If they haven't had many chances then what makes you think they should replace Ibra ?
Pogba has taken some very good freekicks for us this season. Hasn't scored but he should be taking more.

I feel like Pogba is better on free kicks even though Zlatan has scored more so far, Zlatan has the mildest touch.

How many would you expect him to score ?
It's not so much how many i expect a player to score. More based on the quality of free kicks vs the amount a player has taken.

A player could take 20-30 free kicks, and put them slightly wide, slightly over or the keeper makes great saves and only have 1-2 goals. Ibra for as good as he has been in pretty much every other area has been on almost every free kick we've had this season. He's probably taken 40-50 free kicks but bar Sunday they've generally been poor. Time for someone else to have a go is all i'm saying.

Have a feeling this is more of a negotiating tactic from Zlatan and his camp. He knows that we will invest heavily again next season, and we will have a bigger chance of winning the league (and to a lesser extent the CL). Him retiring as a PL champion or European champion would be a fairytale ending for him.

Only reason to leave would be family issues (couple of reports about this wife being unhappy in Manchester).

I'm curious what this is based on ? Is he considered some sort of free kick specialist ?
His free kicks seem to get over the wall and end up closer to the goal with higher frequency than Ibra's. At least that's my impression, it's hard to find a relevant stat. He's hit the frame of the goal twice as far as I recall (Hull and Tottenham).

While Ibra seems to horribly sky many of them and hit the wall more. When he steps up to take one I find myself thinking "here comes another wasted free kick", whereas I look forward to Pobga's with more anticipation.

I hope that makes sense?

I agree but in that moment against Southampton I wanted Zlatan to take it over Pogba. Zlatan is able to stand up when the occasion calls for it much more than Pogba right now.

This is why we need more gay footballers.

I agree. This isn't a criticism of Ibra at all but this thread has again gone into hyperbole mode.

Other strikers could and will score plenty of goals in this United team. All talk of how will we cope if he leaves is getting silly.

If he got injured right now I think there'd be a problem. Could Rashford slot in having had little game time up front and being short on goals. It's very doubtful.

Long term though we'll be fine.
Of course we'll be fine long term, we always are. Whether it's VDS retiring, Scholes retiring, or any other player leaving, we always find a replacement, but that shouldn't diminish the importance of the player while they are here. To say that Zlatan hasn't been monumental for us this season on the pitch and off it would be IMO silly. Him and Mourinho have brought back an attitude where 2nd best is absolutely never good enough, and that is extremely important to have for a team of our stature.

I don't remember ever hearing of a King Mildest?! Instead of turning everything to gold, did he perhaps just make them more gentle or something?

I can't be bothered looking on my phone but as I was locked in a debate with wr8 the other day you can defo have this one.

Diego Costa would be on 30 for us now apparentely. (This was after Zlatan's hat-trick)

So we're saying that the club flying at the top of the league with far more goals scored than us (and less conceded by just 1) are creating less chances than we do????

Our Player of the Month for February has a special message for #MUFC fans...

 Classic Ibra: "Keep voting for me, because that is the right thing to do"...

Seven goals in seven games, including the winner in the #EFLCup final - no wonder @Ibra_official is our Player of the Month for February!

Mourinho - 'Ibrahimovic deserves a Ballon d'Or'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic deserves to win a Ballon d'Or, according to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

In an exclusive interview with MUTV, the boss admits he is perplexed as to why the 35-year-old has never won the world's best-player prize and suggests an incredible end to an already successful season should propel United's top goalscorer into the reckoning for the 2017 accolade.

Surprisingly, Ibrahimovic has yet to even make the top three in the voting, with ex-Reds forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona wizard Lionel Messi filling the top two slots for the past six years. However, the Swedish striker's wonderful introduction to English football will deserve recognition, if he can help bring more silverware to Old Trafford this season.

"I think what he has done is amazing," Mourinho told MUTV. "The number of goals he’s scored, the two matches at Wembley, the trophies, what he is in the group, and what he means. I think he is absolutely phenomenal. No more words.

"I just gave an interview to a big French magazine with big responsibilities in these big awards, the FIFA Golden Ball and so on. I know about Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. I know what they are and what they are doing but I can’t believe this big man, with the career he’s having, I can’t believe he’s never won it.

"So why not this season, if he can do something special? If he can win more trophies, reach Stockholm and the Europa League final. Why not this man, who is 35 years old, to get that deserved award?"

But he still can't break into the top 10, on this forum.

Couple more games like that and he might enter this elite company:

It sort of makes a mockery of the rating system on this forum.
So, is the aim of football to score goals or ... something else?

How has he got a 6.3 season average rating
Because he hasn't been in top form in every game he has played this season, especially in the first months when he was finding his feet in a new league he was nowhere near the player he has been for the last couple of months.

Still way too low. If you go on the premise that a 6 rating is average/decent/to be expected (granted, I'm assuming most people think this), then a 6.3 for Ibra is ridiculous. I can only think this comes down to our fans having way too higher expectations from him.

Another problem is that different people use different ratings as the average/decent/to be expected rating. I personally use 5 as that rating so my ratings are on average one point below the ones you give. I would suggest you don't take the ratings given to our players on here to seriously as there are a lot of factors that can make them differ from your views of a certain player.

That doesn't explain that this forum believes he's not in the top 10 performers for us this season. Which is beyond ridiculous.

I think the problem is people gave him unfairly low ratings when he missed some sitters in our run of draws, because fans are fickle. Zlatan got the blame, even though he actually performed reasonably well.

I agree with that. I myself sometimes give players to low ratings after a loss or a frustrating draw because I usually do the ratings straight after the game when I'm still emotional. Zlatan certainly has been affected by this during his goal draught in the autumn and if we still would have won those games I probably would have given him a higher rating for the same performance.

Worst United player on the pitch so far. Should probably rest him against Rostov although it won't happen.

There's been about five chances where one of our players could have layed him up for a tap in and they've fecked it up. He's getting frustrated.
He also missed a few chances, so he should moan at himself also.

He shouldn't be throwing his arms around anyway it's negative.
