Be good if Real Madrid issued a statement saying they weren't interested in Suarez but were after Bale.

Perez already released this:

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez claims Tottenham forward Gareth Bale was "born" to play for the club.

Perez also spoke about Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who said he would not be able to turn down a move to the Spanish capital.

"Suarez is a great player and I am sure all in the world would want him. I like him and others too, but it does not always fit."

He'd be great at Madrid. And they like players with flair too. Only problem is, they seemed to think Mourinho disgraced them with his behavior quite often. Wonder what the reaction to Suarez would be.

He is harming them more than he helps. The way he has acted, you have to be a desperate club to still have him in the squad. The damage will be felt even after he is gone.

Liverpool should be very happy to sell him and elated if they get a high fee.

They shouldn't though, he's still their best player by an absolute mile and there's no way they'd be able to get in another player of his quality as a replacement. he may be a total cnut but they need him to progress.

Good point, Real Madrid will try to build a better image now that Mourinho has fecked off, signing Suarez and all the antics and drama following would feck everything up.Imagine Suarez vs Barca ...

So true. I can just picture Busquetts rolling all round the pitch grabbing his forehead, nose, shin, forearm and black grandmother.

Does he want to leave though?

SKY breaking news - agent says he is happy and has no plans to leave this summer.

I read that he had a 40 mill release clause. Nobody would pay that much for him.

Always a bit ominous when they say something like "this summer" I think Aguero did the same recently, Ronaldo did it with us as well and I'm sure Bale has said similar in the past. It basically means "I'll probably stay for a year then feck off if nothing has changed." It's alright for Liverpool if he does stay because they get 1 more year out of him but it's all a bit inevitable that he will leave sooner rather than later.

out of interest how long of his ban is left? Also does it apply in other countries (i.e. if he went to Spain is he banned over there?) Didn't he leave Ajax still serving a ban?

True - you can never tell, I believe he misses the first 6 games next season including 1 Carling Cup game. I don't think it applies in other countries but not certain.

I actually said on here several times I thought he would stay next season but leave after that.

You underestimate Real Madrid.
They will pay top whack for Bale and ANother. Then they will come to us stating they've run out of money, and would we be happy with £15million plus 3 Nunez's.

If there is a £40million clause it might serve as a double edged sword. We are open to lose Suarez because of it, but pay that amount and no less or get lost.

The Real Madrid fans are unenthusiastic to put it mildly.

Basically he comes at the bottom of all the "who should we buy" opinion polls.

They've tried him against Falcao, Cavani, Alguero, Lewandowski amongst others. I assume it's his personality they don't rate.

Here's one where he's competing against himself with the question, "Would he be a good signing for Real Madrid?" 72% say no - the rest are Barca fans

Suarez staying (because Madrid don't actually want him that badly) and stinking up the Liverpool squad by sulking will be hilarious.

Agree with this. Club rivalry and personality disorder issues aside, Suarez is one of the more talented players of this generation. Liverpool's current performance status is way below a player of his quality. He would quickly become an elite global footballer if he was in a top European side.

Liverpool have no chance replacing him with a like for like player, no matter how many millions Madrid might pay them.

But I thought it was only the evil British media and public who hated him.

Suarez has clearly wanted out for awhile: He bit someone to get out of Ajax, he bit someone to get out of Liverpool.

Suarez will blame it on the media hounding him out of the country and the Liverpool fans will buy it but this is a trick he's pulled before, those who don't love him will see through it.

So, Marca actually reckons there has been contact between the two clubs? And even whisper about a four year deal? Could still be wind and bollocks, of course, but the rumours are getting more specific - whatever that means.

They think there's been contact between Suarez and Madrid with personal terms agreed, and that Liverpool would expect his full release clause to let him go. They also say that "deal" was reached weeks ago, but that Madrid haven't done anything more.

My guess - he's being kept on hold pending some other deal happening or not, or maybe a word from the new manager. However I suspect Perez hadn't realised how hostile Madrid fans were when he did the negotiating and that, "a few weeks ago," is probably prior to the biting incident.

Liverpool have learned from their mistakes it seems. They no longer sell their best player - and thus highlighting to the world how much money they have to spend - and then try to buy a replacement. They're getting their business done early this summer whilst clubs don't know they have a spare £40 million lying about. They're not naive gobshites anymore!

P.S The Scousers are apoplectic at the notion of Suarez being sold for a "pittance", i.e. £40 million. They bought him for circa. £23 million so a profit of £17 million is not to be sniffed at. Considering the baggage that he brings and controversy that he courts, they should be glad to get anything remotely near £40 million (a fee not much less than what Falcao, a much superior player, went for).

Claiming he's worth upwards of £50 million is almost as laughable as the clowns here who rated Rooney at £60 million+ a few months back!

When you spend your money on shit players, you can't believe you are comming any closer to the CL spot. They are buying the second and third string player because they can't compete for the best anymore.

They should spend 15 to 20 mill on two players, not 7,5 to 10 on four. I have a couple of Liverpool supporting mates that are going mental over the players they are bringing in. No one to make them better, just players to keep them where they are now.

That does make sense. Perez would be mindful of the fans' attitude at the moment, you'd think - what with the election and all. Could be the end of the whole business - would Perez sanction spending forty mill on a player the grand majority of Real supporters don't care for? Seems unlikely when you look at it from a certain perspective.

Apart from over-priced English players (see Johnson, Downing, Henderson or Young) in the £20 million bracket, who can Liverpool realistically attract to Anfield? Nobody on the continent in that price range would consider going there so they are left with purchasing these £7 - 12 million youngsters who have a lot to prove. Ultimately, they are a huge gamble as they don't the assurances an experienced player would, but what choice do Liverpool have?

FSG are on record as saying purchasing youngsters relatively cheaply with the possibilities of large sell-on fees is their new business model. Liverpool fans can forget about forking £20 million plus on experienced or marquée signings for a long time.

He's given another interview a short while ago. In this one he has come out and said he has no other option but to leave Liverpool under the circumstances.

Suarez Interview 30/05/2013

"It is clear I must leave. There is no reason for me to stay, especially under such conditions."

RAWK will explode...
