Remember in one his past stints at Barca LVG went straight in and shifted Riquelme out immediately telling him infamously ‘You aren’t my player, I don’t need you here – find yourself a team to go to on loan’.
Stupid move too. Riquelme was one the best midfielders on the planet then. His only problem was his work rate at defending but there wasn't a more complete midfield player in world football at the time other than Riquelme and Zidane. Xavi modeled his entire game after him.

He was brilliant last night as usual. His dictating ability is absolutely top notch and when you think he's just 24.....

Not using wing backs it isnt. Rooney for Adnan is you prefer.
And when wingbacks bomb forward who will defensively cover for them along with screening for the CB's ? Kroos in the 6 slot ? And will Rooney and Mata track their fullbacks back ? See the game vs Italy and how Rooney playing left caused so many problems from the Italy right hand side. Mata has had similar problems too, so if they both are gonna play up front you want to leave them there as much as possible which requires giving them more defensive protection in behind and that Midfield doesn't really. Neither it is one to tiki taka and dominate possession (And even there Busquets as a natural 6 was essential).

Vidal drops back still leaving a back 3?

And to think we were so Kroos. I was tONi my knees hoping we would sign our next Paul Scholes, but alas this Kroos flew away.

I would of loved to see him at United. He understands the pace of any given game and can alter his playing style accordingly. Hopefully Real Madrid chew him up and spit him out, in our direction in a year or two.

Have to trust LvG on this one, if he did indeed pull out of this deal, maybe he saw something in his character whilst he was at Bayern that he didn't like,

I think United just didn't have a chance to get him. There is no way LvG didn't want him.

Toni Kroyce as Steve McManaman called him throughout the Brazil game.

Great player, but even with Khedira gone I fail to see how exactly he fits that side.

Fair enough I just took it on face value that United had a deal set up, and LvG pulled out, probably naive of me to do so but was reported by some reliable sources, indeed that Burt guy from the Telegraph did a piece this week saying it could well be a decision LvG lives to regret, you can only regret it if we had the deal in place to pull out on in the first place.

I don't think van Gaal did imo. Real Madrid have just won the CL with a collection of great players, living in a great City. The One thing Kroos probably understands that he's still ridiculously young for a top level performer. If he has any desire to join United, it will be in a few years time when LvG brings us near the top.

As if Kroos would have picked United over Real.
That is true in some ways, but he will just be another player at Real, if he had come here he would have been top dog, and we would have paid him the same sort of wage, some players would relish that, dunno if Kroos would but some would.

Aye maybe, but too many people are keen to play down the aura of playing for United, we are a massive pull, & Manchester and the surrounding areas aren't that bad.
Re Kroos once Madrid have chewed him up and spat him out not too sure i'd want him.

And I'm not even sure if Real and Barca are finished regarding big signings. We're in for some very exciting Classico's next season.

All day, everyday, and a month on Sundays. Thre isn't many players in today's game you can build a team around, but Kroos is certainly One of them.

That's the viewpoint of a fan. Kroos is driven player who believed he should have been one of Bayern's very highest earners. He'll back himself to get into the Real Madrid team and become a key player. He's not expecting to be 'another player' there by any means.
So being top dog here isn't all that big a deal.

It's not how the best players think, most of the time. But whether it's actually the right move - we'll find out in the future.

nahh, when Real have finished with him they'll be plenty more players about that we can go for.

Direct replacement for Xabi who is on the wane.

If this is true and Madrid do get him then it will be an excellent signing. For years we have been signing too many direct players and when there was no space to play the team suffered. The signing of Alonso, modric and too a certain extent isco and now kroos have been a step away from that and the team is benefitting from it. The team will be more comfortable in possession now and that will help big time vs defensive teams and with Ronaldo, bale and benzema up front the team will always be dangerous on the counter.

Just to be sure:

the quote is bullshit. These guys blatantly lie. Furthermore Beckenbauer wouldnt even know anything about it. He isnt involved anymore.

DFB-journo: Kroos might join Real Madrid after the WC. What does this mean for bayern?
Beckenbauer: As honorary president I would regret, if we lose this worldclass player. There is a life after your football career. For that, the experience to work abroad, for example for a club like Madrid, is valuable.
