It's for the newspapers mate. What's with the 10.30pm embargo for the second part of the conference? Or have I understood that wrong?

Yeah, but there's some stuff we haven't seen/heard that will get released later. It's not usually done like that is it?It's for the newspapers mate.
No playing it safe was appointing Moyes. An honest, hardworking close friend of Fergie's who had managed one club for a decade and who could operate with limited funds. What we need is to catchup with the rest of Europe's elite and it's going to take someone who can shake things up. A bright young manager like Giggs could be the man.Problem is we're in no position now to take any more major risks. It's time for us to try and play it safe, at least for the time being.
Yes. It's for the papers as mentioned. In the aim that people actually buy a newspaper tomorrow to see what he's said to them. He does a piece for the TV channels, like this morning and then he's talked to the newspapers separately.Yeah, but there's some stuff we haven't seen/heard that will get released later. It's not usually done like that is it?
Nope it's the usual protocol.Yeah, but there's some stuff we haven't seen/heard that will get released later. It's not usually done like that is it?
Especially if you put Rene or someone alongside him.If we can't get our first choice in as the next manager, is it really the worst idea to give Giggs a try? Presuming it goes well between now and the summer?
This is exactly what the club needs imo. Something fresh and new and with a point to prove, and with an attitude to just go out believing we can beat teams rather than nullify them. That's what we haven't had for years. There needs to be knowhow to go with it, but supposing Giggs, with the likes of Scholes, Nevfille, etc. have that? It ticks more boxes than most other candidates would other than the very top choices.
He's got no management experience...except for working and being around Sir Alex Ferguson for 20+ years, at Manchester United, which is arguably better experience than 95% of other candidates will ever have.
We have an utterly meaningless game against Norwixh on Saturday and yet I'm looking forward to it more than I have any game for about 3 years, just because it feels like it'll be my football team again, if that makes sense.
I wouldn't get rid of any of them. Not this summer anyway.Especially if you put Rene or someone alongside him.
I am not too worried about his lack of experience, Moyes had loads and look how bloody dull he was.
My concern is that would Giggs be ruthless enough to get rid of the dross of which there is plenty, some being his friends, Carrick, Evra, Rio and the like.
With most of the top candidates ruling themselves out and if he has a positive impact then who knows..
King Kenny actually won the league in his first stint with Liverpool with no managerial experience behind him.It is hilarious seeing the CAF coming down with 'King Kenny Syndrome'.
Appointing Giggs at this point in time would be incredibly stupid. He has no managerial experience at all. He looked nervous in that interview FFS!
The Glazer's tried the romantic route by honouring Fergie and appointing Moyes, a good solid British manager in the tradition of Manchester United. They will not be so stupid as to let a romantic ideal rule an important business decision again.
Giggs might make a great manager one day and he might not. For now I am sure that the Glazer's will appoint a manager who has already made his name at the top level.
I don't think he could have stayed at Utd all his career if he didn't have some of these traits.I think Giggs is far tougher than a lot of people think. Beneath that boyish exterior is a determined, and yes, sometimes ruthless winner. I see quite a lot of Fergie in him actually. Hardly surprising as was a father figure to all of them.
No word about trying to make it hard for Norwich, rebuilding, ageing squad and that?"It's going to be my philosophy. It's going to be a Manchester United philosophy.
"Passion, speed, tempo, be brave, imagination. Work hard but most of all enjoy it. If you enjoy it, you can express yourself more."
Really like this quote as a whole.
Appointing Moyes was never playing it safe. It was a pretty risky move considering he has never coached in a big club, and never had a success at the level United are playing at. He was truly untested and it was a big gamble to go for him. And it went horribly wrong. No playing it safe was appointing Moyes. An honest, hardworking close friend of Fergie's who had managed one club for a decade and who could operate with limited funds. What we need is to catchup with the rest of Europe's elite and it's going to take someone who can shake things up. A bright young manager like Giggs could be the man.
yeah and what about 'doing enough to get something out of the game' [Moyes]No word about trying to make it hard for Norwich, rebuilding, ageing squad and that?
You and your damn facts!King Kenny actually won the league in his first stint with Liverpool with no managerial experience behind him.
I didn't label him anything. Don't jump to conclusions. And what if we don't lose, don't get heavily scrutinized and instead play great and win all our games with ease? Why is that so ridiculous? He could be a bad manager and he could also be a good one but he shouldn't be labeled either before he's even had a game in charge. That's what is ridiculous for me.
Yup no doubt about it. I won't have Giggs right now. But say, if he assists LVG for a considerable period of time, then I'll have very little hesitation in getting Giggsy in here. You get the feeling that he just gets it.You and your damn facts!
Liverpool were at the level then of a Bayern Munich or Real Madrid today. Giggs is stepping into much more troublesome shoes.
I firmly believe that Giggs would be a very risky appointment. One which we cannot afford at the moment.
Said everything in my thought there (except the boldest part lol... But must say although it still hurts, this week onwards I found there will be life in the summer and the last 4 games seem very important and interesting all of a sudden).First press conference for ages I've actually enjoyed, first game I'm looking forward to for months. This season has been such a major let down but just seeing and listening to Giggsy has given me a massive boost. I don't actually care that we're seventh.
Tearing them apart since 1991. Long may it continue!
Yeah. I even can say, Giggs is going a bit extreme with his conference, just to make it obvious what's going on under MoyesReading between the lines (Giggs, Butt) the shackles have been taken of players.
Giggs is very respected in the world of football. His knowledge of european football should be relatively ample to keep him going and managing.
Best combination for me is Van Gaal and have him appoint Giggs his #2. Van Gaal comes in and fixes the problems with the squad short term, while teaching Giggs and allowing him to get settled ready to take over after Van Gaal goes. I'd be very happy with that myself. It was a good press conference, but are people really suggesting he should be manager permanently just based on that ??
Either the caf has gone mental or people are really underestimating the job of a manager. At this point, even Ole is ahead of Giggs in terms of experience, and I don't think he is ready yet either.
Media handling is only a small part of the manager's job. I think most of our senior players would be good at dealing with the media, but that does not mean they would be good enough to mange us.
Let us get a proven manager for a few years, and then we can assess the situation again later. It would be better if he could go out and manage a club for a while to get a better idea about his talent as a manger.
I think most would agree with you. One for the future though maybe. You and your damn facts!

Yes. He was firm, positive, didn't use the word "try" and dreamy you know. All the makings of a perfect manager even though he has zero managerial experience behind him.It was a good press conference, but are people really suggesting he should be manager permanently just based on that ??

That, imo would be the perfect scenario. It's possibly what we should have done when Fergie's era was coming to an end - have a viable replacement through those latter years.Best combination for me is Van Gaal and have him appoint Giggs his #2. What an anticlimactic post! Why not let every fan around her enjoy the good press conference we have today (one which we haven't had for the last 8 months) and let us praise Giggs and be happy for him, for the club, for the players, for the fans... at least for rest of the season. It was a good press conference, but are people really suggesting he should be manager permanently just based on that ??

And did you see RvP at the training ground laughing with Giggs? Its amazing what he has done. A 10 minute presser was all he did to just lift the morale of the club and the fans. Moyes has 9 months and couldn't do shit about it and it got worse week and week. Just feel so lifted listening to him talk and sometimes that is all players need to here. Really can't wait for the 24 hours to pass for the Norwich game.
