Another idiot'Random innocent people get shot in the US' is barely even newsworthy now. If only all reporters were armed, they could defend themselves or something like that.

They need to cut back on weapons period. The weapons industry, is an industry. If the average person cannot have a gun, no one should have a gun. Maybe if less people were on drugs, there would be less of this insanity. It could have been any weapon but got to laugh, that it was a gun...what a surprise. Here is the feed while they were on air. Looks like the cameraman was killed instantly. Just need to have a major crackdown on guns in America. It is actually ridiculous.

Oh don´t worry, there´s action being taken . . .That's terrible. No idea how this constantly happens over there, yet with hardly any action taken.
No - the only idiots are those advocates of guns.Another idiot
Because if they take guns from the people the criminals will still have them.I'm actually surprised at the power of the gun lobbies, you'd have thought in nearly 8 years that Obama would have been able to do more about it. He's spoken of his frustrations, seems like he's often had his hands tied.
Please let's not turn this into another anti-America thread. There are millions of educated, moderate, liberal Americans. There are also plenty of nutjobs and gun-toting rednecks. Neither group represents all.feck America, seriously.
The killer will end up taking his own life or dying in a shoot out. No way this ends with him being brought in
That would be nice, just hope he has a long dead with pain.feck America, seriously.

You do realise you're posting that comment about someone being murdered by someone who wasn't a criminal?Because if they take guns from the people the criminals will still have them.
That Moroccan guy arrested in France wasn't a criminal until he tried to massacre people in that train. You do realise you're posting that comment about someone being murdered by someone who wasn't a criminal?

Good point.add France on your list
Do you realize you can't compare UK with US? No borders, a lot less people and almost as big as Europe.America has, sadly, gone too far to make gun control an easy solution to the constant shootings. Take the UK, after Dunblane there was genuine outrage, even 20 years later people are still shocked by what happened. The gun laws over here now are such that, touch wood, incidents like that are incredibly rare. Sadly this incident in America will barely be mentioned even in 20 days. They've let things get so far out of control that there is no way they will be able to reign it in now. Certainly if they do it will take many years to even get a slight measure of control.
Exactly - no serious presidential candidate is proposing any significant gun legislation to the best of my knowledge?Listen Sandy Hook was the seminal moment - once the right wing gun lobby cnuts (yes, they are all cnuts) decided, their 'right' to bear arms was more important than the lives of children, all was lost.
That's all there is to it.
There is no gun debate.
.
pretty much every other 1st world country in the world has gun control, regardless of size, size isn't the issue, attitudes are the issue.Do you realize you can't compare UK with US? No borders, a lot less people and almost as big as Europe.
Uhm. Yes. Hence your point about increased gun control only taking guns away from criminals was stupid, in this context. You've just mentioned another example of someone killing people who wasn't a criminal before he ran amok. Hence making guns more difficult to obtain for people who aren't criminals can effectively reduce the number of people being killed. That Moroccan guy arrested in France wasn't a criminal until he tried to massacre people in that train.
I own guns but I don't carry them with me and most of the people the same, illegal in New Jersey and even if was legal I wouldn't carry any because its safe here.everyone should have guns. then no one would kill anyone as everyone has a gun. look what happened in world war 2, everyone one had a gun and not a single fatality was recorded over a 6 year period where everyone hated everyone.
That's not the point! If the reporters had owned guns, they could have protected themselves by engaging the former employee in an OK Corral-style shootout. That would have been great television. You do realise you're posting that comment about someone being murdered by someone who wasn't a criminal?

But he got guns that are illegal.Uhm. Yes. Hence your point about increased gun control only taking guns away from criminals was stupid, in this context. Well, exactly. There will always be guns and there will always be bad people who use them. Where the US is so fecked is the ease of access to guns for people who might not be career criminals but who do something stupid in a moment of madness. In most other countries, that moment of madness might result in someone getting a slap. In America they get shot dead. That's not the point! If the reporters had owned guns, they could have protected themselves by engaging the former employee in an OK Corral-style shootout. That would have been great television.
I'm really grateful that I live in a country where there's very little chance of some lunatic shooting me for no reason. If I want to get shot here, I have to get involved in some seriously shady business.
And the guy who shot the news reporter? You know, the story being discussed in this thread? But he got guns that are illegal.
I believe they need to do something but the words "gun control" sounds like we will have dictatorship in our country, most of the people who owns guns believe the background check should be enforced, more education (if I had to take boating classes to ride a jetski, why not to own a gun) and safety, make people responsible will be the key.pretty much every other 1st world country in the world has gun control, regardless of size, size isn't the issue, attitudes are the issue.
That's terrible. What a coward.
You can't compare owning a f**king gun to riding a jetski. One is to transport yourself across water, as recreation. One is literally an instrument to kill. Ffs. There is no grey area or middle matter here. For non-hunters, owning a gun should be illegal. There is no reason why you or any other layman/average joe should own a gun.I believe they need to do something but the words "gun control" sounds like we will have dictatorship in our country, most of the people who owns guns believe the background check should be enforced, more education (if I had to take boating classes to ride a jetski, why not to own a gun) and safety, make people responsible will be the key.
Terrifying
It's an internet forum for discussing things. Gun control and gun violence are very much relevant to this thread.Look, here's a nice comfy gun control thread, why don't you lot jog on out of this one.

The way some of you rush in here to be the first with the cynical quip really is not at all dignified, and shows scant regard for the victims and story at hand.
Holy shit.
Is that actually real, are we 100% sure about that? Because if it is, it's chilling as feck.CNN Breaking News@cnnbrk4m4 minutes ago
Man sought in WDBJ shooting is Vester Flanagan, police say. Ex-station worker says Flanagan also known as ex-WDBJ reporter Bryce Williams.

Ok the twitter feed is REAL and not a prank.
he is uploading videos as we speak and it looks like this bastard is off his head and probably is going to kill himself rather than surrender.
Yep, unless they took the footage from a different account. Just stood there, waving the gun at them before firing... horrible. Is that actually real, are we 100% sure about that? Because if it is, it's chilling as feck.
"Adam went to hr on me after working with me one time!!!" - like that's a reason for killing someone.
