42m Euros is only reported by goal.com. All the other newspapers are reporting 33m Euros or 35m Euros.

From seeing that i can't understand why Tottenham didn't make a move for Sahin.

Levy's a fantastic businessman.

Got more than he's worth, and forged a football and commercial partnership with Real.

Spurs not trying to get Sahin part of Modric deal could end up being the same blunder we made not trying to get Sneijder as a part of Ronaldo deal

Giving yourself four days to replace your best player is not good football business.

Interesting the wording of the deal from Levy as well, sounds like Spurs have agreed to becoming a farm club for the capital club termed 'partnership' - I imagine that includes taking on loanees from RM

In some ways, Levy is a brilliant businessman, but, in a footballing sense, his brinkmanship often leaves Spurs in the lurch as he often leaves no room to replace quality with quality. That, or he'll not allow all of the money used from one transfer to be put straight back into the team.

He may bolster Spurs' books with his antics, but he's cost them a proper go at 4th place more than once, with this season looking like being another unless they can get some quality in before the window closes.

Exactly. If you're in the money making business, Levy's done well. In football terms, Spurs may use the money well for the long term, but they've taken a hit short term. And short term could mean this season and, if they don't make it to the CL, beyond that as well.

They might have another go at Moutinho.

His departure was inevitable. I think the Sigurdson guy is the replacement.
Nah Sigurdsson is not a centre mid, he's more an alternative to VDV as he likewise plays off the striker, against Newcastle that is where he played.

Could see them going for Dembele.

They a replaying 4-2-3-1. they just need another holding player. RVDV should be given the reins of the team
Yup. However I'm not sure the trio of VDV, Bale and Lennon are creative enough. The latter two are out and out wingers who rely on their pace which really leaves just VDV to do all the creative passing. I rate both Livermore and Sandro, but I feel they need a bit more creativity in their side.

That is why I say let them sign a holder in the Xabi Alonso mould. They should really chase after Moutinho or Mvilla even. Their interest in Willian is a good thing

It was, which makes it all the more pointless to drag it on as long as he has. He's left his manager hamstrung yet again. Good from a business perspective, terrible from a footballing one.

Sigurdsson is very obviously not intended to be Modric's replacement. He's a very different type of player, with very different role.

€42 millon...for a squad player?
He won't be a squad player, he'll be the the first choice in midfield. Modric is so under rated by some people. Modric is a special player. MAdrid don't have anyone in his class in CM. There is no point arguing about these things now, as it'll just go back and forth, but this thread will still be here at the end of the season, so can be bumped then. My prediction is that he'll be seen as the best CM in La Liga.

I'm not sure if you forgot but there is a team in la liga that has probably the three best center midfielders in the world alone. You seriously believe that by the end of the season modric will be better then xavi, iniesta or fabregas? Or even xavi Alonso for that matter? He's a fantastic player no doubt but the barca players are on a whole other level.
