How would Zaha, Nani, Januzaj, Welbeck, Kagawa etc get any game time if Moyes was giving matches to Lingard as well?

Our squad is simply too big. The loan move is better for everyone concerned.
If i can choose, I would play Nani and Zaha on right, Kagawa (Rooney) in the centre, Welbeck (RVP as 1st choice) up front, Januzai and Lingard on the left.

Thankfully you're not the manager then!

His end product during preseason was great but I didn't think he looked top level in his overall play. I really hope he proves me wrong, because 4 goals at Championship level is fecking ridiculous.

What do you mean by top level? As in you think it would be substandard in our team, or that it's simply not as impressive as Januzaj's overall play? If it's the former I completely disagree.I think he did enough in pre-season to suggest he could go down the Cleverley route of being tidy, effective and comfortable without ever being outstanding in the youth teams before impressing for the first team and gradually cementing his place in the squad.

Second highest pass completion at 89% and 4 goals from 5 shots on target.
Not half bad, our Jesse.

More towards the latter tbh, although you obviously don't need to be as creative as Januzaj in order to make it. We were playing against Thai and Japanese teams, but I thought he did little in terms of general play to make me think he could be better than the likes of Eagles, Chadwick or Richardson (all of whom I got excited about when I was younger and less cynical).

I think it's easier to get by as "just" a tidy passer deep in midfield than it would be where Lingard would need to be played. That was my worry in spite of his ability to make some fantastic runs and finish chances.

I have to disagree with you. I think he's a great attacking player who links up really well playing alongside the right players. As you alluded to, he offers those driving runs forward but he's a great little link up player imo and offers a lot going forward.

Jesse is very technically gifted, comfortable on the ball and his link-up play is one of his best attributes. Outside of his goals I thought he looked very comfortable in our first team on tour, not out of place at all. On Rio's tour diary most of the first teamers said he was their player of the tour. I thought he was good all round.

He doesn't really know what a "dry spell" is this season does he? Very impressive debut to score four goals, I look forward to seeing them.

I'm impressed! Definitely extend his loan and we'll see what else he can do. We don't have space for him at the moment but I'd say he's earned a chance in our squad. We should keep him in mind.

Anyone see the game? How was his overall game? Do we think he can make it with our first team. He looks a very intelligent player from the bit I've seen.

Yeah he's certainly got the talent to make it. The only thing is is that he plays in a position we're stacked in (as an attacking midfielder, whether central or out wide.)

Fantastic to wake up and hear the news of his match. Hopefully some more solid performances to come.

I must admit, I was a tad surprised that Moyes didn't give him a chance or two after pre-season. He was one of our best performing players on the tour.

Still, seems to have continued the good form.
and drop who?

So you would sell Young and Valencia to give Januzaj and Lingard route into the team. Fair enough. Not sure Moyes will get rid of Valencia but something will have to give. As has been mention, United are overstocked in the 3 attacking positions behind Van Persie.

When Rooney leaves at the end of the season there will be a slot for Jesse to move in to.

Ideally we'll sell Young and Giggs will retire next season, and rather than buy replacements hopefully Lingard and Januzaj get their chances in the first team more often if they keep performing. Having Valencia and Nani as likely first-choice wingers, with Welbeck/Kagawa as other options in the bigger games is enough. Can't forget Zaha either, I think that mix of youth and experience will be good for the team. These young players look good enough already to me and will only get better.

Regardless, really happy for the lad. Strong chance of making it, hopefully things don't go the way of the last few young talents who I thought would come through for us (Morrison, Pogba etc). He was great in pre-season too, of course.

This all sounds eminently sensible. Plus it'll save money for the world-class CM who we definitely aren't going to not get for a fifth season running.
