? Great work- liking this guy straight away - certainly does his research.

Considering how shit our wings looked this season, he would get plenty of games.
