We started well made some good chances but last 20 mins were very scrappy. Shaw and Smalling have been very good again. Some nice plays from Herrera but not a lot else from anyone.
Herrera should have two assists in this game if somebody had their shooting boots on.

We are better than the first game at least. Rooney fluffed two one on ones and spent the rest of the half standing completely still so no one could pass to him. We should be up a goal or two.

Well, we have improved since the post Fergie depths but we don't look much of a threat. Dare I say it, we have managed to make ourselves "harder to beat"...We need players with the ability to take people on. Swansea press to a man all over the pitch and on numerous occasions had chances to do so, but apart from Memphis, who tries, most others, notably Mata, simply don't/can't take opportunity. It is all too predictable. Rooney looks better, but hardly someone to worry about when you are preparing to defend before the match.

Schweinsteiger has been quite poor. He's got stuck in but his passing hasn't been good.

I think we could do with Carrick to dictate things from deep. No one is penetrating them.

Depay and Mata need to make things happen.

Aguero has one goal this season and has missed loads of chances so far. Skewed one yesterday too.
Aguero tends to do something with it though. Work the keeper, beat a defender, hold the ball up etc. the things you expect your striker to do like gomis has done the few chances he gets. Rooney is just messing things up completely like you'd expect Danny welbeck to do in the box.

Maybe this game is calling for Fellaini in 2nd half and route 1 football.

Romero reminds me of Roy Carroll... Makes everyone nervous as hell as soon as ball is near him but somehow manages to get clean sheets!

Aguero would've scored all 3 Rooney chances.
Rooney doesn't have the acceleration of Aguero. He's not really suited to be a modern striker; basically just an above average midfielder with very good finishing.

Decent half. Solid at the back for the most part apart from the odd occasion... Romero's kicking is shite. Rooney should use his left foot occasionally. Memphis is going past players occasionally, but mostly just keeping it simple as he hasn't had the space really to exploit. Schweinsteiger and herrera doing well though. Smalling and shaw being beasts as always as well.

Rooney stood still on the edge of the box at the end... Has he been told not to make any movement? It's bizarre how they all stand still rather than make angles

Underwhelming to say the least. Mata hasn't looked great on the wing (still think he should play through the middle,) Herrera hasn't been as involved as one might hope (although he's had a couple of lovely passes that could easily have been goals with more clinical finishing from Mata and Rooney,) Rooney looks uninspired, nothing is really coming off for Depay, and our clearances from the back have been dodgy as feck.

I'd be tempted to bring Fellaini on for Rooney, and possibly Young on for Depay. As well, if things continue as they are, I'd consider bringing Valencia on for Mata (never thought I'd say that again!)

We all think we need someone with pace on the right, but we have buckets of pace down the left and we never fecking use it.

Andy Townsend is a bloody prat but he has a point about Shaw and Memphis looking to cut back inside every single time.

Schneiderlin was having an excellent half until that foolish foul which puts him under real pressure in the rain and will probably result in him coming off early. The other two yellows for Routledge and Memphis were beyond fussy.

What's wrong with Rooney's left foot? Twice he was through and should have had a lash but looked to come back onto his right. I've never seen him so hesitant to use his left before.

Herrera off Young on. Bring Young on the right and Mata behind Rooney, and for god's sake play faster.

I miss the good old Fergie hairdryer treatment

Decent first half. Just need to take more risks when we are 15yards into the opposition half. Surely we should be well covered in that position. For all the time we spend shifting the ball across we are wasting time to be making attacks.

We've been decent, just no jewel in the crown that finishes the good moment.

Romero makes the defense nervous and Rooney's touch has been poor. Rain isn't helping things.

Its crazy how weak our team is upfront, Mata is a great player but needs movement ahead of him and hes not a right winger, Depay is young and raw, while Rooney has been past it for the last 2 years

Plus LVG passing in our third and creating nothing offensively is a shit philosophy

Bastian choosing to square it at the end of the half, rather than trying to shoot or play a through ball, typified our first half.

We have been ultra cautious with our use of the ball. The only exception has been Ander Herrera, who once or twice has played the ball around the corner first time.

As a unit we are defending exceptionally. There were a few shaky moments but nothing major. The way the midfield and defence work to close down passing angles is very impressive. We're getting into good positions going forward but there's just not enough ambition to try something risky that might change the game.

Think we weathered their mini storm well enough

Reckon he might make a change in midfield if not now very early in the 2nd

We haven't been overly bad considering it s a tricky game, set up for us to nick it at the end hopefully.

Schweini was very good tbh. Schneiderlin on the other hand looks off the pace. We need a right winger and a striker

Rooney wont get any change from Williams on long balls. But having said that, the 2 times he has gone in behind he has chosen the wrong option both times.

Playing with a lot more pace on the ball, which is pleasing, but it still faded as the half went on. We really need pace on the right wing.

We seem good at starting games, and those first 15-20 minutes are always very good, but we rarely take advantage, and we just drop off and revert back to the slow lateral passes in our own half.

We need to be winning this though. Gomis is a handful up front, but they look mediocre all over the pitch.

To be honest, i don't get how Mata starts every game. I'd rather have Mephis and Young on the wings, 2 players that actually try to run and go past players.

Rooney missed like 2-3 chances, that's why we really still need to sign a striker before the window shuts.
