TH: Ten Hag

His first name just sounds like a South African telling people to vote.

I hope Warthog is a squad option only and Martial picks it up.
Only two things Martial will pick up: injuries and wages.
He didn't pick it up for years and you think he will now?
Soon as Weggy (will not say it again) is ready to play, Martial can keep sulking and looking mysterious on the bench.

Technique wise what is he like? Is he on the Niall Quinn end of the tall players technique scale or more Peter Crouch?

Has to have decent technique at the end of the day. Look at Elanga for example, willing runner, worlds hard, good attitude etc but he simply ain't up to it technique wise. If he has decent technique on top of being great at pressing i.e. a hard worker then no reason not to be happy with this deal.

Excuse me
Can I have the attention of the Caf
For one second

Hi Caf!
Do you like strikers?
Wanna see me stick nine yard shots in the net and not sky it?
Wanna cross to me and do exactly the opposite of what Martial did?

He’s got more experience playing in the premier league than let’s say Messi, Benzena, you or I.. but yeah, that goal return isn’t great but part of me thinks that’s partly due to the fact he was playing for Burnley.

"Experience" means nothing if you were shit. Casemiro had no experience playing in EPL but he is our best player right now. I am not saying WW will be shit for us (we are much better side than Burnley) and I of course hope he will do well for us, but citing his experience in EPL when he was horrible, is laughable. You don't seriously think WW is even close to Messi or Benzema, just because they never played in EPL.

Rashford - Wout - Antony

Garnarcho - Martial - Sancho

If we get Sancho back, that's some decent depth.. Elanga/Pellestri around too if they dont go out on loan.

Not technically true - Experience of doing a bad job at one place can often help you do a better job at another place.

I’ve been saying it since last season,
“Forget Haaland, we need to sign Weghorst!”

He played for a dogshit burnley side that got relegated. We've had strikers hit similar numbers playing for us already.

It really isn't the same.

I think it is a zero risk move and I like what he brings. Now we have a target man to hold the ball up and brings other players into play. He can add a defensive presence to corners and set pieces. He may not be a poacher that brings us goals but he adds a different dimension to our play. He can score zero goals for all I care if we keep wining.

I wouldn't rule out him being a good enough fit and us not having money in the summer so just signing him for like 10M and maybe we send a good footballing team in Burnley a loanee they can use, since they play good football (under a Belgian coach who was at City) now.

Wouldn't shock me if he does well enough that Ten Hag decides to wait a year on an expensive #9 and we sign say De Jong, a new CB if Maguire leaves and a RB and that's it for the summer, and keep the money and hope a top striker wants to join us in 2024, though honestly we're doing so well and have the spot open so maybe by the summer, if we get a CL place, someone like Vlahovic or someone who really breaks out over the next 4 months pushes for a move to us. Is there a better place for a quality #9 to sign for than us? Barca, City, Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal all are more settled there and have young talent. We have Martial and a loanee in Weghorst.

But yeah, if he can outplay Martial - and that's certainly possible, as he's not a star but he'd have a few more than 2 in 30 for France from headers alone - then maybe he signs here permanently and we focus the money elsewhere. It's reasonably likely that cover for Eriksen and Casemiro is the issue causing Ten Hag the most worry, and that might take 80M+ to solve in the form of a De Jong or Enzo.

I'm looking forward to this. Surely going to score a header or two.

Ten Hag turned PL flop Haller into a goalscoring machine, so I think he'll be able to play to Wethorse's strengths and squeeze some goals from him.

He had 6 months playing in a relegation fodder, hoof ball, Sean Dyche team. Probably had no service at all. Left up front on his own to run about like a headless chicken. Erikson will be delivering balls on a plate for him.

Yeah, rashford got 4 in 25 in PL last season. I trust ten hag, have no reason not to so far

This will be taken out of context even if I say they aren't similar players and he's nowhere near the same level, but purely from a posture/physical playing similarity, he looks a bit like RVN on TV in how he moves. Wout van Nisrelrooy
