Somehow, I missed the news that he was loaned to Derby. Hopefully, he gets plenty of playing time and continues to develop. Its time for our academy to produce the quality close to that of '92 class.

Mood around the Derby forums seems to be the same, started a bit wobbly but grew into the game. They seem to be excited about what McClaren can do with him.

Hopefully he did enough to force his way into the XI. Tom Ince has started off flying and Johnny Russell is coming back from injury and highly rated there. Then there is Ward and Dawkins too, he is going to have to impress to get playing time.

Played 90 min today for Derby in their 0-2 lost vs. Wolves (PIG in goal for Wolves).Played very well.Took responsibility, made things happen by his own and most of the good football by Derby came through him.

Good to hear him starting and doing well. Derby are on a pretty bad run of form at the moment, though.
They still play good football and he's been their best player tonight so it's all good.Wolves's team basically set up to sit back and wait for counter attack.Derby couldn't break through.

I hope he gets a run in the team after today's performance.. Has been on and off the last few weeks in terms of game time..

He has to if he ever want to make it here.Derby's attacking options are on par with some PL teams but it's only tougher at United.

There is no way that he can make it here. However, he has the ability and the potential to become a starter for an EPL club.

Was decent enough for a very unlucky Derby side last night. He wasn't stand out or anything but had some good moments.

I think he has the talent to make it here, he's a very intelligent player.. He's more like a playmaker than a winger, not the flashiest but takes up great positions and works really hard too..

Just scored for England U-21's.. Seems to be playing as #10 or left winger.. not sure, at work so sneaking a peek at the game whenever I can. Seems like England U-21's are playing a 3 at the back, again not sure if it was just a DM dropping deep when i switched tabs

Scored for Derby vs Huddersfield.

Started their last two games after spending a spell on the bench.. Glad McLaren's started playing him again.

Ince- Bent - Lingard make quite a potent front line

Glad he is getting games and doing well.

I do worry about him a bit if we were to sign Depay, but maybe that is a bit irrational.

I'd say so. He's turning 23 this year and isn't really shining at Championship level although doing alright. Zaha is the same age and is largely considered useless on this forum, but even he is playing regularly for a PL team.

Can't fault you for rooting for local lads to make it though.

Tbf though, he is the sort of player that plays better around better players. I think he's quite a good foil for more extravagant talents and always contributes with clinical finishing.

Zaha played at Championship since 17-18. Lingard is always considered as a late developer so not really a surprise.

The next pre-season will certainly be a make or break for him at United.

His versatility might help him.. Can play on either wing and midfield.. Van Gaal loves his "mutli-functional" players..

Always been a fan of Lingard. Nice running style, good technique, good balance, creative intelligence and a change of pace. Chips in with goals too. Other areas of his game could let him down though.

If he's to move on I'd like to see him go abroad. Reckon he would do well in other leagues that might suit his qualities more.

of course they not, million of examples......players who have a good football brain are be better when surrounded with better players, players who have other qualities but not so big football brain they look way out of place when they play with better players.
