Well this came out of nowhere. A backup plan for if the Pedro deal falls through? Sort of makes sense in that context if so but I'm still not sold on him considering they'd probably be after a fee similar to Pedro anyway.

Sounds like a leak from United simply to divert attention away from Pedro.
Nani was booed by his own fans and generally criticised for 3 years. All Mane would have to do is play 10 games and he would be an improvement on that.
I do agree if Nani was the same player as when we bought him.
I think a lot of people critiscize him for nothing. He took about a month or two to adapt to the PL (when pelle was romping the league) and since then he has been their best attacker. He is a very good finisher and plays relatively well through the middle and in the wings. Crosses are good and if saints had a good striker last year he could possibly have got more assists.
He is welbeck with better finishing skills (which isn't a bad trait) and whether he is going to make it here is anyone's guess. He is hardly inconsistent anymore than other PL players. Even players like Costa and aguero goes about 2 months without scoring every season. He was Southampton's most consistent attacker.
While I think he won't become world class, I think if he is actually bought he will be a Valencia 2009 kind of signing. But I don't see it happening to be completely honest

Some people are going overboard with their criticism in my opinion. From what I've seen and heard he was one of Saints better players last season. He's fast and can dribble a bit as well. Not a dream signing but not one that should have people ready to hang themselves either.
Yeah but anyway, I'm not arsed about Pedro, I saw the likes of Shaw and Memphis break at pace the other day, so I'd like to see more pacey players, Pedro wasn't particularly pacey but there's a Welsh bloke in Madrid who is.(I don't mean my Welsh mate Gavin who's gone to Madrid on holiday...)
