Arsenal 1:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

I want to start this off by saying yes, I know we're shite too. If you want to reply, please don't just reply saying we're shite too - I know we are.

De Gea is a one man wall. He was brilliant. He made save after save and kept you in that match. Thought Smalling was very good and Blackett was poor. He looks bad on the ball. I don't think your midfield played well and I thought Arsenal controlled the game. Nearly all of your chamces came on the counter. Di Maria played very well and he's proving me wrong as I thought he was an unnecessary signing. It's incredible how much Van Persie has declined. He looks awful.

Dean was awful. Arse should have had a penlty and your first goal was offside. It evened out though as Rooney was onside on the attack immediately after the goal and Wilshere should have been sent off.

Van Gaal and your team still don't worry me.

A win is a win at the end of the day though.

Probably the luckiest match I've watched in a while. Brings back memories of the last minute O Shea goal against the dippers.

About time we got a few breaks though. Anyone else relieved that none of our players got sent off today?

We were shite in the first half and the beginning of the second. Thanks to the goal (essentially created by a good cross from Ashley Young) our whole outlook and confidence just changed completely. We grew as the match got on and played that counter attacking football perfectly. Its also reinforced my belief that Rooney deserves to play up top (at the expense of RVP) and have either Wilson/Januzaj and Di Maria flanking him. Bring back the pace and fear into our attack.

Should have been 3-0. Di Maria bottled it. I would have been disappointed in him if we ended up dropping points, but it doesn't matter. He did very well for the Rooney goal.

We were proper shite though. Smalling and De Gea aside (and McNair was decent too), we were godawful, but as awful as you'd expect from such a depleted team, ravaged even more by injury mid-game.

Jack Wilshere's hardman routine is hilarious. A modern day Scrappy Doo. If he played Sunday League, he would have been hospitalised regularly. Play to your strength's, Jack. You're 5 and a half feet. You've got nothing.

Never thought I'd see the day but I'm beginning to appreciate Fellaini, good player to have in the squad. Loved the incident with Wilshere as well.

Such a crazy game, love it.

Me first half: :wenger:
46-55min:
0-1:
0-2:
FT:
Arsenal 20 over games unbeaten at home was it? Today's a good day.

With all our injuries this is nothing short of a brilliant result. I was p*ssed off after the performance against Palace when we had people fit but today I take my hat off to all of them. Particularly Valencia, Young, Smalling, Rooney, and of course: De Gea.

Firstly, you're shit too.

Secondly, saying all our chances game on the counter as a criticism when it's pretty obviously the way we intended to play is a bit weird.

Yea, Dean was awful, Wilshere should have been sent off.

Incredible win when you consider we were garbage for most of that game. Even more incredible that we really should've scored a third too.

Tbh I still think we're in trouble. We won't get many more compliant teams than Arsenal. A lo of other sides would've beaten us today,

Oh yeah when did you drop LFC from your name?

No matter how shit we are, you can always count on arsenal being a bigger bunch of bottlers

Did he now? You realise Arsenal could have been two or three up in the first half? Is that setting up perfectly?

You don't understand, Van Gaal set us up shit for the first 30 mins to lull Arsenal into a false sense of security, he's a genius.

Relieved! We've not had much luck this season so we're overdue. Arsenal had a lot of chances but we had some good ones too. When you think about chambers late block on Rooneys shot. Di Marias miss and obviously the wrongly given offside - offensively we were decent. We've suffered a lot of injuries and have done well to get the result. Oh and Wilshere should have seen red.

Considering the circumstances, it was an incredible win.
Valencia, Blackett, McNair and Young was part of our defense. Our squad is down to bare bones and yet we defeated a team who finished 4th last season. Any Red who is still complaining about the performance needs to get a grip.

Great results. There's always the next match to improve on the performance. Better to be 4th than 8th I say.

Secondly, saying all our chances game on the counter as a criticism when it's pretty obviously the way we intended to play is a bit weird.

It wasn't a criticism on how you set up, it was a possible reason why your midfield didn't play well.

Agree with your analysis and then you go and say we don't "worry you". What are you smoking with that? Anyone with a brain can tell we're going to finish ahead of you this season.

When was this ? Please don't say Wilshere and Shaw cause that would be ridiculous.

Arsenal 1 - 2 Manchester United's youth academy and players forced to play out of position.

Overall a good result imho.

Did Arsenal really 'outplay' us, though? Apart from their opening gusto, I'm struggling to remember any sustained threat.
