Next three games will show what this team is capable off the next few months. Could be 2 wins and 1 loss. Could be 3 losses as well. Absolutely no guarantee that we will get points out of Everton or WB. I am not mad if we lose to Chelsea twice this season, no problem, we can´t be up with the best every year. But wins against the other two would be nice.

There'll be a game this season we score seven or eight. Dunno if it'll be this game, but it might.

I think LvG will be wary of Everton's fullback threat and that Mata vs McCarthy might not be the best choice, I could see us going with this line-up.

It's a strange front 3, ADM doesn't score much goals, although he has two so far, Falcao is yet to score and Januzaj doesn't get that much goals either, somehow you prefer those 3 over RVP.

Two goals in two games now and RVP deserve to start. Why are we changing the formation for Everton again?
Adnan doesn't play, how can he score goals from the bench?

Why do you assume we are going to lose twice against Chelsea this season? I'm pretty confident we could get something from those games - a point or two is not unlikely. Mourinho likes to play it safe and he will be wary of our attacking options. I think he will play similarly to the way he played against City - defend solidly and rarely commit more players forward, with Costa up there alone to bully our inexperienced defense. I think a draw will satisfy both sides. He knows that he will win his easier games, so just not losing against his rivals is going to be enough for the title. I'm not saying we are a rival yet, but this is his style. He would like to win, but not enough so that he risks losing. He knows that at the moment we are very unpredictable, so he will just close shop.

I know for a fact we can take 3 points of Chelsea at home if our players show up, Jose will no doubt park a 18 wheeler truck in his own half and hit us on the break when he can.

As for Everton, they have been awful even worse than us this season (Harder fixtures though), but they ended last season strongly and we did not. This is a MUST WIN game, top 4 as it stands is in our OWN hands, we obviously can't win every game, but Everton at home should be 3 points and moving up the table to 4th.

    I think we should play

    -------------------------De Gea-----------------------
    ---Rafael-----------Jones-----Rojo-----------Shaw---
    ---------------------------Blind------------------------
    ----------------Carrick-------------Herrera------------
    ---------------------------Di Maria---------------------
    ------------------Falcao--------------------------------
    -----------------------------------Van Persie(c)-----------

At least 7 players over 6ft in that lineup, we should be able to bully them easily and our flair players Di Maria, RVP and Falcao should finish them off. Must win game!

Will Jones and Carrick be ready for that game? If so change Herrera and Di Maria and we are good to go. Yes Mata is natural number 10 and logical choice when Rooney can't play but i think Herrera could be better than him for the team. His contribution in defense is just so much better than Mata's.

I predict an easy win 2-0.

Everton is nothing special. Our defense is a problem, but with time they should become more confident in themselves and defend as a cohesive unit.

We'll trash em. They're playing in Russia a few days before this game. Besides, they've not been in the best form either.

Not sure how we should set up for this one

a part of me wants falcao alone, but i dont think we have the players for lets say a 4-2-3-1

I think that the best way to go is like we have played so far, with mata, falcao and rvp up front! We need to score goals and hope our defence holds up

going with a defensive line-up might be good theoretically but less effective and ultimatetly make us lose 1-0 instead of winning but conceding goals

wouldn't be surprised with a 4-2, 4-3 result in our favor! Rvp alone is not optimal and falcao has yet to score! The most important thing though is if Herrera is back in shape and not injured, i think he can be really good against this type of opponent

Smalling, Jones, Fellaini, Carrick near their comebacks. Hope Jones can play CB with Rojo but I don't feel nervy with Paddy doing it again. Very good debut from the lad.

We have to further improve our game and Everton is a real test even not inj their best form.

6 points from this one and West Brom are well needed before we clash with those fecking money clubs

A bit nervous for this game, but i felt that the last 30 minutes against West Ham put some spirit back in out team. Hopefully we can show the same great fighting spirit this whole game, and combine it with the fluid attack we showed the first 30 minutes.

I want to see : (Dont think LVG will bench RVP with Rooney out but still)
    -------------DeGea-----------
    Rafael--Jones--Rojo--Shaw
    ------------Blind------------
    ------Herrera--Di Maria----
    ----Januzaj---------Mata---
    ------------Falcao----------

Januzaj And Mata in "free roles" in attack with Blind and Herrera providing cover for our back four and Herrera espacially cover for Rafael. Di Maria to do what he does best, moving forward and dazzeling us.
I am pretty sure Falcao will get a goal this match.
Jones has to deal with Lukaku and needs to be on his best form.

We have to beat Everton at home. I still can't get over the fact that they did the double over us last season. Ultimately the Everton away game cost Moyes his job. Many teams no longer fear playing against us. We can get that fear factor back by thrashing Everton. Really looking forward to this one!

    Still no updates on Jones?
If he and Herrera are back, we should be fielding what is IMO our strongest team (probably Rooney in for RVP but it's fractional)

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera - Di Maria
    Mata
    Van Persie - Falcao

Fingers crossed Wilson is fit for the bench.

Subs: Lindegard, Fit Centreback, Valencia, Fletcher, Januzaj, Pereira, Wilson

We're more than capable of beating Chelsea, especially at home. If we beat Everton then I'm sure we can put a run together.

That looks seriously good, even with RVP in there for Falcao.

Saw Everton playing against Liverpool, and their defensive organization is bloody performant. I thought that they were better organized, disciplined than Liverpool, and they were very effective except in the last third of the field. But they’re defending very well and their midfield is quite strong also with Barry and Mc Carthy chase a lot and is very effective there. I don’t see us winning the game in midfield, even if Blind and Herrera are two very good footballers; I think Everton’s midfield will be too strong for us, and I really hope that our fire power can push them very deep. As for Lukaku, I really hope that he’ll not shine as he does often against big teams cause our fit defenders, Smalling, Rojo, Blackett (maybe Jones) can cope with him

Hope I’m just not confident enough, but it’ll be a tough tough game, and if we manage to win it, this will be a great signal to the PL. Regarding our injuries, suspension, and the opposition strength (Baines +midfield I would like to introduce Fletch in a 4-2-3-1, with Valencia and Di Maria on the wings, and playing only one striker this game. With Rafalencia and Di Maria Shaw, hope we’ll do enough to hurt them on the wings, securing the midfield with Fletch+Blind and protect

    -----------------------------------------De Gea------------------------------------------

    Rafael------------------------Smalling---------Rojo-------------------------------Shaw

Gonna be the toughest match so far and we're not really that stable yet despite a reasonably convincing win at the weekend. I'm going for a pessimistic 2-2 draw on this one, but really I wouldn't be surprised if either team won, but I do think there will be plenty of goals, probably at both ends. They're organised in defense, but we looked pretty bloody dangerous against West Ham and let's face it, they let 6 in against Chelsea, so I'd be disappointed if we didn't score few. Their attack is good too, again, they scored 3 past Chelsea which is no easy feat.

Quite looking forward to it though, seeing if LvG can finally pin an 11 to start a tough match, especially now we've got more like a full team to pick from (except central defence obviously, but then I was screaming months ago this would happen so that's his biggest failing so far for me).

This is a good test of where we're at. Hopefully we'll do them convincingly, smug Martinez has become annoying.

my prediction is also going to 2-2

Every time we got a good result recently, a setback followed. I really hope we can stop this trend and win it, with bigger games not far away

No mirallas, Barkley, distin, coleman all will be unavailable for everton.

That is good for us. Gives us even more chance to win. The right side of their defense will be key, Hibbert or browning will play there i guess. I would love hibert vs dimaria, but we will have to see what happens.

Everton is in a bad form but dont know what to think of this game. We're capable of scoring 2 or 3 but we're capable of conceding very easily too. I hope Herrera will be fit for this one cause if he wont it will be a huge loss.

I see some of you posting 4-2-3-1 formations which is a good shout but I dont think LVG will change a formation although I think 4-2-3-1 would be a good formation to start vs tougher teams.

Blind-Herrera-Mata midfield with Januzaj and Di Maria on the wings and Falcao up front.

Whats the news with Smalling and Jones? Will one of them start or it willb e McNair-Rojo partnership again.

    Factoid

As pointed out by newbie ApistatCommander, our victory over West Ham United was the first win this calendar year by a one goal margin and just our twelfth victory this year in competitive games. The other wins:

    11/01: Swansea City (H/PL) - 2:0
    28/01: Cardiff City (H/PL) - 2:0
    22/02: Crystal Palace (A/PL) - 2:0
    08/03: West Brom (A/PL) - 3:0
    19/03: Olympiakos (H/CL) - 3:0
    22/03: West Ham (A/PL) - 2:0
    29/03: Aston Villa (H/PL) - 4:1
    05/04: Newcastle (A/PL) - 4:0
    26/04: Norwich City (H/PL) - 4:0
    06/05: Hull City (H/PL) - 3:1

    14/09: QPR (H/PL) - 4:0
    27/09: West Ham (H/PL) - 2:1

    Reasonably convincing?
We had to put 10men behind the ball and defend like some kind of lower league scuffle merchants to hold on

I do appreciate we should have smashed them first half though.

That lot out helps, as does them playing in Russia late Thursday. Obviously some will be rested, but he can't rest their whole team.

If we can get on a run, and the attackers really gel, we could explode.
QPR got a dose, and West Ham were lucky to keep the score down pre Rooney.

I imagine Martinez will have McCarthy sit on whoever we have at the top of the diamond, that will be a key battle for us I feel.

Tough one to call this. Both have very weak defences at the moment so it'll be a high score I think, I'm not even bothered what the score is as long as we get 3 points.

A trip to Russia midweek won't help Everton that's for sure. We probably should win this comfortably but nowadays who knows.

Our longest winning streak in 2014 is a mammoth 2 games.

Can we equal our 2014 record on Sunday? I think we will, 3-2 to Utd I'm going for.
