Is this their 4th ~30 million signing of the summer? 3 of them are improvements on their starting lineup to be fair, and will definitely give them more depth, but I think they could have gotten some better players for the money their spending.

If City go 4-3-3 next season where do Silva and Nasri fit in? Genuine question as I imagine the front 3 will be Aguero+Jovetic+Another and the middle 3 you'd expect to be central midfielders.
Jovetic may be an option wide but it isnt his best positon imo. From a United point of view I'd love to see him wasted out wide :D I guess they did do that with Balotelli.

I expect City will play one player in the hole and one striker like with Tevez and Aguero. That would be Jovetic's best position, Aguero could do it if he's playing in combination with Dzeko or Negredo.

Well that's just it, are they going to play with wingers or inside forwards? They signed Navas, who I gather is more of a traditional winger, but Jovetic seems more the withdrawn striker type from what I know (which is little), so I assume they're going to have a fairly fluid formation if they want to get the best out of those players.

Is Dzeko going to get another season then?

They might not even be first choice for all we know. Jovetic is basically Rooney, can play up top, in the hole, can do a job wide but really he's a creative striker

Navas is basically a skillful Aaron Lennon, wide right winger who can create but doesnt get on the scoresheet much

He is not a bad striker. Mancini just used him sparingly just like we did with Berbatov. I havent seen enough of Negredo to comment on if he is better than Dzeko.

He's certainly not a bad striker. Just didn't seem to have much of a future at City from what I could tell. Pellegrini might have different plans for him than Mancini did though.

City looking like favourites at the minute. Would be very proud of their purchases if i was a City fan. Kind of strange this Mourinho factor has people all up Chelsea's ass.

I really dont think he is. Surprisingly Dzeko scored the most goals on breaks in the league last season, doubt Negredo will score more than 1 :D

Why would City fans be "very proud of their purchases"? Seems a very strange thing to say.
He's quite clearly just making the point that he thinks City fans will be happy with their business so far.

Moyes will be expected to deliver instant results despite city spending yet another hundred million in the summer.

Stan Collymore having a lot to say (out of his arse) on twitter about this. Makes fun reading, he's pretending he knows all about Jovetic while belittling the opinions of James Richardson and Gab Marcotti. Called Jovetic "Dzeko mk 2" and then backtracked when people pointed out they're not similar players. Fun.

He's not. Dzeko hasn't got a big chance with City. Seems like if he scores he stays and if he doesn't he's immediately benched. A lot to do with trying to keep Tevez's and Balotelli's toys on the pram.

It's not like City needed to invest much. They've got a better squad now imo then when they were champions. And Jovetic will only add to that strength. Can't underestimate Tevez's performances for them. He was a cnut and most definitely did not help with the morale. Personally I think they're better off with Negredo and Jovetic along with Aguero and Dzeko than they were with Balotelli and Tevez. I also think Pellegrini is a better manager.

At the moment, including Jovetic, I don't know which team is better, Chelsea or City. Both teams have a stronger squad and a better manager than last season whilst ours is stalemate with our 2nd best player's future still up in arms and no SAF.

I rate Dzeko quite highly, for the record. Not sure if my post got that across. I'd give him games as the central striker, but I haven't seen Negredo play to be fair.

Chelsea haven't really signed anyone who will improve their first team thus far, but their squad is a bit stronger. Not concerned with their signings at the moment though. City's first team was better than ours last season, and now their squad is also currently better. Obviously we haven't made any transfers yet, so this could change.

Another signing of City's that I'm not too worried about. For whatever reason, they're not shopping for the same quality they had done previously.
I think you may come to regret that statement after next season. I think every one of their signings will make an impact. the thing I immediately notice is, they are not superstars, but very talented team players who will provide City with something different. They should also be hungry for the big trophies considering the relative paucity of their medal collections.

They are not flashy signings, just very astute ones. Definitely Pellegrini's influence.

Lets hope that he won't adapt to the PL because if he does, he'll be a fantastic signing for City. Him behind Aguero would be threatening if they both click.

Chelsea have made some good signings. Schwarzer is a good backup to have, van Ginkel is very talented and Schurrle is a player that will improve their squad and give them a different option on the left. De Bruyne and Lukaku are both back from loan spells where they both did very well. Like City their problem wasn't very much with the first team. They played the same players a lot last season.

Our squad was is still very good. We need however an improvement on the first team. Nothing drastic is needed imo unless Rooney leaves. That would change a lot. Still a good month left.

Chelsea still seem overly reliant on Mata for me. You would think, and hope, he doesn't improve on his exceptional one last year. If they buy a quality striker such as Higuain definite title contenders imo. With their current strikers no.

Which is why it would be ludicrous to sell them Rooney.

I've always had a soft spot for Jovetic since I watched him tear Liverpool a new one a few years back. shame he's going to City now. I think he's a really good player.

He was heavily linked with United before he went to Fiorentina, I think Fergie always had an eye on him. Disappointing that he's going to City, but we really don't have a spot for him.

This is the one signing which I'm worried about, he's a very good player and could be their standout player next season. Very Rooney-esque player (Rooney on a good day). The other signings are not anything to write home about and I reckon they've overpaid for a fair few.
