That's not really true. Van Gaal hasn't picked Blind over Smalling at all, Smalling has been involed in the 2nd half team(A team that also consist of Bastian Schweinsteiger).

How cant he see 4-3-3 and Herrera should be his best tactics. Instead of that he thinks some other tactic, 4-2-3-1 which is something completely different to 4-3-3 and cannot be transfered to 4-3-3 by any means, is his best tactic.
